With amazing views from the balcony off the living room, you can sometimes see deer grazing on the hillside. The property has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard, with oak worktops in the kitchen, an enclosed garden with hot tub and a garden shed with a children’s pool table. There are so many things to see and do in this part of Devon, including Canonteign Falls, which is only 2 miles from Middle Wicket, many National Trust properties and Crealy Adventure park in Exeter. Haldon Forest has many activities on offer, including cycle ways for off road cycling, a butterfly trail and for the really active visitors, there is a Go Ape.

If you fancy a flutter at the races, both Exeter and Newton Abbot racecourses are close by, or take a trip to Plymouth to visit the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth Hoe and the Barbican. The city of Exeter offers a cathedral, canalside walks and plenty of shopping. Take a walk on one of the many tours that Dartmoor has to offer, or try letterboxing on the moor, a fun way to spend a few hours. Set in a rural location with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.This large, imposing, detached country house is the ideal place for a large family or group to come and stay whilst enjoying all that North Devon has to offer. The house has large living areas, a very well equipped kitchen with a quintessential Aga. There is a spacious dining room which is ideal for celebrating a special occasion, and well-furnished bedrooms, the majority of which have en-suite facilities, complete this charming house. Outside, there is the use of a private hot tub as well as a private swimming pool. There is a large well tended garden with plenty of space and sitting out areas for all to enjoy and a play area for small children. Located just outside the village of Beaford, there is also a local pub within walking distance.
North Devon has plenty to see and do, and is home to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach is at Instow and is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses, and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Great Torrington is only a short drive away and has most amenities you may require. The larger regional town of Barnstaple has a busy high street, the Pannier Market and famous Butchers Row. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. For the younger ones a visit to the Big Sheep or Milky Way Adventure Parks is a good option. There is walking on Dartmoor or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail, and there is also golf and fishing available locally.

The master bedroom in each property features a flatscreen TV, and home-made meals can be pre-ordered and delivered to the cottage (arranged direct with the owner). The cottages lie just a short distance from some of south Devon’s finest beaches and tourist attractions, including the historic town of Totnes which is just 15 minutes away and sits on the River Dart with cruises down river to Greenway and Dartmouth. A cosmopolitan town, Totnes, 7 miles away, has a vast array of independent shops, weekly markets, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. There is a large games room set over two floors, including a fitness room with a cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike. The top floor of the games room has a full-size American pool table, big sofa and Sky TV. The bottom floor has table tennis and table football. On-site there is also a laundry and ironing room. If you are looking for adventure and an adrenalin rush, then Wheeldon Farm Cottages will not disappoint. The Wheeldon Off-Road Centre, adjacent to the cottages, boasts a purpose-built, 30,000 square foot indoor arena (split in separate halves for motorbikes and bicycles) and junior training circuit, and is the ideal year-round venue for the whole family to learn to ride a motorcycle in a fun and controlled environment. Discounted rates are available for children and adults during the school holidays (booking by arrangement and on arrival), providing children and adults with the opportunity to experience the ultimate, two-wheel off-road adventure for the first time. The instructors at Wheeldon Farm are all ACU accredited and will guide the children through their paces every step of the way. For some activities, all the kit, clothing, boots, gloves, helmets and fun bikes are provided. All that’s needed is the enthusiasm to have a great deal of fun! In addition to all the motorbike fun, a range of other activities can also be organised locally, including horse riding, golf, go-karting and trout and carp fishing. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Cycle hire is available locally with easy access to Route 27. The historic stannary town of Tavistock is just 6 miles away and has a good selection of independent shops, as well as a varied Pannier Market and the annual Goose Fair. Dousland is a rural village with a pub, popular with locals and visitors alike. Post office, deli, cafes, shops, garage and a pub are all located within 2 miles.

Set on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, Moorview Cottage is a detached barn conversion, located just behind the owner’s home. Surrounded by lovely gardens, the cottage has its own drive and private off road parking. Laid out in a ‘reversed living’ with bedrooms on the ground floor and living area on the first floor. Moorview Cottage is literally a short walk up onto the wild, ruggedness of Dartmoor. Located in the quiet hamlet of Cudlipptown, this is just on the outskirts of the village of Peter Tavy. Here you will find a friendly and welcoming local inn. Just 4 miles from the historic market town of Tavistock. Here you will find a good ranges and shops and local amenities plus some very interesting historical buildings and connections, and with a fabulous indoor pannier market. This cottage is a superb holiday home, warm and comfortable all year around, ideal for families and also for couples who want a tranquil peaceful location. From the garden there are lovely views up onto the moor and at night, the dark sky makes for excellent stargazing. If you’re the outdoor type, there are some fabulous walks and cycle routes along the Granite Trail and Lydford Gorge (National Trust). If you fancy something a little more adventurous, go out trekking from the local horse riding stables in the village of Mary Tavy. Centrally located midway between the North and South coasts, there are beaches at Bude and Westward Ho! that are well worth the drive. Other highlights are Drogo Castle (National Trust), Roadford Lake, Tarka Trails at Gunnislake and a day trip to Plymouth, with it rich naval history, has lots to offer visitors. Beach 18 miles.
