Although set within the beautiful area of the South Hams, the towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, which make up the renowned ’English Riviera’, are just a short drive away. The city of Exeter and airport is also just 30 minutes’ away. Whatever you choose to do on your holiday, Moorland Views is a great relaxing base to start from.

Lemon Cottage is a fantastic 2021 refurbished self-catering holiday property nearby to the owner’s property, in the village of Bickington. Bickington is a village and civil parish in the Teignbridge district of Devon, England, on the east edge of the Dartmoor National Park. The village is about five miles west of Newton Abbot, on the River Lemon. The cottage is also just a 5-minute drive away from the nearby town of Ashburton, with its fantastic local antique shops, restaurants & bakery. In addition, Lemon Cottage is a 10-minute drive from Dartmoor and the famous Haytor Rock, a great day out for walking/hiking with a picnic and taking in the natural beauty and wildlife.

As you enter Lemon Cottage, there is a handy area for your coats and shoes along with dog beds for those four-legged friends. There is also a wet room by the front door, perfect for rinsing down after a day on the beach, or cleaning up mucky paws. Through the entrance hallway and into the fitted kitchen with breakfast bar overlooking the living/dining area. The living/dining area benefits from a cosy wood-burner to sit in front of playing board games, and has French doors which open out onto the rear garden. The rear garden is mainly lawned, but also has a small patio area, partially under cover with seating to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or a fresh morning coffee. The rear garden boasts a hot tub, absolutely perfect for unwinding after a long day!

The first floor of Lemon Cottage is where the main bathroom is located, with bath & shower over as well as large double sink. Next to the bathroom is a double bedroom. Onto the second floor, and there are a further two bedrooms, a small twin room and a second double bedroom. All in all, Lemon Cottage is a beautifully cosy cottage with all the facilities you could want for a great holiday.

A spacious family house, situated in a very convenient position close to the town and car/boat parks. This end of terrace property has parking for two cars and a pretty flagged patio.

Thatched Cottage is a spacious detached six bedroom property for 12 guests and is suitable for a large family or a group of friends. It is a beautifully furnished converted restaurant set within the town of Kingsteignton, 2 miles from Newton Abbot and 1 mile from Newton Abbot racecourse. Spend some time unwinding in the open plan living and dining area on the ground floor which is light, airy and has plenty of room and home comforts for everyone to spread out. Perfect for a relaxing evening indoors when you’re not out exploring the delights of the local area. Next door, the kitchen is well equipped to prepare a family dinner. It is perfect for socialising whilst cooking a home-cooked meal. From the living room three steps lead down to a separate games room area which houses a pool table, a bar with stools, a gaming fruit machine (which is free to use with no prizes), a dart board, a 40” Smart TV with Freeview and Netflix. Upstairs are 6 bedrooms each with a Freeview Smart TV with Netflix. The enclosed walled garden is great for pets and it features a 5-seater hot tub, a barbecue, 2 picnic benches on the lawn plus a small patio area with a bench, great for enjoying your morning coffee.

Kingsteignton has a choice of shops, pubs, a variety of eateries and sporting facilities, and the nearby towns and villages offer a variety of attractions. Nearby Newton Abbott can be reached from the doorstep along the walking and cycling path which takes you through the Hackney Marshes nature reserve. The ancient market town offers plenty of local shops, high street chains and supermarkets. There’s also a racecourse where National Hunt racing takes place from spring until autumn, with craft fairs during the winter.

There are a number of beaches within easy driving distance including Teignmouth, Torquay and Paignton, which also has a zoo. Spend a day on the beach building sand castles and walk the impressive Victorian Pier at Teignmouth. Enjoy the stunning beaches around Torquay and the many hidden coves such as Meadfoot, Oddicombe, and further afield, the pretty Ness Cove. And of course, the South West Coast Path provides stunning seascapes across the bay, with a popular stretch from Torquay Harbour to Daddyhole Plain.

The Dartmoor National Park is nearby with rugged and stunning scenery where you can enjoy walking, cycling, horse riding, climbing and canoeing. You can see the ponies, walk the Tors or simply stop off in one of the many villages for a Devon cream tea. For the children, there is Crealy Adventure Park or Go Ape in Haldon. There are many cycle ways off road, including Powderham Castle where there is a cycle track along the estuary. North Barn is a luxurious, detached barn conversion with four immaculate bedrooms, accommodating up to eight guests in total. No attention to detail has been forgotten, it is a truly idyllic holiday home retreat. Walk in from the private garden, straight into the hallway which leads to the homely, light and spacious open plan living space, which is attractively furnished with plenty of space for families or a group of friends. The kitchen has sleek grey units with ample preparation and storage space, and is fully equipped with a range of integrated appliances. The large island in the centre of the kitchen is a great spot to catch-up over coffee, and the large dining table is the perfect sociable area for a celebratory meal where you can entertain your guests and toast to the good times that lie ahead. The spacious living area has a 55" Smart TV and two large sofas. Perfect to relax in after a busy day exploring this part of Devon.
Upstairs, the bedrooms and landing have beautiful features, including wooden beams, sky lights, a glass balustrade staircase and high ceilings. There is one cosy twin bedroom and one standard double bedroom which have shared use of the family bathroom. There are also two spacious kingsize bedrooms which each have their own contemporary en-suite shower room. This first-rate home-away-from-home offers splendid outdoor spaces, including a patio at the front of the property with an outdoor picnic bench and parasol. There is also an enclosed lawned garden at the back of the property. The patio area is a lovely spot in the evenings to enjoy the sun setting with a glass of your favourite tipple in hand.
North Barn is an absolute delight and there is also the option to book South Barn (ref BCSBARN), which is a luxurious three-bedroom property located on the other side of the courtyard area, together they can accommodate a total of 14 guests.
This beautiful holiday home benefits from lovely countryside walks close by on Dartmoor and Exmoor, and cyclists and walkers are well catered for in the area with the famous Tarka Trail within easy reach as well as The Granite Way. The Tarka Train Line is a great alternative to a day driving, catch this local line at Eggesford Junction and head up to the coast or to the cathedral city of Exeter.
Iddesleigh, Hatherleigh and Winkleigh are just a short drive away and offer shops and pubs. The village of Iddesleigh, which is a 5-minute drive away, is known as War Horse Country as this is where Michael Morpurgo wrote the novel ’War Horse’. You will also be within easy reach of a riding stable, coarse fishing at Stafford Moor and War Horse Valley Farm Park, and slightly further afield are RHS Rosemoor Gardens, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way.
The stunning surfing beaches of the North Devon and North Cornwall coastline are an easy drive away for a day out, with sandy beaches and sheltered coves to explore including Bude, Saunton Sands, Croyde and Westward Ho! Discover the magnificent points of High Willhays and Yes Tor at Dartmoor National Park, where you can enjoy a scenic hike to the summit for unrivaled views, before embarking on an exhilarating outdoor adventure of canoeing or climbing with Adventure Okehampton. A visit to Castle Drogo is also not to be missed, an extraordinary castle with fantastic gardens, a shop and a restaurant with the moors as the backdrop.

Every inch the welcoming rural retreat, Oak Lodge is a contemporary lodge with plenty of space to holiday as a group, yet still enjoy time to yourself. Four of the five bedrooms are furnished with kingsize beds that you won’t want to leave when the sun rises, and the fifth bedroom has a bunk bed that is perfect for younger members of the group. Oak Lodge is twin friendly, offering two cots and two highchairs to make things easier for mums and dads, and with The Milky Way Adventure Park and the historic village of Clovelly just a short drive away in one direction, and the coast around 15 minutes by car in the other, you’ll be able to enjoy adventures right on your doorstep.

Paignton Place is a fantastic holiday accommodation sleeping up to 6 guests in total including the sofa bed in the living room. Boasting off road parking and an enclosed rear garden including hot tub.

As you enter the property you find yourself in the entrance hallway. To your left is a superking sized bedroom and to your right is the bright and airy living/dining room. The door to the fully equipped kitchen is also on your left with French doors leading out into the enclosed rear garden, boasting projector screen and hot tub. Perfect for relaxing after a long day at the beach! There is also a bathroom located on the ground floor with full sized bath and separate shower enclosure. On the first floor is where another bedroom is located, again with superking sized bed and bathroom just across the hallway with bath and shower enclosure also.

Paignton Place is situated just outside of Paignton town, away from the hustle and bustle while still being within short driving distance of everything the town has to offer. There are nearby shops just down the road from the property and in the opposite direction a local pub/restaurant. Venture into Paignton town to experience the arcades, cinema, crazy golf, beach and pier to name just a few. Whether wanting to experience Paignton itself or explore further afield such as Torquay and Brixham, making up the beautiful English Riviera, Paignton place is a fantastic place to start. Not to mention surrounding areas such as Kingswear, Dartmouth, Teignmouth and the local city of Exeter.

Situated in a quiet part of Cadeleigh, these beautiful, detached, barn conversions overlook the ponds and the deer with amazing views across the rolling hills of Devon. Set 100 yards apart within the owner’s 40-acre deer farm, nestled next to the ponds, the properties are accessed by an unmade track and provide beautiful, spacious accommodation. Perfect for friends to get together, celebrations or a family holiday.

Deer Park (ref UK36064) is a luxurious and spacious three-bedroom barn conversion, showcasing open plan living, underfloor heating and bi fold doors seamlessly blending the living spaces with the outdoor landscape. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is also a utility with a washing machine.

All of the properties have their own private garden and on balmy summer evenings, is the ideal spot to relax with the prossecco which the thoughtful owners will leave for your arrival. Most of the properties have a private hot tub, except Deer Park, so don’t forget your towels!

With these properties being located on a deer farm, red deer and amazing stags can be seen close up, and there are sometimes otters in the ponds. Although the ponds are unfenced, the properties gardens are fenced, so there is some barrier between the garden and ponds.

The village of Cadeleigh lies just 9 miles from Exeter, with its magnificent cathedral and many shops and canalside pubs. Tiverton is just 6 miles away, and Bickleigh Mill with its lovely river walks, small fun railway, shop and café, is nearby. Spend a day exploring tranquil moorland and winding rivers in the Exmoor National Park, as well as the breathtaking coastline full of secluded bays and spectacular cliffs. Exmoor is sprinkled with quaint villages, attractive towns and charming harbours. Enjoy a day out at Tiverton Canal, walk with the horse drawn canal boat or enjoy a boat trip. Alternatively, take a trip to the north Devon coast and explore the dramatic coastlines and sandy beaches. Beach 24 miles. Shop 6 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

The River Plym is just a six-minute walk away from the cottage and guests can enjoy the excellent walking, riding, cycling, and fishing all available in the area. The cottage is located on the open moor and it is a lovely place to walk and gaze at the surrounding countryside where the idyllic rural scenes of ‘War Horse’ were filmed. There is a 21-mile-long cycling and walking route, Drakes Trail, which runs through nearby Yelverton and links Tavistock and Plymouth sweeping through wooded valleys and open moorland.
Nearby attractions include Buckland Abbey, The Garden House, the Plym Valley, Burrator Reservoir, or Plymouth’s city amenities which is about a 20-minute drive away. The South Devon coast is within easy reach for day trips to Salcombe and the pretty riverside village of Newton Ferrers makes a memorable day out. Other nearby attractions and places of interest in the area include Exeter, famed for its stunning cathedral and shopping, Woodlands Adventure Park, Paignton Zoo, Dartmouth Steam Railway, Torre Abbey, and numerous National Trust properties.
