Whether you like walking, birdwatching or taking a perfect lazy holiday, Cockington has it all. A real picture-postcard village, Cockington has hardly changed over hundreds of years. There is evidence of Iron Age and Saxon settlements near the local pub, and the village is mentioned in the Domesday Book. This thatched village is the perfect setting for a walk, no matter what time of year it is. It has an historic forge, a court and church, tea rooms, thatched pub and, of course, the lakes and woods. The village sits somewhat incongruously, right in the heart of urban Torbay, but stubbornly refuses to be tainted by modern developments. The pride of the village is Cockington Court, originally owned by the Cary family from 1375 to 1654.
