This super, unique, detached beach house includes two converted railway carriages, one of only a few to be seen along the south coast and enjoys a fabulous location directly on the seafront. Step onto the pebble beach via your private gate from the enclosed garden and enjoy miles of pebble/sandy beach – a haven for all ages, including children and dogs all year round! From the front it is deceptive, having been substantially extended, but once you approach the side entrance, the original features can be easily seen. Inside, the traditional carriage doors remain, and many of the rooms are set inside the former train carriages. Southern Bell offers tastefully styled, light, and airy holiday accommodation for families - with an enclosed patio garden, plenty of off-road parking and a short walk from the local shops, eateries/pubs, and harbour/sailing club. Hayling Island is renowned for its kitesurfing and sailing activities and local paddle - boarding and windsurfing lessons are available close by. Every year there is a national kitesurfing event, and a plethora of sailing and nautical activity can be seen along the coastline. Many activities can be enjoyed locally, including golf, fishing, cycling, boat trips and scenic walks along the water’s edge or along the South Downs National Park which are within easy reach. Chichester with its beautiful cathedral, festival theatre, pedestrianised shopping, leisure centre, Roman Villa and Goodwood or Fontwell races is worthy of a visit. Visit Portsmouth with waterside dining, ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, designer outlets, leisure facilities, Spinnaker Tower, Historic Dockyard including HMS Victory and the Mary Rose, or the maritime history at Southampton. Winchester, with its cathedral and abbey, and The New Forest are within easy driving distance. Plenty of National Trust homes and gardens can also be discovered nearby. Beach 5 yards. This delightful barn dating from 1860 has a stormy history – in the great hurricane of 1987 it was totally demolished. Rebuilt two years later using many of the original beams, it was reborn into a luxurious and stylish property. For anyone wanting to enjoy a period property, with all the modern conveniences then Saunders Oast Barn is not to be missed.
The stylish entrance hall with oak beam framing, leads to the open plan living room with its cool, contemporary decoration. Comfortable sofas look out over the patio/garden from French doors, perfect for relaxing of an evening in front of the flat screen TV. While the small size pool/small snooker table is excellent for keeping everyone amused of an evening or on inclement days.
The large contemporary kitchen, in cool gleaming white, is well-equipped, with a dining table making it ideal for those lazy breakfasts. Or open the door to the patio/garden and enjoy an evening meal, while listening to the tranquil sounds of the countryside.
The bedrooms are all large and luxuriously furnished, with sumptuous linen, soft fluffy, duvets and pillows, and all with exposed oak beams and oak furniture. With a calm and peaceful atmosphere which tempts you to enjoy a lazy morning or early night.
On hot summer days enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside from the patio, which looks out over rolling countryside and is often frequented by the neighbouring chickens and geese! Or enjoy an alfresco meal or BBQ of an evening, while watching the evening sun sink in the sky.
If you can bear to leave this wonderful barn for a while, then historic Hastings with its castle ruins, and the coast are easily reached. While the medieval town of Rye with its impressive Norman church is nearby. Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

Converted from former farm buildings, these four holiday properties (two of which have been adapted for the disabled with shower chairs available), are in the Southdowns National Park. Properties 17320 and 17321 command fine views over the surrounding countryside. 17320 also has a worktop which has been lowered for wheelchair access to the sink in the kitchen. Situated in the grounds of the family farm (non-working), they are only 100 yards from the village of Compton with village shop and tea room with free wi-fi access. Enjoy peaceful walks along a bridle path leading to the South Downs Way, 2 miles designated as a National Park. The historic cathedral town of Chichester lies 10 miles away, with its cobbled streets adorned with tea rooms and restaurants, and the ornate cathedral. Scenic boat tours can be taken around the harbour. Goodwood and Fontwell races or polo at Cowdray are all within a short drive. Portsmouth, with shopping and leisure facilities, within easy reach. This delightful, period home stands semi-detached, and offers light and airy, carefully co-ordinated holiday accommodation, with good use of tasteful themed coloured walls and contemporary additions. It is ideally located right in the heart of The New Forest, only 200 yards from the centre of Burley, which attracts many visitors’ year round with its tea rooms, pubs, manor house, cycle hire, quaint gift shops and ice cream parlour. There is also a spa in the village where you can spend a day relaxing. Roaming ponies and cattle can often be found outside the cottage or wandering through Burley – it certainly makes a change from a traditional traffic jam!

The unspoilt forest and heathland with wandering ponies and cattle are what makes the New Forest famous. Miles of beautiful walks are available, as is golf, or alternatively the surrounding area can be explored by car or on bicycle via the many cycle paths, where you can discover some of the appealing villages, towns, attractions, and gardens such as Lyndhurst, the sailing town of Lymington (with ferry terminal to the Isle of Wight), Beaulieu Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens and the riverside village of Bucklers Hard. The county of Hampshire itself was enjoyed by Jane Austen with her house and museum in Chawton and her resting place in Winchester Cathedral. Further afield but well worth a trip is Christchurch, Monkey World and the Tank Museum near Wool. Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig World, ‘Go Ape’ adventure park, The Owl and Otter Park and nautical maritime history at Southampton, with retail shopping outlets, are also within easy reach. The coastline with its beaches at Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Poole is within a short drive, with golden beaches and has many popular activities such as windsurfing, boating and swimming. Blue Caps is a beautiful detached property nestled in a peaceful cul-de-sac within the heart of the welcoming coastal village of Beadnell. The wide expanse of golden sandy beach Beadnell Bay is renowned for is a mere 10-minutes walk: a popular destination for water-sports enthusiasts, including sailing, sea kayaking, wind surfing and scuba diving. Beadnell Bay can truly be described as the jewel in Northumberland’s seaside crown; idyllic for a romantic barefoot stroll in the sand to listen to the waves lap against the shoreline and inhale the invigorating sea air. Two miles up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses, where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands – famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony – depart regularly from its harbour. Here there are several charming tea rooms, quaint pubs and shops with horse-riding; fishing and golf on the links close by being only a sample of the many amenities available in this popular location. A further 3 miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, which lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic fortress and commands the power and presence of the seasoned television set it regularly becomes. Holy Island – the birthplace of Christianity and site of Lindisfarne Castle – can be seen from the unspoilt golden, sandy beach. Just a few miles inland is the bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!). Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden – a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe! Overlooking the River Wear, these superb conversions of the barn, old byre and stables provide a wonderful holiday retreat. Pleasant towns and pretty villages dot the area – the historic market town of Barnard Castle lies within easy reach, and boasts castle remains overlooking the town, as well as the Bowes Museum. Built as an impressive French-style chateau, the museum houses a magnificent collection of fine and decorative art. Other places of interest are Raby Castle, the ruins of Egglestone Abbey and Rokeby Hall. Hexham (with stately abbey) is a good day trip out, as well as the splendid cathedral city of Durham, 15 miles. For those who wish to experience the wonders of this inspiring area, why not take a long, lazy walk amid the scenic beauty of the North York Moors National Park, which can be accessed by the heritage steam train winding its way through the rolling hills of heather? You can also explore quaint coastal villages such as Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes or Runswick Bay. Take in the sights along the seafront at Filey, Scarborough or Saltburn.
