Blackhill Gate Cottage is set in an unrivalled rural location offering superb panoramic countryside views across the stunning scenery of the Peak District National Park. Crossing the Derbyshire and Cheshire boundary on the outskirts of the pretty Peak District village of Kettleshulme, this holiday cottage is located next to a field which at times is home to nursery lambs, and offers fine walking direct from the door through the valley of Todd Brook, Bowstones, Taxal Edge and into the Goyt Valley. Kettleshulme itself is home to a 15th century country pub which offers a warm welcome and freshly cooked meals. The town of Whaley Bridge with its mix of shops, bars and restaurants plus train station with direct service to both Manchester and Buxton is a 5 minute drive. The National Trust Lyme Park with its glorious house and gardens can be reached on foot or by car and the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and the popular market town of Bakewell, 45 minute’s drive. A variety of Peak District villages are all easily reachable within half an hour’s drive including Edale, Tideswell and Castleton, and great days out for the family within an hour’s drive include the local Chestnut Centre Wildlife Park, Carsington Water, Matlock Bath with is cable car and the UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Set in this quiet hamlet, adjacent to the owner’s house, this cosy holiday cottage enjoys many pretty touches. There is a lawned area to the front of the property for relaxing in the evenings on the patio area. Seven miles from the historic city of Chester and with North Wales and the Peak District close by for an alternative day out. Golf course 1 mile, horse riding locally. Offering a rural experience, Drumble Lodge can be found at the end of a winding country lane on a working farm amidst beautiful Cheshire countryside. The location is peaceful and serene, where you can enjoy the sounds of bird song throughout the day and the distinctive calls of owls at night. The farm on which the lodge stands has been registered as a wedding venue and will accommodate smaller weddings. Pet sheep and goats that meander around the paddock next to the lodge, and in the distance, you’ll see cows grazing in the meadow. Despite the rural setting, the property has Sky Link Wi-Fi with 200 megabites per second.
A selection of outdoor seating areas are available where you can relax, unwind and once the sun sets gaze at the stars beyond through the telescope provided. A traditional dog friendly, food serving pub is a mere 10-minute walk, and ample footpaths radiate from the area just waiting to be explored. The pretty market town of Congleton can be reached in around 10 minutes and is home to ample amenities including a selection of supermarkets and shops together with many bars and restaurants.
The National Trusts Biddulph Grange Country Park and Little Moreton Hall are also accessible in around a 10-minute drive. You can take a waterside stroll along the River Dane, cycle the tranquil traffic free Biddulph Valley Way, or walk to the famous atmospheric ruins of Mow Cop Castle and lesser-known Old Man of Mow.
The Peak District National Park is around a 30-minute drive and the city of Manchester can be reached in under an hour on a direct train from Congleton station. For those with children Delamere Forest, Manley Mere and Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers can be reached in around 45 minutes and then finally the city of Chester, Blue Planet Aquarium and Chester Zoo in around an hour.

This superb semi-detached cottage can be found just over half a mile from the centre of Disley, which is best known as the home to the National Trusts magnificent Lyme Park.

Completely renovated throughout in 2022 the property benefits from beautiful views over the surrounding countryside, and also has lovely gardens to the rear. Being less than a mile from the Peak District National Park on the border of Cheshire and Derbyshire means the location is perfect for lovers of the great outdoors, with ample wonderful walks and cycle trails literally on the doorstep. Disley itself is a thriving village with a range of amenities including pubs, restaurants and a train station that can be reached in around a 15-minute walk. Disley Station offers a direct service to both Manchester and Buxton in just 30 minutes meaning the hustle and bustle of city life can be combined with the peace and tranquillity of the countryside.

Neighbouring New Mills can be reached in around a 10-minute drive and is home to the Torrs Riverside Park and Millennium Walkway, which is a much-admired bridge set deep into the gorge. Buxton is just 20 minutes and most famous for its therapeutic spring water, Pavilion Gardens and of course Opera House. Also, just 20 minutes is the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton, wonderful Edale which is the start/end of the Pennine Way and Hayfield from where you can hike to the highest point in the Peak District, Kinder Scout. The superb barn conversions can be found in an idyllic rural setting in the hamlet of Day Green, Sandbach. Newly renovated in 2022 you will find that wonderful care and attention has been taken to retain original features where possible, both inside and out. Perfect for couples, friends, small families and pets. We also cater to those who would like a holiday with their horse using the onsite equestrian facilities of Cheshire Racehorse Retraining (at additional cost agreed separately) and to those attending or competing at local equestrian events.
Barn Two has an open plan combined dining, kitchen, and living room area. The living room features a 4-seat sofa, foot stool and Freeview TV with direct access to front and rear patio areas, there is also a separate toilet. Upstairs there are two comfortable double bedrooms, with wardrobes and bedside tables, which both open out onto the staircase landing to enter the bathroom.
Sandbach is a historic and charming town that can be found in wonderful South Cheshire. It offers all the best requisites of modern living with shops, bars and restaurants catering for most tastes. Day Green Barns is in close proximity to the M6 motorway, which makes it an ideal location for easy access to attractions throughout Cheshire, and the surrounding counties. The surrounding area boasts a wide range of attractions including the National Trusts sites, equestrian venues such as Somerford park, numerous walks in locations such as the peak district and Delamere Forest.

Attractions nearby include the respective castles of Peckforton, Beeston and Cholmondley which can all be reached in 10–15 minutes, as can the world’s largest ice cream parlour at The Ice Cream Farm Tattenhall. Drift House is well located for events at Bolesworth Castle including Car Fest North and the International Horse Show. For anyone looking to explore the area on bike, the Sandstone Ridge provides quiet lanes over rolling hills with great café and lunch spots to break up your route, and off road trails are found at Delamere, and Llandegla Mountain Biking centre for the more adventurous riders. Secure bike storage is available at the property, although bikes can also be hired at local trail centres. Children will enjoy The Crocky Trail, Delamere Forest and Wild Shore Delamere which can all be reached in around 30 minutes, and for those seeking pampering or golf, a 10-minute drive will take you to a luxury country estate with spa and leisure facilities, together with two championship golf courses.
The centre of Manchester can be reached in around an hour, Liverpool in around 45 minutes or the historic city walls of Chester in around half an hour. There’s motor racing at Oulton Park, 30 minutes, the stunning Welsh Mountains or the Wirral Peninsula in around 60 minutes. You really are spoilt for choice!

A warm welcome at Oakenbank barn awaits you with its open plan living area with a modern kitchen alongside a dining table to seat all guests. A relaxing wood burner can be enjoyed in the living space with comfy seating and a wall mounted television, so you don’t miss out on those favourite programmes. Within the open plan space guests can choose to stay in the double four poster bed whilst the wood burner crackles away. The galleried area in the barn has two single beds for guests and a modern family bathroom can be found downstairs for guests. There are stunning, uninterrupted views down the valley which can be enjoyed whilst seated on the patio furniture in the lovely courtyard of this pretty barn.


When ready to get out and about in the local area, you can choose to walk straight from the front door to start your day with a visit to the Ingersley Vale Waterfall or popular local landmark white Nancy, or maybe just a short drive away for a hike up Macc View for outstanding scenery. History buffs will relish in a trip to the nearby town of Macclesfield where they can discover the rich and captivating history of Armoury Towers and Fence Alms Houses or the Priests House that rests in the quintessential village of Prestbury.


Nearby Macclesfield is a market town and civil parish resting in Cheshire, England, on the outer fringes of the Peak District National Park. Boasting a wide range of pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience, as well as some shops and supermarkets for picking up any last-minute essentials and indulging in a shopping spree, also offering Pott Shrigley (only 1 mile away) Tytherington (approximately 4miles) and Macclesfield Golf Club (approximately 5miles).
