    The beautiful Fishermans Cottage has a modern airy coastal feel. The kitchen is well-equipped and the cosy, comfortable living room has a Smart TV with access to Netflix and iPlayer. On the first floor is the master bedroom which hosts a beautiful oak kingsize bed, and the Bosun’s Locker has a trio bunk bed; there is a dedicated workspace is in this room. You will also find a second toilet on this floor. Up a steep staircase to the second floor, you’ll find The Captain’s Cabin with a double bed and distant views of the water. The sunny garden has two dining areas for morning or evening sun.
    There are many walks and bike rides from the cottage, and you can SUP/kayak, go crabbing or launch a boat from the slipway at high tide.

    During the First World War, the village was used by the army which had an extensive veterinary hospital for horses. After the war the camps were split up into agricultural small holdings and the army huts were used as dwellings; part of this cottage was the army cookhouse, hence the name. There were many huts here in the 1960’s however The Old Cook House is the only remaining army hut in the area.

Every year there is a national windsurfing event, and a hive of sailing and nautical activity can be seen along the coastline. For those that want to join in, you will find two paddle boards and two long boards in the garage that can be used.

    For those who enjoy walking and cycling why not visit the Hayling Billy Trail – an historical multi-use trail spanning the full west coast of the island and used to be the original route of the “Hayling Billy” train line. Two bikes are also available to use.

Further afield you can park your car at Hengistbury Head and walk all the way to Boscombe, or alternatively from Highcliffe Castle to Mudeford, then take the short ferry to Hengistbury.
    The beaches in the locality are very clean, and many people swim from the Milford Beaches. There is a paddle boarding shop in the village, and lessons can be taken in Mudeford. The water in Christchurch Harbour is very shallow, and great for those learning to paddle board. Lymington, with its harbour, restaurants, inns, nautical boutiques and ferry link to the Isle of Wight, is only about 5 miles. The New Forest is known for it extensive scenic walks, cycling and riding routes, whilst other places to visit include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Paultons Park, Bucklers Hard, Marwell Zoo, New Forest Owl and Otter Park and Christchurch Priory. Many larger beaches with various attractions are within easy reach, including Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth.
