Being the original show home for the lodge development it is attractively fitted out to a high standard. Patio doors from the living area gives access to our private veranda where you can enjoy outdoor eating and relaxing, overlooking a secluded grassed area with Marina views where you can enjoy observing the birds and other wildlife visitors.

There is a private off-road parking, bike store, a courtyard garden with feature lighting and an original ancient cheese press and a new second garden with beautiful views. Bailey’s Barn is well set up with a heated cupboard for drying coats and boots and an outside tap for washing wellies and dogs. Ideal for walkers, couples, and dog owners, it is within an easy stroll of fields, footpaths and The Limestone Way. Set on top of the highest hill for many miles around, the views are outstanding and the walking and cycling extremely rewarding. There are hundreds of miles of trails which start straight from the barn, it is an ideal opportunity to park-up, put the car keys away and just relax! Bailey’s Barn is a great base from which to explore the beauty and majesty of the region’s peaks, dales and rivers. With its own quirky traditions such as Bonsall Carnival, International Hen Racing Championships, ancient buildings and History Trails, Bonsall itself is a delightful find with two pubs and a lovely tearoom all within half a mile or so. The owners live on-site, and are on hand to help with any queries. Shop, café and pub 500 yards, restaurant 2 miles.

Meadows Huts, Foxglove (UK37639) and Forget-Me-Not (UK37646) are located just outside of the quaint village of Parwich, 5 miles from the nearest town, Ashbourne. This area of the Peak District is fantastic for exploring the countryside. The High Peak trail and the Tissington trail are both within 3 miles of the huts as well as recognised cycle routes. Dovedale is a must to visit whilst in the area, read up on the history of the steppingstones and take the walk yourselves up Thorpe Cloud where you will see breath-taking views well worth the hike. If you are more of a thrill seeker Alton Towers is only a 20-minute drive which makes a fun day out for all the family or take on some water sports at Carsington reservoir.
After all this enjoy a nice meal in the evening at the local pub. Foxglove and Forget-me-not are two similar shepherds’ huts, both finished to an incredible standard with home comforts in mind. The open plan living space has a double bunk bed allowing space for four guests, a dining area with a TV, there is also Wi-Fi provided and electric radiators. The kitchen is well equipped with electric oven, hob and fridge, plus there is a shower room within the hut. Outside a barbecue and firepit are provided with outdoor furniture, overlooking the fields.

The location is excellent, set within the landscape of Ashbourne, one of the Peak Districts most visited towns, there is so much on offer here from scenic walks on the Tissington Trail, the famous Dovedale Stepping Stones where you can also venture up Thorpe Cloud and take in the amazing views or if you wish to get the adrenaline pumping Alton Towers theme park is a 35 minute drive. Carsington Water is also nearby which offers many water sports activities, bird watching as well as having an 8-mile loop around the reservoir which is bike friendly too. Return back to The Stag’s Wallow and know you have a warm and comfortable base and just a short walk down the road is a lovely pub serving a varied menu with a lovely garden and electric vehicle charging.

The Bobbin owners are dog friendly and having two of their own, realise the importance of enabling guests to bring their beloved pets on holiday. Doggie hospitality treats are provided plus loan of a waffle dog towel for wiping muddy paws! The owners also offer the loan of a doggy bed, feed, and dog bowls free of charge if required as they appreciate space can be limited when travelling. The beautiful Matlock Forest is only a 5-minute drive away which is dog friendly with many routes to explore!
The Bobbin is located on the edge of the Peak District giving easy access for exploring lovely villages and towns such as the historic spa town of Matlock just 5 minutes’ drive away with its ’Little Switzerland Gorge’, numerous bars/eateries, ice cream parlour, steam train and boating lake. Matlock Bath is worth a visit with its famous attractions ’Heights of Abraham’ and ’Gullivers Kingdom’. The iconic town of Bakewell is home to the famous Bakewell Pudding. Chatsworth House (the Palace in the Peak) is only a 20-minute drive away. After something more adventurous, then why not visit Carsington for kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing, cycling, or walking.
