House of Marbles is situated close by, where you can visit the shop or enjoy a spot of lunch. Take a trip into Bovey Tracey with an array of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. Lustleigh is a few miles drive and is a quaint village with lots of thatched cottages, a tea room and a pub. Walkers can escape and explore the depths of Dartmoor, spot wild Dartmoor ponies, or cross ancient stone bridges spanning the clear bubbly waters of the River Dart and other rivers. You can also feel the somewhat eerie presence of the tors, seven rocky hills presiding majestically over the moors. Visit National Trust Castle Drogo and Lydford Gorge, quaint towns and Buckfast Abbey. Take a trip to Torbay, known as the English Riviera due to its unique micro-climate; take the ferry across to Dartmouth and the neighbouring town of Brixham, set on and across the River Dart. At the mouth of the river are Kingswear and Dartmouth Castles with the rocky waters of the estuary lapping at their feet. Exeter and its stunning cathedral is just a 10-mile drive, and Exeter Racecourse and Haldon are not far away. A nature trail and cycle route can be found in the Forestry Commission, 7 miles. Powderham Castle and many National Trust properties are close by. Beach 10 miles. Shop and pub ½ mile, restaurant ¼ mile.
