The ’Valley of the Rocks’ is worth walking and exploring as well as the walk down to Countisbury Light House. The National Trust property of Watersmeet is also nearby and and has a popular tea-room. There are numerous attractions within easy reach including Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, the Two Moors Way and Watermouth Castle. At Croyde and Woolacombe you will find some of the best surf beaches in the country, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor has lots to offer including Tarr Steps, the village of Withypool and a walk up Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor.
A day out into west Somerset is recommended with places such as Porlock Weir, the pretty harbour village of Watchet, medieval Dunster village and the National Trust’s Dunster Castle and Gardens. The seaside town of Minehead nearby is home to the West Somerset Steam Railway. There are plenty of National Trust properties locally, including Arlington Court, Knightshayes and Combe Park.
