Outside, there is the use of a private hot tub as well as a private swimming pool. There is a large well tended garden with plenty of space and sitting out areas for all to enjoy and a play area for small children. Located just outside the village of Beaford, there is also a local pub within walking distance.
North Devon has plenty to see and do, and is home to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach is at Instow and is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses, and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Great Torrington is only a short drive away and has most amenities you may require. The larger regional town of Barnstaple has a busy high street, the Pannier Market and famous Butchers Row. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. For the younger ones a visit to the Big Sheep or Milky Way Adventure Parks is a good option. There is walking on Dartmoor or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail, and there is also golf and fishing available locally.
Beaford House is also a registered wedding venue and as well as the large house, there is also access to a great, well equipped function room should you decide to spend your big day here. Shop 5 miles, pub ¾ mile.

The four pretty barn conversions, Warren Cottage (ref UKC2098), Halcyon Cottage (ref UKC2099), Tarquol Cottage (ref UKC2100) and Old Nog Cottage (ref UKC2101) are terraced and sit within a courtyard, whilst Tarka’s Holt Log Cabin (ref UKC2102) is detached, and all five enjoy use of the owner’s 6 acres of private parkland comprising an orchard, with a spacious children’s play area with swings and a climbing frame and animals to see including two Dartmoor ponies, sheep and hens. There’s also a level 1-acre field with a football goal and rugby posts, which is also ideal for kite flying and cricket. The ideal choice for a romantic break for two or a family holiday, the cottages are close to a wooded walk amongst numerous young trees running alongside the pony and sheep field, and an indoor heated swimming pool.
The holiday cottages are 3 miles from Great Torrington, where shops, pubs, restaurants, a public indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and sports hall can be found. The stunning beaches of the North Devon coast are less than 10 miles away - with sailing, fishing and a sandy beach at Instow, surfing at Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay, Putsborough and Woolacombe, as well as lofty cliffs and headlands along the rocky fringes of Hartland. Lots of activities for friends and families nearby including golf, horse riding, sailing, fishing, shooting, cycle hire and walking. The Tarka Trail long distance footpath and cycle way passes within ¼ mile and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor are less than 2 miles away. The beautiful moorland areas of Exmoor and Dartmoor are also within easy reach. This picturesque location provides the perfect base for a leisurely and peaceful holiday, with many coastal, woodland and moorland walks in the surrounding area and many local places of interest to visit. Four Seasons Cottage is a beautiful cottage with a gorgeous, comfortable interior. There’s a living room with a wood burner and Smart TV, and the kitchen/diner is the hub of the cottage with all you’ll need for your holiday. Indulge in the cinema room with a 55” cinema-style Smart TV. Outside there is plenty to do from lounging on the patio and pebbled garden to having a soak in the hot tub! Between April and October, the outdoor above-ground pool (non-heated) will be available to use. Shared facilities include a sports/games lawn and access to 7.5 acres of land including free coarse fishing on the private lake. The owner will accept up to three/four horses on request, subject to availability. There are several resident horses on site, and you can arrange a grooming session at no cost during your stay, supervised by the owner and subject to availability. You are also welcome to collect eggs from the free-range chickens, proving great fun for everyone.
The property is a great base for exploring both North Devon and North Cornwall, boasting some of the best beaches in the country many of which are dog friendly and around 20-minute drive away. The famous Tarka trail walk is in easy reach just a few minutes’ drive away from the cottage, Along the way you will find many dog-friendly pubs and restaurants. Regularly used by walkers, runners and cyclists. There are many family attractions a short drive away including mini theme parks, farm parks, adventure centres for those adrenaline seekers, gardens, museums and stately homes. Just over 5 miles from Torrington or Great Torrington, a town built on the site of an ancient settlement at the top of a cliff with the river Torridge below. The town benefits from some great views and a regular pannier market. 18 miles from the capital town of Barnstaple with its Queens Theatre, cinema, leisure centre, tennis centre and indoor trampoline centre.
North Devon offers fantastic attractions such as Exmoor National Park with its ‘Dark Sky Reserve’. Explore coastal towns and villages such as Lynton and Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and Clovelly village all boasting breathtaking scenery. Tuckenhay Mill is the centrepiece of a cluster of country homes and cottages with superb leisure facilities including two indoor and one outdoor pools.
The Mill which once produced some of the finest paper in the land, nestles in the green and shady Bow Creek, a languid inlet of the River Dart where private yachts have replaced the old tall-masted ships and barges. Around the mill are all the buildings which once went to make up a small bustling village port. These listed buildings have been sympathetically restored and converted to a delightful range of holiday properties to suit larger family parties. South Devon awaits you
Tuckenhay is only a 20-minute drive from the superb award-winning beach at Blackpool Sands and about 30 minutes from a surfing beach at Bantham, as well as some of the best natural beaches to be found anywhere in the UK.
There is also extensive access to the coastal footpath for walking and the wilderness that is Dartmoor for walking, climbing and riding.
This is a mecca for ramblers, bird-watchers, swimmers, surfers, horse riders, golfers and those interested in fishing, boating, sailing and windsurfing.
In addition, there are many historic NT houses to visit including Agatha Christies’s Greenway as well as a local vineyard.

Great care has been taken to retain the feel of the original buildings. Most have garden, terrace or patio. Many cottages have more than one bathroom and some have an en-suite bathroom to every bedroom. Kitchens are comprehensively equipped: most have dishwashers and all have microwave cookers.
Couples and honeymooners will feel snug and comfortable in the cottages: Mill Leat, Mill Stream, Mill Spring and now Mill Bank. Families can spread out in Papermaker’s or Turbine Cottages, while Mill Lodge, Edgecombe Barn and Tuckenhay Mill House will sleep larger parties in comfort. Of course, combinations of cottages can accommodate bigger gatherings of family or friends.

The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. There is a large games room set over two floors, including a fitness room with a cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike. The top floor of the games room has a full-size American pool table, big sofa and Sky TV. The bottom floor has table tennis and table football. On-site there is also a laundry and ironing room. If you are looking for adventure and an adrenalin rush, then Wheeldon Farm Cottages will not disappoint. The Wheeldon Off-Road Centre, adjacent to the cottages, boasts a purpose-built, 30,000 square foot indoor arena (split in separate halves for motorbikes and bicycles) and junior training circuit, and is the ideal year-round venue for the whole family to learn to ride a motorcycle in a fun and controlled environment. Discounted rates are available for children and adults during the school holidays (booking by arrangement and on arrival), providing children and adults with the opportunity to experience the ultimate, two-wheel off-road adventure for the first time. The instructors at Wheeldon Farm are all ACU accredited and will guide the children through their paces every step of the way. For some activities, all the kit, clothing, boots, gloves, helmets and fun bikes are provided. All that’s needed is the enthusiasm to have a great deal of fun! Wheeldon Farm now offers all of it’s holiday cottage customers a free 1 hour ‘taster’ ride on our professionally maintained Haibike electric bikes, after which they are available to hire. The bikes are perfect for exploring the beautiful South Devon countryside in an environmentally friendly way. We can advise you on the best routes to ride and places to explore.

In addition to all the motorbike fun, a range of other activities can also be organised locally, including horse riding, golf, go-karting and trout and carp fishing. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday.
