The Hind House has been refurbished in 2018 to a very good standard and was the original living quarters for the farm works at Cottam Warren Farm. Situated down a long drive and nestled under large beech trees to the edge of this working arable farm, this detached house has wonderful views over the rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds with the market town of Driffield, only 4 miles away. Within easy reach of the property are numerous stately homes including Sledmere House and Burton Agnes Hall, quiet Wolds villages and the market towns of Beverley and Malton, not to mention the seaside resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough. For those wishing to explore a little further afield, York, Whitby and the Yorkshire Moors are all less than an hours’ drive away.

The kitchen has a working Aga, but don’t worry an electric oven is also available for those not wishing to use this traditional farmhouse oven. An Aga cookbook is on hand with lots of delicious recipes to try. The dining room sits in the middle of the property and retains the sweeping staircase and a large picture window. Farrington House is a stunning, luxury retreat in a very quiet area of the Yorkshire Wolds. This large detached house is surrounded by countryside and long walks, perfect for children, or for the dogs. The house has a large enclosed garden and then access to a further 2 acres of wildlife meadow.

Oakwood is situated just in front of Sewerby Hall and Gardens, a beautiful Georgian mansion set in 50-acres of landscaped gardens, plus a zoo to keep the children entertained. This detached property lies in the village of Sewerby, on the clifftops of the east Yorkshire coast overlooking the bay of Bridlington. The seafront is just a short stroll away, where you can walk along the clifftop to Bridlington, or catch the land train which runs several times a day throughout the summer. In the opposite direction is Danes Dyke, a local nature reserve. For those of you with dogs, the walks along the cliffs are breathtaking, and this is the reason why so many walkers return to this area year after year. There is also a large grassed area where you can enjoy a picnic or perhaps a game of cricket. Alternatively, spend a lazy afternoon watching the local village team play cricket and take in the stunning scenery of the coast.

Bridlington is a busy, traditional seaside resort and still has a working harbour, where you can watch the boats come in with their catch. Flamborough Head and the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton are close by. See the puffins in their natural habitat, as well as kittiwakes, guillemots and gannets. There are many stately homes to visit in the area, including Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and Castle Howard. Hull, the City of Culture 2017, and the medieval city of York can be reached within an hour by both car or train. The market towns of Beverley, Driffield and Pocklington, with their charming independent shops and cafes, are well worth a visit. Built in 1696, this terraced holiday home is oozing with character and charm, and has been tastefully decorated and furnished, using a contemporary mix of new, vintage and up-cycled furniture and fittings. Nell’s Cottage is situated in the popular old town of Bridlington, which was made famous by the film ‘Dad’s Army’. The property used to be a sweet shop and boasts a delightful private terraced area to the rear, which is great for socialising and an al fresco supper in the summer.

The property is set back from the old town of Bridlington which used to be two separate towns, but over the years it has now joined to make one. Most visitors go straight to the seafront, but there is also a beautiful cosmopolitan part of the old town. The main street has lots of little independent shops and galleries, as well as good restaurants and local pubs. At the far end of the main street, you reach the Priory Church, one of Bridlington’s hidden gems. For over 900 years, this church has been serving the people of Bridlington and is renowned for its excellent choir and musical events that are held throughout the year. The Bayle Museum dates back to the 12th-century and is situated just in front of the Priory Church. This used to be the gatehouse to the Priory and is now a fantastic museum.

The seaside resort of Bridlington is a bustling fishing harbour, with lots to see and do. It has been popular over the years with families, due to its large sandy beaches and the traditional seaside donkeys, sticks of rock and sandcastles. On an evening why not enjoy a night at the popular Bridlington Spa, host to lots of international acts. From the seafront you can catch the land train to Sewerby Hall, just a short ride along the clifftops which is always a favourite with children. Sewerby Hall is just one of many stately homes in the area. A free Sewerby Hall family pass (2 adults/2 children) is available to Nell’s guests during their stay. There’s also Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere and of course, Castle Howard to name a few.

In less than an hour you can be in Hull or York. Hull being voted the city of culture 2017 and York has been voted one of the UKs best tourist destinations, steeped in history and definitely worth a visit. North of Bridlington there’s Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs, where you’ll find the RSPB sanctuary, where thousands of migrating seabirds are seen here every year and is definitely a bird watcher’s paradise. Watch the puffins on the cliff sides or spot the seals and dolphins. The Way of the Roses cycle track starts in Morecambe (in Lancashire) and finishes in Bridlington and is a 170-mile coast to coast cycle route, perfect for the experience, and those wishing to enjoy a leisurely bike ride with family. The Roost is a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom detached property with an enclosed garden in the grounds of Manor Farm Cottages in the village of Buckton. Close to the RSPB Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve where you can see puffins, gannets and guillemots in their natural habitat, the area is a bird watcher’s haven, home to more than 250,000 sea birds. You can walk to Bempton Cliffs from the cottages, or it is a 5-minute drive.

Enjoying delightful countryside and a peaceful village setting close to the east coast, this charming cottage has been converted, along with two other holiday homes, from former stables and a hayloft.

A warm welcome awaits as you drive into what was the old farmyard. The cottage, along with Puffin Cottage and Guillemot Cottage, encompass the square, each with its own patio; a real sun trap and sheltered from the weather. The cottage is a great base to visit the east coast, Dalby Forest, the North York Moors National Park, the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds made famous by the David Hockney paintings, and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is some excellent cycling in the area with the Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Route on your doorstep, with its scenic 146-mile tour of the East Riding and North Yorkshire. With breathtaking views along the coast. The owner is a keen cyclist himself and knows exactly what you need by providing an excellent bike store, along with a repair and wash area and tools and sprays required for servicing the bikes.

The seaside resorts of Scarborough, Bridlington and Filey are just a short drive away with large, open sandy beaches, caves and coves, or for those of you who prefer a quieter resort, Flamborough Head is close by with stunning walks along the clifftops from North to South Landing.

Visit the stately homes and beautiful gardens of Burton Agnes, Castle Howard and Sledmere House, and a children’s zoo and land train at Sewerby Hall. The bustling market towns of Malton, Pickering and Beverley, renowned for its minster and racecourse, are all worth a visit.

The historic city of York is just an hour away with its wide variety of museums including the Railway Museum, Castle Museum and the Jorvik Viking centre. York is very picturesque with cobbled streets surrounding the magnificent minster, along with river boat trips, street entertainers and an abundance of restaurants and real ale inns.

In Buckton and Bempton villages, you are just ½ mile from a cafe and art gallery, the village post office and corner shop, as well as the local pub, The White Horse.

Linden Manor, built in 2022, can be found in the harbour town of Bridlington, on the stunning North Yorkshire coastline. Stepping over the threshold into the entrance hallway, you will be welcomed by tasteful décor with both flair and character.
