For charging devices you will also find USB ports throughout the barn, so no need to panic if you forget your chargers! Why not take some time to chill upon a pew in the glass atrium, whilst basking in the sunlight. The glass walkway also leads to the boudoir quarter. Lovely forest walks start from the door and angling, cycling, canoeing, riding and climbing are available nearby, whilst the myriad attractions of the Forest range from a steam railway to a butterfly zoo. Forest Hills Golf Course, Coleford is only 8 minutes away. The Wye Valley and historic Monmouth’s excellent range of leisure facilities are within a half hour’s drive as are Gloucester’s celebrated docks, outlet shopping and magnificent cathedral. Situated within the grounds of the owner’s home and working farm, these two semi-detached, single-storey barn conversions and detached cottage are comfortable holiday homes from which to explore the delights that the Forest of Dean has to offer. A tour of the farm to see the livestock can be arranged directly with the owner.
Each property benefits from a wood burner or electric coal-effect fire, perfect for keeping cosy in the winter months. To the front of the properties is a shared lawned area where guests are welcome to enjoy picnics.
Cider Press Barn (ref UK12379) offers three bedrooms, two double, one with an en-suite shower room, and a further single. To the rear of the property is a private, enclosed courtyard garden with a built in barbecue, great for al fresco dining. The courtyard itself is a sun trap and is perfect for relaxing in the evenings.
Lambing Shed (ref UK12380) is a characterful property, though what really stands out is the attention and thought that has gone into the kitchen and living space, encouraging families to spend time together. The wood burner is surrounded by an outstanding open brick wall, providing a rustic appeal. From the kitchen window you have a great view across the farm courtyard and over the fields. Off the living room is a double bedroom with en-suite facilities, and further down the hallways is a twin bedroom and a shower room.
In the Forest of Dean itself, there are many picnic sites, pathways and cycle tracks to be found. Outdoor activities are plentiful with riding and canoeing available in the local area and the cathedral city of Gloucester is within easy driving distance. Flowers Barn is a beautifully converted detached Cotswold stone barn, still boasting many original features throughout. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, between Duntisbourne Rouse and Duntisbourne Leer. The name is taken from the River Dunt which flows through the village, and also from monks at the Abbey of Gloucester who controlled the area in the 13th century. Flowers Barn is adjacent to the owners’ working farm and occupies a beautiful countryside setting.
Built mainly in the time of Charles II, Flowers Barn was once home to aspiring writer and farm owner Eliza in the early 18th century. Eliza came to inherit 420-acres of land off her father, rather than one of her four brothers, and dedicated her life to the farm. She was a very bright and keen horsewoman, who was the first in the area to own a bicycle and a gas cooker. Eliza worked on the farm up until her death in 1901.
This is a perfect place to stay when in the Cotswolds, being just a 10-minute drive from Roman Cirencester and 20 minutes’ drive from Cheltenham and its famous horse racing festival in March each year. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes for active guests, and this is a very central position from which to visit the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, including Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury, Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Campden. Both Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon are also a convenient drive away.

Wotton-under-Edge sits right on the famous Cotswolds Way. This friendly village has a plethora of traditional cottages, with a village high street that includes independent shops including crafts and country boutiques, as well as a cinema, allow yourself some extra time when meandering as the shopkeepers love to stop and chat. You will also find all the essentials too, such as green grocers for picking up your organic produce, a butchers for some fine local produce for cooking up a hearty meal for all. Why not take a trip to the family run Winner Hill Vineyard, to pick up a sparkling white to accompany your dinner. It is said by many that it’s just as good as some of the best French bottles. You can even make an afternoon of it and partake in some tasting for a fun day out. A little further beyond, you will find Tetbury is 10 miles away, and Bath and Bristol are both 20 miles. Badminton is 5 miles and Berkeley Castle, Wildfowl Trust at Slimbridge and Westonbirt Arboretum all within easy distance. Golf can also be found nearby. Beach 21 miles. Lords Cottage has been redecorated to a high standard in 2022, located in the town of Coleford in the heart of the Forest of Dean it is just a couple of miles from the forest. There are fabulous walks within the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean which boasts some stunning scenery. This is a perfect base from which to visit nearby family attractions which include Clearwell Caves, The Secret Forest, Puzzlewood, Perrygrove Steam Railway, a sculpture trail, and a railway museum. The Forest of Dean has always been a huge draw for cyclists (and the cottage has a lockable dry garage to store bikes) and walkers. Areas within easy reach include Beechenhurst and Mallards Pike.
Symonds Yat is a popular destination for ornithologists due to the presence of nesting peregrine falcons. The Wye Valley also offers a variety of river-based activities such as canoeing and fishing. A wide variety of shops, restaurants and pubs within a 5-minute walk. The town of Monmouth is a short drive from the property and has some great boutique shops and not to mention Monmouth Castle and the Monnow Bridge!
Lords Cottage comprises of large lounge with Smart TV leading to an open plan kitchen and dining area, with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, and microwave, the kitchen leads to the enclosed private garden with seating area and garden furniture. Bike storage attached to the garden which can be accessed from the front or rear of the garden. To the first floor there is a family bathroom with bath and shower over, master bedroom with king-size bed and double aspect windows, twin bedroom and full size bunkbeds in the third bedroom. Parking is on street at the front of the property. This property also benefits from a selection of toys and games, a nightlight in the bunk room, children’s plastic crockery, cups and cutlery as well as complimentary handwash and shower gel.

The local areas have fascinating history and heritage and cycling enthusiasts will find plenty of cycle trails. Bike hire is only 1 mile from the cottage. There are also two fantastic pubs within walking distance. Nearby our guests can enjoy Symonds Yat Rock, Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves, Stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, Go Ape and many more activities. There is good fishing, RSPB reserves, riding, golf and tennis.
