The interior has a lovely calming decor and with full height doors and windows in the living space, the amazing lake scenery can be seen and enjoyed whatever the weather.
The open plan kitchen and dining area are central to the home and the living area opens out onto the deck with outdoor furniture and a BBQ for the warmer days. In winter you can curl up on the couch in front of the gas fire and enjoy the extraordinary views over the lake from the comfort of the sofa.
A bedroom and bathroom can be found on the ground floor for anyone not wanting to venture upstairs and the other four bedrooms and two bathrooms are spread out over the two floors above so plenty of space for everyone.

Flowers Barn is a beautifully converted detached Cotswold stone barn, still boasting many original features throughout. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, between Duntisbourne Rouse and Duntisbourne Leer. The name is taken from the River Dunt which flows through the village, and also from monks at the Abbey of Gloucester who controlled the area in the 13th century. Flowers Barn is adjacent to the owners’ working farm and occupies a beautiful countryside setting.
Built mainly in the time of Charles II, Flowers Barn was once home to aspiring writer and farm owner Eliza in the early 18th century. Eliza came to inherit 420-acres of land off her father, rather than one of her four brothers, and dedicated her life to the farm. She was a very bright and keen horsewoman, who was the first in the area to own a bicycle and a gas cooker. Eliza worked on the farm up until her death in 1901.
This is a perfect place to stay when in the Cotswolds, being just a 10-minute drive from Roman Cirencester and 20 minutes’ drive from Cheltenham and its famous horse racing festival in March each year. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes for active guests, and this is a very central position from which to visit the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, including Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury, Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Campden. Both Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon are also a convenient drive away.
The accommodation provides upside down living with the bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor and the living room and kitchen on the first floor. Outside there is a well-kept front garden with seating area and garden furniture. There is a driveway offering off road parking and a bike store can be made available should guests wish to bring their own bikes to leave the car behind and explore the area. As the main town in the north-western area of the Cotswolds of high hills and secluded coomb (with its magnificent ’wool’ church, wide market street and beautiful buildings that span at least five centuries), this would make the perfect base from which to tour and explore. Why not take some time to chill upon a pew in the glass atrium, whilst basking in the sunlight. The glass walkway also leads to the boudoir quarter. Each bedroom has its very own feature bathroom and you will be spoilt for choice with roll-top baths and walk-in rainfall wet rooms to choose from.
Outside you have an abundance of space within your large private courtyard. It’s a great space to dine alfresco. Don your chefs hat and rustle up a country BBQ, relax upon a bench whilst sipping a cold refreshing drink or indulge in a personal training session or yoga for one to one or more (must be booked in advance). This listed 17th-century wing of a farmhouse has been refurbished in January 2020 with installation of a new kitchen, bathroom suite and central heating with radiators. It is furnished to a very good standard and retains many period features including low beamed ceilings, open fireplace and traditional cottage stairs. Now a commercial livery yard, the farm is in a rural position at the end of a country lane near Breadstone village, close to Berkeley Castle. It provides an ideal base for a holiday visiting Slimbridge, the world famous Badminton Horse Trials, Cheltenham Gold Cup, Cheltenham racecourse, Gloucester and the Cotswolds. Fern Bank Cottage sits in the Forest of Dean with direct access to cycle routes and beautiful walks from the front door. Our cottage is an ideal place to explore this fabulous area.

The cottage is full of home-from-home comforts including a large kitchen leading into a spacious living room with a wood burner, Smart TV and bi-fold doors leading to a large, decked area with garden furniture. At the front of the cottage, you will find the snug, a cosy second sitting room with plenty of games and books to enjoy. Upstairs there are three large bedrooms, with the master having an en-suite shower room and a family-sized bathroom.

The local areas have fascinating history and heritage and cycling enthusiasts will find plenty of cycle trails. Bike hire is only 1 mile from the cottage. There are also two fantastic pubs within walking distance. Nearby our guests can enjoy Symonds Yat Rock, Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves, Stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, Go Ape and many more activities. There is good fishing, RSPB reserves, riding, golf and tennis. The market towns of Ross-on-Wye, Chepstow and Monmouth are within easy driving distance from Fern Bank Cottage as we are just 5 miles from the beautiful Wye Valley.

Flyby Cottage Is situated in English Bicknor in the Forest of Dean, being an ideal property for friends or family looking to explore this beautiful part of England. The property comprises an open plan dining area and kitchen with a Freeview TV. There’s also a utility room with a washing machine. The ground floor includes a bathroom with bath and electric shower over, as well as a living room with Freeview TV. To the first floor you’ll find a twin room and a double room, as well as a separate toilet. Step outside into the large, enclosed garden with a lawn, and inviting patio area with garden furniture – perfect for letting your four-legged friends out to roam. There’s also off road parking on the drive available for two vehicles.
