Black Pan Holiday Cottage is a beautifully presented ground floor apartment, with its own enclosed rear garden, that adjoins the owners home and is accessed by a bridle path. It is clear a lot of time and effort has been put into the creation of this delightful holiday home. The layout has been extremely well thought out with an innovative space saving premium design kitchen installed and an open plan living/dining/kitchen with Wi-Fi. There is a lovely spacious shower room with monsoon shower, his and hers wash basins, a large double bedroom with a top of the range mattress added for a great night’s sleep, and a useful dressing table/writing desk to write all those postcards. The owner has a background of working with animals and has ensured that the property is also more than dog friendly, making it the perfect base to explore all that the south east side of the Isle of Wight has to offer with your four-legged friends. The rear garden has a lockable gate, outside tap for the cyclists amongst you.

The apartment is located in Lake, which is situated between the popular seaside towns of Sandown and Shanklin. The nearest beach at Lake is moments from the property and shares the same gently sloping golden sands and clear swimming waters of its neighbours. At the rear of the beach, the cliff rises steeply creating a dramatic looking natural screen and shelter for the beach at the foot of which runs the sea wall, path and cycleway. The beach can be accessed from a set of steps from the top of the cliff path which is close to Lake’s Island-line train station. Because this beach is tucked away and not as straightforward to reach as its resort neighbours, it is very often quieter during the busier months, making it a peaceful alternative for a day on the beach. As the waters are quieter this is a great beach for surfing and water sports as the sea is shallow and clear. There is an instructional school which is located at the back of the beach that offers a whole range of activities for all ages and abilities. There are beach huts which you can look to hire and also a number of benches to sit on along the sea wall path when the tide is further in. The walk along the sea wall between Sandown and Shanklin along the back of the beach is highly recommended as it offers a wide, flat path which is ideal for both walkers and cyclists.

Sandown is a truly traditional British beach resort with pier, amusements, pitch ’n’ putt, Isle of Wight Zoo and the Dinosaur Isle attraction at the northern end of the esplanade towards Yaverland and Culver Cliff. At the other end of the path you will reach Shanklin Esplanade which is again packed full of amusements and crazy golf as well as several places to eat. There is also Shanklin Chine to explore, carved by Mother Nature’s own hands over thousands of years. The stunning tree lined gorge cuts its mark from the old village down to the sandy beach and esplanade below. In the evening, the waterfalls and woodland are illuminated, giving the gardens a totally different aspect and atmosphere.

There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages including The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Visit Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes. Serena is a spacious, detached property with off-road parking for up to four vehicles at the front and a large enclosed rear garden. The stretches of sand at Ryde offer fantastic views across the Solent to Portsmouth, with the landmark Spinnaker Tower forming an impressive backdrop to a busy shipping channel, which carries an interesting array of freight, passenger and military ships, a great place to take your four-legged friends for their walks. Along the promenade, you will find tennis courts, ten pin bowling, a fun fair, a canoe lake and a swimming pool, providing plenty to do within the local area. You can also enjoy the scenic coastal walks, go crabbing, sailing, fishing, horse riding, golf or even go-karting, all of which are easily accessible from the property. Tennyson Down House is a beautiful four bedroom Victorian detached holiday home located 500 yards from the tranquil Freshwater Bay and within walking distance of cafes, restaurant and grocers. Arriving at Tennyson Down House, you will enter via double gates on to the driveway, through the front door you are welcomed in to the bright and airy hallway with new oak flooring throughout the downstairs. It leads to the living room with an open fireplace, Smart TV, sofas and French doors on to the front garden. Also on the ground floor is the large open-plan kitchen/dining room with a breakfast bar. The stunning fitted kitchen comes with electric oven, induction hob and fridge/freezer, opening on to the breakfast bar where you can enjoy a morning coffee or breakfast. The dining area, with large oak refectory table, offers a bright feel with French doors opening on to the garden. Also on the ground floor is a large spacious utility room with a door leading on to a courtyard where you can find an outdoor shower which is perfect to wash the sand off after a day on the beach, in the utility room there is a washing machine, tumble dryer and second fridge. There is also a shower room located on the ground floor.
On the first floor is the master bedroom with a double bed and a beautiful en-suite with a roll top bath with shower attachment. Bedroom two has a double bed and en-suite with a shower cubicle, bedroom three offers three single beds and bedroom four is a double. Both the master bedroom and second bedroom offer views of the sea across the bay. There is also a family bathroom with bath and shower attachment. The garden is located at the front of the property and is mainly laid to lawn with garden furniture and picnic table. The house is a few yards from open National Trust downland, 2½ miles from the world famous Needles attraction, one of many places to visit during your trip. The Bay itself is perfect for swimming, playing on the beach and offers some water sports. Golf is available at Freshwater Bay Golf Club ¾ mile away, offering fantastic views across the bay. For walkers and cyclists you can use the local paths, long distance trails and sea path, or even complete the whole island which is just under 70 miles around. The location of the property offers many different activities or just relax. Travel via ferry from Lymington, Southampton or Portsmouth, Yarmouth is the nearest ferry car and foot passenger terminal which is 3 miles to the property.

The position of Captain’s Cottage couldn’t be better, it is right in the heart of this beautiful seaside resort, with shops, bars, and restaurants on your doorstep. It’s only a 10-minute stroll to the wonderful sandy beaches too. Shanklin is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the island, home to the Old Village and Shanklin Chine. The seafront is packed with amusements, activities, and crazy golf courses. Within a moment’s walk of Captain’s Cottage is the bus station, which has great links to anywhere on the island and there is also an open-top bus in the summer season, great for sight seeing. At the end of the road, there is also a train station, which stops at several coastal towns. Osborne House was once Queen Victoria’s favourite residence and is open to the public and well worth a visit, as are Carisbrook Castle, The Needles rock formations, Robin Hill park with acres of parkland, natural woodland, countryside gardens, adventures, and special events, Ventnor Botanical Gardens and Shanklin Chine, a deep wooded gorge with streams and waterfalls.
