The kitchen and dining room are merged together and is well equipped with all you may need to rustle up a meal for your loved ones, making another great space for socialising after a day’s adventures. Upstairs you’ll find two well-furnished bedrooms offering either king-size or three single beds, all ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep, and hairstraighteners are also provided. Also on this floor is the bathroom, combining a bath with a shower over, offering the versatility of a refreshing shower and the indulgence of a relaxing bath in one convenient space.
Shanklin and its surrounding area offer a plethora of captivating sights and engaging activities for visitors to explore. In Shanklin itself, one can start by strolling along the picturesque Shanklin Chine, a stunning gorge with lush vegetation, cascading waterfalls, and enchanting pathways. The Old Village is another must-visit, with its charming thatched-roof cottages, quaint shops, and cosy tearooms exuding a delightful ambience. A visit to Shanklin Beach is a must, with its golden sands stretching along the coastline, or the nearby Sandown Bay also offers opportunities for water sports such as kayaking or paddleboarding.
Beyond Shanklin, the Isle of Wight has much to offer. A visit to the iconic Needles is a sight not to be missed, with The Needles Park providing a range of attractions including breathtaking views. History buffs can explore Carisbrooke Castle, a medieval fortress with a rich past, while outdoor enthusiasts can venture into the island’s countryside, with its rolling hills, picturesque villages and scenic walks, or enjoy the many activities the island has to offer.

Located just a short distance from the fantastic beaches at Yaverland, Sandown, Shanklin, Bembridge and St Helens, this delightful holiday home is great for couples, whether they are looking for a full week’s holiday or a short break. The detached apartment consists of a spacious open plan living room, kitchen and dining area. There are two bedrooms, a spacious double bedroom and a bunk bedroom with single bed. There is a family shower room with shower cubicle, toilet and heated towel rail. Greenwood Cottage is pet friendly (although there are no enclosed garden areas), and is the perfect base from which to explore all that the eastern side of the Isle of Wight has to offer. The cottage is situated within the 11-acre grounds of Greenwood Farm, which are available for guests to enjoy as they wish. There are stables and paddocks available for use (arranged direct with the owner) and a public footpath runs along the farm that connects to Brading High Down and beyond. Peace and quiet flora and fauna abounds. Attractions nearby within easy walking distance include Brading Roman Villa, one of the finest Roman sites in the UK. Its visitor centre and museum offers unique insights into Roman life in Britain, with exhibits ranging from beautifully preserved mosaic floors to an extensive collection of Roman archaeology.
The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off-road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks running along former railway lines. You can cycle across the width of the island to the famous Needles landmark or try the full round the island route, which is 66 miles long and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee held over the bank holiday in May. You can also travel along the route at a more leisurely pace, stopping off along the way at one of the many restaurants, pubs and cafés that can be found in the quaint villages and towns.
Other outdoor pursuits on the island include horse riding, fishing, paragliding, golf and water sports. There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages, such as The Needles (with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay), Blackgang Chine, Dinosaur Isle, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park and Carisbrooke Castle - or why not pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens? Longford Cottage has been newly refurbished for 2023, and has been beautifully furnished; this cottage is a great choice for a holiday on the Isle of Wight. There are two double bedrooms, one of which is located on the ground floor, and a further snug with a chair bed and the best view. A beautiful kitchen with patio doors leading out to the garden, a charming living room, and a storage area for boot, coats, bicycles or kayaks and this room completes the ground floor. The absolute show stopper at Longford Cottage is the bathroom which definitely has the wow factor! There is a lovely garden with a stunning rural view. Sonos speakers have been installed throughout this beautiful cottage, so you can have music wherever you go.
Havenstreet is a delightful village approximately 2 miles from the seaside resort of Ryde. Havenstreet is home to the award-winning attraction which is the Isle of Wight steam railway. The village also has a great pub which also serves delicious food. There are many cycle trails from the village which will take you through beautiful rolling scenery. The “Island” as locals refer to it, has so much to offer such as The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Blackgang Chine, Dinosaur Isle, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle and Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens are some of the attractions on offer.
