Seasalter is a popular holiday destination due to the long stretches of beach and lovely walks and cycle routes along the coast.
Thyme and Tide, renovated in 2022 to a very good standard, is the ideal property for family holidays or just chilling out with the dogs. With great original artwork, many pieces sourced locally, comfortable slouchy couches and a large dining area for entertaining. The lodge is a home from home.
The village of Seasalter can be found on the north coast of Kent, facing the Isle of Sheppey across the mouth of the River Swale. It is located five miles north of historic Canterbury, between Whitstable and Faversham.
Seasalter, as it name implies, was an important centre for the production of salt as far back as the Iron Age and it was raided by Vikings due to its prosperity. By 1086 it was recorded in the Domesday Book as belonging to the "kitchen of the Archbishop" of Canterbury. At the western end of the village on the Faversham Road the local pub is like a welcoming lighthouse as visitors approach across the flat marshes. There has been an inn there since 1642. Located in the historic town of Faversham, within the conservation area of the abbey, and as such, has been noted as one of the finest examples of a medieval street in Britain, where antique and craft shops, quaint tea rooms and old English pubs are in abundance.

The side door of this property opens straight into the cosy lounge with comfy sofas that you can curl up on in front of the wood burner and enjoy catching up on your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. From the lounge, walk through to the formal dining room with a dining table and seating for six before entering the light and bright kitchen/dining room with two sets of French doors out into the garden. The kitchen/diner offers everything you’ll need for whipping up delicious meals with an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. While cooking, chefs can chat to other guests sitting at the large farmhouse table in the dining area, where there is also a Smart TV. A traditional Rayburn keeps the kitchen warm and toasty and is the perfect spot for your four-legged friend to curl up in front of. There is also a small library with an ample supply of reading material to keep you going whilst you curl up in front of the open fire on a chilly evening. The ground floor is completed with a shower room with shower and toilet. Stairs from between the dining room and library lead up to the first floor where there are three bedrooms, a spacious kingsize with an en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet and two double bedrooms. Completing the first floor is the bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet.

Take a stroll to the nearby brewery and tour one of England’s oldest breweries before sampling the delights at the home of the world’s largest fruit collection; there are also lots of dog walks around the area. The excitements of Canterbury are not far away, and the wildlife rich ’Oare Wildlife Marshes’ is also within easy reach. Closer still is the pretty town of Whitstable, famed for its oysters and safe swimming spots and plentiful water sports.

Smugglers Cottage is a quaint, terraced cottage in an ideal location in Margate, a great getaway for couples and families to enjoy a seaside holiday. The cottage is in the heart of the old town with its numerous restaurants and bars on the doorstep and is just minutes from the sea. Local attractions include the theme park Dreamland Margate, with its iconic scenic railway and vintage amusements. Further afield, you will find the award-winning coast of Viking Bay in Broadstairs, famous for its folk week in the summer and Ramsgate harbour.

There are several boutique shops that are well worth a visit, or you can simply wander along the city streets to take in Canterbury’s remarkable culture. Coastguard Cottage is in a unique location on the coast of Swalecliffe near Whitstable. Boasting sea views from each room, the property has bi-fold doors opening onto decking where guests can enjoy sitting on the decking and overlooking the Thames Estuary. Decorated and furnished to a very good standard, this three-bedroom terraced property is the perfect location for any family, group of friends or couples to enjoy a seaside holiday. The nearby holiday park offers evening entertainment and local facilities. A large expanse of lawn to the front of the property enables guests to walk their four-legged friends close to the property and take in the fantastic views along the coast. "Dating back to 1652, these two properties were originally part of a working dairy farm and offer a wonderful location, next to the owners’ home, in the coastal town of Margate. Farm Cottage (ref W43578) is a quaint, semi-detached, converted farmhouse comfortably sleeping 4 guests, and has been renovated to a good standard. Guests can enjoy access to a good-sized garden, an open plan living/dining room and a well-equipped kitchen, as well as a small chalk cave which is characteristic of the area and which the owners are happy to show guests around.
Stable Cottage (ref UKC3922), complete with its stable door, adjoins the owners’ converted farmhouse and is ideally suited to couples. This holiday cottage was renovated in 2018 to a good standard, retaining some original features including an exposed wall in the living room. Guests can enjoy access to a garden at the front of the cottage.
A short stroll from the properties will take you into the coastal town of Margate where local attractions include the famous Turner Gallery, Margate Old Town and Shell Grotto. Catch a band at the Winter Gardens or hop on a retro ride at Dreamland. Take a boat trip and spot seals on the sandbanks, or cycle the Viking Coastal Trail, one of the most attractive leisure cycle routes in Kent, covering 27 miles. A short drive will take you to Broadstairs, home to Viking Bay, with several fantastic walks, or why not visit Ramsgate Royal Harbour?
Broadstairs Folk Week takes place on the first weekend in August every year and it is only a 20-minute bus ride from the cottage. Don’t miss out on a trip to the historic city of Canterbury, with its dominating city walls and incredible cathedral. Perfect for families wanting a beach holiday, ramblers and dog walkers for long walks or bird watchers with RSPB Dungeness nature reserve nearby. If you prefer to hire a bike in Dungeness, you can cycle over Europe’s largest expanse of shingle.

Gull House really does offer something for everyone. The mixture of scenery is set within the backdrop of Dungeness lighthouse which assisted ships in trouble in the English Channel up until 1960. From the top of the lighthouse, you will be able to see miles across both Dungeness and Romney Marsh. You can watcht the sun rise from the back garden. Running alongside the property during the day is the steam railway so you will be able to wave at tourists or locals as they head across the landscape to explore further. This is just one of the exciting quirks that the landscape has to offer. A hop over the tracks leads you to the local pub within a few steps along with a fresh seafood shop also selling other groceries opposite. You have everything to hand to be able to relax and enjoy your stay. Should you wish to explore further afield then towns such as Rye, Camber, New Romney, and Ashford are all a short drive away and offer a variety of other attractions. Camber and its sand dunes stretching for miles offer an alternative to the shingle and the historic town of Rye with its cobbled streets and historic buildings makes for a great day out. Hythe to the east and Hastings to the west are both worth a visit.
