    Canterbury, a cathedral city in southeast England, was a pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages. Ancient walls, originally built by the Romans, encircle its medieval centre with cobbled streets and timber-framed houses. Canterbury Cathedral, founded in 597 AD, is the headquarters of the Church of England and Anglican Communion, incorporating Gothic and Romanesque elements in its stone carvings and stained-glass windows. Canterbury is only 6 miles from the beaches of Herne Bay and Whitstable a tiny bit further allows you to indulge yourself in the golden sandy beaches of Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate too!     "Dating back to 1652, these two properties were originally part of a working dairy farm and offer a wonderful location, next to the owners’ home, in the coastal town of Margate. Farm Cottage (ref W43578) is a quaint, semi-detached, converted farmhouse comfortably sleeping 4 guests, and has been renovated to a good standard. Guests can enjoy access to a good-sized garden, an open plan living/dining room and a well-equipped kitchen, as well as a small chalk cave which is characteristic of the area and which the owners are happy to show guests around.
    Stable Cottage (ref UKC3922), complete with its stable door, adjoins the owners’ converted farmhouse and is ideally suited to couples. This holiday cottage was renovated in 2018 to a good standard, retaining some original features including an exposed wall in the living room. Guests can enjoy access to a garden at the front of the cottage.
    A short stroll from the properties will take you into the coastal town of Margate where local attractions include the famous Turner Gallery, Margate Old Town and Shell Grotto. Catch a band at the Winter Gardens or hop on a retro ride at Dreamland. Take a boat trip and spot seals on the sandbanks, or cycle the Viking Coastal Trail, one of the most attractive leisure cycle routes in Kent, covering 27 miles. A short drive will take you to Broadstairs, home to Viking Bay, with several fantastic walks, or why not visit Ramsgate Royal Harbour?
    Broadstairs Folk Week takes place on the first weekend in August every year and it is only a 20-minute bus ride from the cottage. Enjoy views from the decking down the valley which is occasionally visited by herds of wild deer. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is an orchid conservation area, and makes a lovely place to visit in any season. For flower lovers, there are great gardens to visit nearby including the famous gardens at Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, Bateman’s, Scotney Castle and Charleston. The town of Wye is 4 miles away and has a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs, with a farmers’ market every other Saturday. There are also two local pubs within walking distance. With more than adequate travel links via bus and trains you can explore Thanet day by day easily and locally within 30 minutes maximum travel.     This is a great location for exploring the iconic city of Canterbury. The space This holiday space is a brick built garden room which has been separated from the main house by fencing creating a completely self-contained area for two guests. The ample bedroom has a super kingsize bed which can be separated into twin beds. The bedroom has wardrobes with space to hang clothes and shelves. A separate wardrobe is home to an iron and ironing board and a dustpan and brush. There is a dressing table with a hairdryer and a light-up make up mirror. A full length mirror is also on the front of the wardrobe. A Smart TV on the wall opposite the bed for those days when you just want to chill out in bed is there for your enjoyment. Accessed from the bedroom via a sliding pocket door is the shower room. This has a shower, wash hand basin and WC. The mirror over the basin has lighting and there is a shaver socket on the wall. Subtle low level spotlights allow the use of the WC without the need to put the main light on and the fan which is surprisingly quiet but could still be a disturbance in the night. The main room is both the kitchen and living space.
    There are two external doors - the main door accessed via a smart lock using your smart phone and a rear door with access to the patio area. The kitchen has a built in oven, hob, dishwasher and fridge with ice box. A lovely quartz worktop adds to the style. The kitchen has a Nespresso machine as well as the normal kettle and toaster along with cutlery and crockery and cooking pans etc. The living space has a sofa and chair and smart TV, and there is also a dining table with 2 chairs. The outside patio area, perfect for taking in the evening rays of sun has both a table with chairs and parasol as well as a rattan corner sofa.
