Kent has a lot to offer, and a short drive will take you to the famous city of Canterbury, known for its charming cobbled streets, boutique shops and dominant cathedral. Enjoy oysters in Whitstable, or take a trip to the seaside town of Herne Bay with its large promenade. Trips to London are also possible with links from Whitstable train station only a few minutes away. Beach 1 mile. Shop and pub ¼ mile, restaurant ½ mile.

Located in the historic town of Faversham, within the conservation area of the abbey, and as such, has been noted as one of the finest examples of a medieval street in Britain, where antique and craft shops, quaint tea rooms and old English pubs are in abundance.

While cooking, chefs can chat to other guests sitting at the large farmhouse table in the dining area, where there is also a Smart TV. A traditional Rayburn keeps the kitchen warm and toasty and is the perfect spot for your four-legged friend to curl up in front of. There is also a small library with an ample supply of reading material to keep you going whilst you curl up in front of the open fire on a chilly evening. The ground floor is completed with a shower room with shower and toilet. Stairs from between the dining room and library lead up to the first floor where there are three bedrooms, a spacious kingsize with an en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet and two double bedrooms. Completing the first floor is the bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet.

Take a stroll to the nearby brewery and tour one of England’s oldest breweries before sampling the delights at the home of the world’s largest fruit collection; there are also lots of dog walks around the area. The excitements of Canterbury are not far away, and the wildlife rich ’Oare Wildlife Marshes’ is also within easy reach. Closer still is the pretty town of Whitstable, famed for its oysters and safe swimming spots and plentiful water sports.

Coastguard Cottage is in a unique location on the coast of Swalecliffe near Whitstable. Boasting sea views from each room, the property has bi-fold doors opening onto decking where guests can enjoy sitting on the decking and overlooking the Thames Estuary. For a trip further afield, guests can take a ferry from Dover to the port of Calais in France, enjoy lunch in the city or take time for sightseeing. The local animal reserve of Howletts, known for contributing to the conservation of endangered wildlife, offers the opportunity to see lions, tigers, monkeys and much more. Within easy each of the A249, exploring Kent couldn’t be easier, with historic Canterbury, the pretty market town of Faversham and the Whitstable coastline within a 30-minute drive, whilst the beautiful parkland and gardens of Leeds Castle are just a 10-minute drive away.

Kingfisher Oast is a Grade II listed building forming part of a country estate in the heart of Hollingbourne village.
The oast was used for the storage of hops, and there are cute markings in one of the bedrooms recording the hop pickers activities dating back to the mid 1700s. The cottage has three bedrooms, all ensuite and a lovely sociable open plan living space on the ground floor. A bottle of English wine awaits your arrival.

The country style yet modern decor greets you as you enter the stunning property and is found through-out. The living room presents comfy sofas (one of which is a sofa-bed) and a good size TV with Blu-ray player and CD player (with a selection of both CDs and DVDs to enjoy). Perfect for families wanting a beach holiday, ramblers and dog walkers for long walks or bird watchers with RSPB Dungeness nature reserve nearby. If you prefer to hire a bike in Dungeness, you can cycle over Europe’s largest expanse of shingle.

Running alongside the property during the day is the steam railway so you will be able to wave at tourists or locals as they head across the landscape to explore further. This is just one of the exciting quirks that the landscape has to offer. A hop over the tracks leads you to the local pub within a few steps along with a fresh seafood shop also selling other groceries opposite. You have everything to hand to be able to relax and enjoy your stay. Should you wish to explore further afield then towns such as Rye, Camber, New Romney, and Ashford are all a short drive away and offer a variety of other attractions. Camber and its sand dunes stretching for miles offer an alternative to the shingle and the historic town of Rye with its cobbled streets and historic buildings makes for a great day out. Hythe to the east and Hastings to the west are both worth a visit.
