There are miles of beach to explore with lots of dog friendly sections for your furry friends. The bright lights of Blackpool are just 4 miles away and can be reached on foot following the promenade along the seafront. Here you’ll find its many attractions including, Blackpool Tower, Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Zoo. Just a few miles further will take you to the rolling sand dunes of Lytham St Anne’s and the cosmopolitan Lytham which holds annual events such as The Proms and a kite festival. Venture inland and you’ll find the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, known for its picturesque country villages, wonderful walking and friendly local pubs. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is also within easy reach as is the Lake District National Park.

Knott End is a seaside village overlooking Morecambe Bay boasting a selection of shops, drinking establishments and cafés, including a very popular ice cream parlour. There is also a golf club and plenty of coastal walks for those wanting to get out and about. Other places that are worth a visit along the Fylde coast include Thornton Cleveleys with its old fashioned charm and promenade, 9 miles; Fleetwood with its Freeport Outlet Shopping Village, marina and beach, 12 miles away; and of course Blackpool, whose many attractions include The Tower, Blackpool Zoo, Pleasure Beach, Sea Life Centre and Madame Tussauds. Apart from being accessible for the coast, Oakland is also ideal for exploring rural Lancashire. The Ribble Valley, with its pretty villages is within an hour’s drive, and is an excellent choice for walks and country pubs. The Forest of Bowland, a a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, can also be reached within an hour’s drive. Seapoint House is a superb end-terraced town house, set out over three floors and boasting fantastic views over Cleveleys promenade. Cleveleys seafront is home to the Mythic Coast Artwork trail, where striking giant sculptures bring to life ’The Sea Swallow’ story. The vast beach is made up of sand and shingle, and you’ll find traditional past times of sandcastle building, and kite flying are as popular as ever. A few miles inland is the neighbouring village of Thornton, where you’ll find more shops, pubs and restaurants together with an 18th Century windmill and Wyre Estuary Country Park. The bright lights of Blackpool, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Tower are just 4 miles round the coast, and a few miles further you’ll reach the beautiful sandy beaches of St Annes and, wonderfully cosmopolitan, Lytham.
