    Located in the pretty village of Calder Vale on the edge of the Forest of Bowland and with the River Calder running right through it, this pretty cottage is set in a beautiful location. With the river right in front and a lovely lake and bluebell wood to the side, it is ideal for those looking to enjoy its surrounding nature and tranquil environment. Throughout May, the ladies in the village provide teas for thirsty travellers who come from far and wide to see the famous bluebells, and here you can also expect to observe plenty of wildlife including ducks and a variety of birds from robins to swifts as you meander along the path through the wood.
    Finished to a lovely, cosy standard, this original property is accessed via a private road and has off-road parking spaces for cars to the side of the property.
    Once inside, you immediately enter a welcoming and cosy living room, which transports you back in time, yet offers a contemporary modern feel. It lends an authentic cottage feel and experience to the cottage, from the warming wood burner to the original exposed stone work and feature airer hanging from the ceiling - ready to warm your clothes after a day out exploring the area. There is also a small dining table, which is a great place for a doing a jigsaw or playing cards in the evening, as well as a generous sofa which can be turned into a double bed for extra guests if required. There is a Freeview TV and DVD player, making this a great place to relax in and put your feet up after a full day out. The kitchen is well equipped and fitted with a modern touch, and has everything you need to cook the perfect meal together.
    The original staircase leads you to the upstairs to the spacious, yet cosy, bedroom fitted with lovely oak furniture, bringing a contemporary and modern feel to the pretty room, which offers a lovely view of the river. The bathroom is quite spacious with a modern white suite comprising bath, with shower overhead, toilet and wash basin.
    Outside, to the rear of the property, there are a few steps which lead onto a small patio area. There is a larger area to the front of the property also which is an ideal suntrap during the summer months. Garden furniture is provided so you can decide for yourself which is your preferred spot! The cottage also benefits from outside storage where you can house a bicycle or two.
    Nearby is the historic market town of Garstang, 4½ miles, known for its tasty home-grown produce and individual shops, as well for being the first fairtrade village in the world. Here you can buy some traditional Lancashire home made treats! There are plenty of shops and pubs nearby. You can explore the town and watch the passing canal boats cruise along the peaceful Lancaster Canal, or if you fancy just a short walk (2 miles), you can walk from the village across the fields to Cobble Hey Farm and Gardens where there is a lovely café, gardens and a real working farm to see.
    Why not visit the historic city of Lancaster, which has much to see and do? You can explore Lancaster Castle, one of the most captivating landmarks in the city along with its Georgian architecture. The seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool are equally reachable, whilst the Forest of Bowland and, further afield, the wonderful Lake District National Park are within an hour’s drive and are also well worth a visit!
    With so much to offer, Bluebell Cottage, with its calm and relaxing situation is the perfect base for a romantic and relaxing getaway!

    Apart from being accessible for the coast, Carr End Barn A is also well-placed for exploring rural Lancashire. Ribble Valley with its pretty villages is within an hour’s drive, and it’s an excellent choice for walks and country pubs. The Forest of Bowland, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, can also be reached within an hour’s drive. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are also very accessible by road and can be reached in an hour. The city of Lancaster is just 13 miles away and Preston is 19 miles. Beach 9¾ miles.
