This cottage provides a comfy and cosy base for guests to explore this fantastic largely rural area and all its attractions and history. This Grade II listed, 300 years old, stone-built, semi-detached cottage was built 300 years ago in 1705 as a bakery serving the then highway outside which was part of the Great North Road to Scotland. The cottage is a little quirky and rustic, with quite high ceilings due to its origin as a shop. The cottage is close to the A1 Trunk Road making it easily accessible to the north and south. For those who want to use public transport, there is a bus stop just 85 yards away with buses to Grantham with its station on the East Coast London to Scotland main rail line route.
This wonderful abode is located in the village of Colsterworth, close to Isaac Newton’s home, the historic National Trust Woolsthorpe Manor and Grantham, which has a busy Saturday farmers market. Nearby there are many places of interest including castles, country houses, gardens, Rutland Water, Burghley Horse Trials and many other attractions. On the edge of the village of Hogsthorpe, close to Chapel St Leonards and the beach, this detached bungalow enjoys open views from the conservatory across the fields where you can sit back and relax. There is plenty to see and do for all the family in the area, with the North Sea Observatory at Chapel St Leonards on the beach, which is well worth a visit. The traditional seaside resort of Skegness is just along the coast, as is Fantasy Island at Ingoldmells with its huge funfair and market. Gibraltar Point nature reserve is approximately a 30-minute drive away to the south of Skegness, and inland there are the market towns of Alford, Louth and Horncastle to explore. If you are bringing your dog on holiday there is an enclosed area to the rear, and the large kitchen/dining room provides a great space for all the family to be together at meal times. Recently redecorated throughout in 2021, this comfortable property features a sun room overlooking the garden, separate kitchen and dining room and a lovely living room to the front of the property. Within a 300 yard walk is the sandy beach of Mablethorpe where you can enjoy breakfast at the beachfront café, paddle in the sea and see who can build the biggest sandcastle. Mablethorpe is a traditional seaside resort with sandy beaches and something for all the family to enjoy. There is the Seal Sanctuary and Nature Centre and the Queen’s Park with its lakes and swings, or visit the beach and enjoy the amusements. Sutton-on-Sea is approximately 3 miles with more lovely beaches. Anderby Creek is just over 8 miles, Chapel Saint Leonards is 11 miles and the traditional seaside resort of Skegness is 18 miles.
Visit the Lincolnshire Wolds town of Horncastle, famous for its curio and antique shops, or the Georgian market town of Louth. Lincolnshire offers an abundance of great walks and cycles routes, and many can be enjoyed right from the doorstep. A wonderful stretch of unspoilt coastline can be found at the RSPB nature reserve at Gibraltar Point, 22 miles down the coast. Beach 1 mile.

Within 15 minutes’ drive you have the traditional seaside resorts of Skegness and Mablethorpe, Fantasy Island, Butlins, Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve as well as The Lincolnshire Wolds. A nearby footpath through the field takes you to the village pub where you can have food, and is a 10-minute walk away, before you return to soak in your own private hot tub and enjoy the open view across the fields.
For those wishing to enjoy a very popular gastro pub there is one at Skendleby approximately a 10-minute drive away. You can even bring your family dog, with two small dogs welcome, but please be aware there could be cattle or sheep in adjacent fields. There are very good walks from the door with the area also being very popular for cyclists. Beach 5 miles. Pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Owl Barn is situated in a peaceful, rural location between Boston and Skegness. The property is also close to RSPB Frampton marsh which is just 20 minutes drive away and is a very popular spot for birdwatchers and nature lovers to visit. For those visiting shows at Sheepgate Equestrian, Owl barn will make the perfect base as it only 2 miles away. Boston, famous for its Stump and for St Botolph’s Church which sits alongside its market place. There is also the Maud Foster Windmill which is always worth visiting, along with many good shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs for refreshment.
To the north is the traditional seaside resort of Skegness, great for a family day out with its fun fair, amusements, pier, aquarium, and long sandy beaches for strolling alongside the sea. After a day out you can return to your own cosy wood burner and a private hot tub where you can sit back and relax with open views across the fields.
