Manor Cottage is a lovely period house located on the stunning Egton Estate – with its 6000 acres of magnificent woodland, pastures and moorland plus the beautiful manor house – and combines elegance with a cosy atmosphere, perfect for a family holiday.

Dale View is a Victorian house, built in 1896 and its characterful period features include beamed ceilings and original fireplaces in both reception rooms. The house has a real welcoming home from home feel throughout and has been carefully furnished with your comfort in mind. The open fire in the living room and the gas stove in the dining room provide the perfect place to enjoy atmospheric, comfortable, and cosy evenings, after a busy day exploring the beautiful surroundings. The well-equipped dining kitchen has an authentic country feel, with bespoke kitchen units and hand painted tiles. There is everything you need to create favourite home cooked meals. The rear door leads out from the kitchen into a small, south facing, enclosed patio with table and chairs for alfresco dining.

Upstairs are two bedrooms; one bedroom with King-size bed beneath the beamed vaulted ceiling, and a spacious family bedroom with beamed ceiling, double bed, and a single bed. From both bedrooms Ravenscar cliffs can be seen and glimpses of the sea beyond. There is a bathroom with roll top bath, along with a shower room, perfect for a family or couple holidaying together.

The village of Fylingthorpe is in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and approximately half a mile from Robin Hood’s Bay. There is a local village pub, five minutes’ walk from Dale View serving meals, local beers, and real ales, with large beer garden and play area for children. Opposite the pub is a small village shop for essentials. Days out can include many walking and cycle trails; a particular favourite is along the coastal cinder track to Boggle Hole or Ravenscar. Robin Hood’s Bay is a must and is within walking distance of Dale View, taking less than twenty minutes to walk into the heart of this fascinating village. Famous for its winding, cobbled streets, tiny fisherman’s cottages, old stories of smuggling and secret underground tunnels, and along the Yorkshire Jurassic coast, spectacular scars, rockpools and fossils. Further along the coast is Whitby, known for its magnificent gothic abbey and Dracula. Further north is Sandsend, Staithes, and Runswick Bay. To the south you will find Scarborough, Flamborough Head, and the Dalby Forest. This is a wonderful destination which draws visitors from around the UK to enjoy the incredible scenery and to discover the fascinating history which makes this area so unique.

Glass doors lead you out into the enclosed private garden, with a table and chairs as well as a barbecue, so that you can make the most of the sunshine. The garden leads down to the neighbouring woodland, attracting wildlife literally onto your doorstep. Back inside, you have a dining room adjoining the kitchen, as well as a ground floor wet room. Up on the first floor you have three bedrooms, the master double bedroom has an en suite shower. There is also a twin bedroom as well as a single, and a family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

Secluded and tranquil, guests are free to explore the woodland walk and the area is home to a variety of wildlife - including wild deer, owls and hares just to name a few. The property is set on a small traditional organic farm which grows vegetables and organic soft fruit. Guests are welcome to purchase the organic products grown here directly from the friendly owners. The property is environmentally friendly, heated by a unique wood-burning/solar heating system, and many of the practices throughout the farm and property use natural resources for their day-to-day running. An indoor heated swimming pool and hard tennis court shared between other properties, a small gym, as well as a children’s play area complete the facilities on offer.

The beautiful North York Moors are a delight to explore either on foot or by car, or alternatively, the steam railway runs along stunning scenery through many unspoilt villages including Goathland (Aidensfield in the television series ’Heartbeat’). The coast is easily accessible, 45 minutes away, and the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough and Whitby are delights not to be missed. The quaint cobbled streets of Robin Hood’s Bay, once a favourite haunt with smugglers, will keep children and adults entertained for hours with its shoreline full of strange and colourful pebbles. Castle Howard is within easy driving distance, and Flamingo Land (a popular theme park and zoo) is well worth the visit. The market town of Helmsley is just 6 miles away and has shops and inns as well as pretty walled gardens.

Many National Trust and English Heritage properties can be found within a 15-mile radius, including Nunnington Hall, Byland Abbey and Duncomb Park, to name but a few. The ancient city of York is but a 45-minute drive. Excellent walking can be found from the doorstep. The cottage combine country living, yet is close enough to the coast to keep any visitor happy, whatever type of holiday they may be looking for. Set in the hamlet of Starbotton in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this Grade II listed, end of terrace cottage dates back to 1663. As such, it has been sympathetically refurbished and makes a quiet retreat from busy everyday life. It enjoys a south-facing spacious garden with the added benefit of soft fruit beds from which guests are welcome to help themselves in season. To make your stay as comfortable as possible dressing gowns and hairdryers are provided, and for entertainment there are a number of board games and garden games to try out. The nearby town of Grassington is 9 miles and in summer plays host to an incredible arts festival where you will find famous singers, presenters, poets and musicians. In winter there is a Dickensian festival, a magical event where the town is transported back in time with shopkeepers, villagers and visitors dressing in Victorian costume. A little further afield lies the bustling market town of Skipton with its Norman castle standing proudly at the head of it wide, sweeping, cobbled high street. Alternatively kick back in the local pub, 200 yards, which serves food and local ales. The nearby village of Kettlewell, approximately 2 miles away boasts three pubs, tea rooms, a village shop and various events during year including The Scarecrow Festival.
