The many local events include Staithes’ art festival, Saltburn’s food festival, and Whitby’s regatta as well as the famous Goth Weekend. The big event on Skinningrove’s calendar is Bonfire Night in November, when residents build a huge wooden sculpture on the seafront, with a different theme each year, which is set alight after a spectacular firework show.
