Sea Haven is a large spacious bungalow situated at Hunmanby Gap just over 3 miles from the popular seaside resort of Filey. The owner has taken great care in providing a fantastic holiday home for families to enjoy. The large open plan living and kitchen area has floor to ceiling patio doors taking advantage of the magnificent sea views and leading out onto a decked seating area and lawn. There’s a cosy dual sided wood burner separating the kitchen and the living/dining area. The kitchen has all the mod-cons expected of a house of this standard as well as a utility area. There are gardens to the front and the rear which are completely enclosed. For guests taking their four-legged friends, a dog crate is also provided.
A 2-minute walk and you are on a stunning vast beach that stretches for over 3 miles to Filey and beyond. It’s a beach that never looks busy as it’s so wide and has lots of space for everybody. Great for the children or walking the dogs, or watching the horse riders galloping through the waves in the early morning. There is an excellent café that serves the beach guests and provides meals and drinks as well as ice creams. Filey is a very traditional seaside resort, not quite as busy as its neighbour Scarborough however it has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Filey is also the end of the Cleveland Way walk so you can enjoy a walk along the cliff tops to Scarborough following part of this very famous 109 mile trail. The seaside resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington are just a short drive away. Both resorts are very popular holiday destinations and worth a visit during your stay.
The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is just a short drive where you can see the puffins and other migrating birds from the viewing points on the cliff tops. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and the wonderful Castle Howard are just a short drive. Sea Haven is not far from the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds made famous by the artist David Hockney, who often paints the rolling hills of the Wolds. Beach 70 yards. Here you will also find the piano used by previous owners to rehearse with the local choir. The pièce de résistance is the original well, which has been uncovered and fitted with lights so you can see 100 feet down to the bottom at night, a truly unique feature. The pretty village of Starbotton is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with a cluster of stone built, chocolate box cottages surrounding the friendly local pub, a mere 2 minutes’ walk away. The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Forest of Bowland and Harrogate are all within an hour’s drive. Set in a small hamlet, these carefully converted holiday cottages form a courtyard development where every care has been taken with the design, internal furnishings and their impact on the environment. This well-equipped 18th-century stone built holiday cottage is set in an elevated position in the pretty hamlet of Sedbusk. Located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park just 1-mile from the popular market town of Hawes. It has breathtaking views and the outstanding countryside is ideal for walking or for touring the whole of the Dales, and Windermere in the Lakes is less than an hour away. It retains original features with exposed stonework, pine floors, open fireplace but with modern comforts. Shops 1 mile, pub/restaurant ½ mile at Simonstone. Various pubs 1-mile away at Hawes and Hardraw.

Situated at Staithes, near Whitby, these former World War I army bunkers are in an idyllic position close to the countryside and sea. Four of the barracks have been ingeniously and tastefully transformed to provide good quality accommodation retaining much rustic character and charm. The remaining four lodges retain their near original condition as a visual reminder of their former function. Situated just off the Cleveland Way, there are many fine moorland and cliff top walks. There is a golf course and driving range in Brotton, 6¾ miles away, and at Scaling Reservoir, 7¼ miles, there is sailing and fishing. There is a leisure centre 2 miles down the road and a 2-minute stroll down the cobbled street brings you to the centre of the picturesque fishing village with its small harbour nestling beneath rugged cliffs. Step back in time and walk the quaint narrow passages, as Captain James Cook himself must have done. Here in Staithes there are village shops, pubs, cafés and a restaurant, and in 2020 the village was featured on the BBC programme ’Gone Christmas Fishing’ with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. Why not travel on Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express (the North Yorkshire Moors Railway) through ’Heartbeat’ country, or visit Whitby and its famous abbey which is 11 miles away.

Eldin Hall Cottages are set in a peaceful area and have been added more recently to the restored old Victorian waterworks. The four cottages have their own enclosed decked patios with garden furniture, and The Gatehouse has its own enclosed private lawned garden. There is also a shared garden with a fantastic play area for the children. The owners, who just 10 minutes away, will be there to greet guests whenever possible, and are available any time to provide information and assistance when it is required.
Situated between Cayton and Cayton Bay, the cottages are an ideal base to visit the east coast, North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds. The beach at Cayton Bay is less than a mile away (2 miles by road) and just a little further up the coast is the popular seaside town of Scarborough. The resorts of Filey, Flamborough Head and Bridlington are just a short drive away. The walks along the clifftops are spectacular and form part of the Cleveland Way walk. Situated just a mile outside the famous and charming village of Goathland, Tilly’s Cottage has the best of both worlds; easy access to all the area has to offer and peace and quiet however busy it is in the village. The owner has also provided use of two Pendleton electric bikes for guests use - a fun and easier way to explore Goathland, Darnholme, Beck Hole, the ’Roman Road’ and perhaps even Egton.
Tilly’s Cottage is part of Thornhill Farm, a working moorland sheep farm, which is known to go back to at least the early 17th century when it was sold by James I. Tilly’s Cottage itself was part of the Victorian development in the 1860s and retains many of its original features like the low beams, open range fire and ’coffin drop’. This traditionally decorated, peaceful, homely and deceptively large cottage is surrounded by fields and open moorland and is both a wonderful place to relax and a great base for further explorations. One of the first floor bedrooms and the second floor bedroom each have wonderful moorland views.
Known to millions as ’Aidensfield’ from the Yorkshire television series ’Heartbeat’, there is much to recognise in Goathland, and Tilly’s Cottage itself was used many times in the filming. Beyond Goathland lies Whitby with its beautiful harbour, abbey ruins, cliff-top golf, fish and chips and story of Dracula. Both Whitby and the charming town of Pickering can be reached by the steam train from Goathland, which runs alongside one of Thornhill’s fields, enabling guest to take unique close-up pictures of the trains steaming along.
