    The village of Fylingthorpe is in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and approximately half a mile from Robin Hood’s Bay. There is a local village pub, five minutes’ walk from Dale View serving meals, local beers, and real ales, with large beer garden and play area for children. Opposite the pub is a small village shop for essentials. Days out can include many walking and cycle trails; a particular favourite is along the coastal cinder track to Boggle Hole or Ravenscar. Robin Hood’s Bay is a must and is within walking distance of Dale View, taking less than twenty minutes to walk into the heart of this fascinating village. Famous for its winding, cobbled streets, tiny fisherman’s cottages, old stories of smuggling and secret underground tunnels, and along the Yorkshire Jurassic coast, spectacular scars, rockpools and fossils. Further along the coast is Whitby, known for its magnificent gothic abbey and Dracula. Further north is Sandsend, Staithes, and Runswick Bay. To the south you will find Scarborough, Flamborough Head, and the Dalby Forest. This is a wonderful destination which draws visitors from around the UK to enjoy the incredible scenery and to discover the fascinating history which makes this area so unique.

Goathland, Grosmont, Glaisdale, Egton Bridge and the lovely market town of Guisborough are all within easy reach, as is the heritage steam railway, now world-famous following the Harry Potter movies. For keen walkers there are many scenic walking trails to choose from, with the Cleveland Way giving you arguably the most breath-taking views in Yorkshire as you follow the cliff top footpath. Less than 10 minutes away you have Scaling Dam, where you will find watersports to enjoy including sailing and paddleboarding.
    There is an 18th-century coaching inn where you can enjoy meals and views over the reservoir, with a play area as well as an adventure golf course for younger family members. The nearest pub in Easington is 1¾ miles away; it serves great food, is dog friendly, has large TVs for sports events and has an outdoor play area for children.     Children will enjoy damming the little beck where it crosses the beach to form a freshwater lagoon which is great for paddling and boating. A lovely, scenic 6-mile walk along the Cleveland Way will bring you into the historic port of Whitby where you will find an abundance of activities for adults and children to enjoy. There is a large selection of pubs, quaint antique and gift shops, the famous fish and chip shops and 3 miles of golden sandy beach and amusements. You can take a trip on one of the fishing boats that will take you out and around the harbour where you can appreciate the views of St Mary’s Church and the stunning abbey that towers on the east side of the town.
    Whitby has many events going on all year round which are extremely popular including folk wek, music weekends including sixties and soul weekends and also Goth Weekends mainly because of Whitby’s connection with Dracula.     Tigh Na Mara or ’House by the Sea’ is one of four holiday cottages in Hunmanby Gap owned by a local Yorkshire family. Sat in a picturesque cove in the centre of Filey Bay and overlooking miles of golden sands, this cottage provides wonderful sea views and is just perfect for those looking for a romantic seaside break, family beach holiday or a relaxing bird watching getaway.     Step inside and be greeted by a beautiful beach scene, behind which is the large living/dining room which offers stunning sea views. The settees are well placed to enjoy some warmth from the electric fire during the cooler months, but also provide the perfect spot to sit with a coffee or glass of wine and just enjoy the beautiful view.
