Dale View is a Victorian house, built in 1896 and its characterful period features include beamed ceilings and original fireplaces in both reception rooms. The house has a real welcoming home from home feel throughout and has been carefully furnished with your comfort in mind. The open fire in the living room and the gas stove in the dining room provide the perfect place to enjoy atmospheric, comfortable, and cosy evenings, after a busy day exploring the beautiful surroundings. The well-equipped dining kitchen has an authentic country feel, with bespoke kitchen units and hand painted tiles. There is everything you need to create favourite home cooked meals. The village of Fylingthorpe is in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and approximately half a mile from Robin Hood’s Bay. There is a local village pub, five minutes’ walk from Dale View serving meals, local beers, and real ales, with large beer garden and play area for children. Opposite the pub is a small village shop for essentials. Days out can include many walking and cycle trails; a particular favourite is along the coastal cinder track to Boggle Hole or Ravenscar. Robin Hood’s Bay is a must and is within walking distance of Dale View, taking less than twenty minutes to walk into the heart of this fascinating village. Famous for its winding, cobbled streets, tiny fisherman’s cottages, old stories of smuggling and secret underground tunnels, and along the Yorkshire Jurassic coast, spectacular scars, rockpools and fossils. Further along the coast is Whitby, known for its magnificent gothic abbey and Dracula. Further north is Sandsend, Staithes, and Runswick Bay. To the south you will find Scarborough, Flamborough Head, and the Dalby Forest. This is a wonderful destination which draws visitors from around the UK to enjoy the incredible scenery and to discover the fascinating history which makes this area so unique.

The cottage looks down on the fabulous historic fishing village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and coble boats and you are similarly perfectly placed to explore Whitby, Runswick Bay, Robin Hood’s Bay and the delightful surfers paradise of Saltburn. Staithes View is in a delightfully secluded spot, with the delights of the North York Moors surrounding you. Goathland, Grosmont, Glaisdale, Egton Bridge and the lovely market town of Guisborough are all within easy reach, as is the heritage steam railway, now world-famous following the Harry Potter movies. For keen walkers there are many scenic walking trails to choose from, with the Cleveland Way giving you arguably the most breath-taking views in Yorkshire as you follow the cliff top footpath. Less than 10 minutes away you have Scaling Dam, where you will find watersports to enjoy including sailing and paddleboarding.
There is an 18th-century coaching inn where you can enjoy meals and views over the reservoir, with a play area as well as an adventure golf course for younger family members. The nearest pub in Easington is 1¾ miles away; it serves great food, is dog friendly, has large TVs for sports events and has an outdoor play area for children. Staithes is a 10-minute drive away, and you also have the glorious golden sandy beach at Skinningrove less than 5 miles away. There is so much to see and do nearby, making this a great destination throughout all the seasons.

A second set of stairs from the kitchen takes you up to another twin bedroom. This is a great cottage for families or friends looking to escape to the country, with the beach only a 20-minute walk away. The area is a haven for keen walkers, cyclists and dog owners with numerous pathways and cycle tracks located right on your doorstep, including the famous 110- mile Cleveland Way that can be accessed literally yards away. It is conveniently positioned for visiting the delightful coastal resorts of Runswick Bay, just one mile away, and Sandsend and Whitby, where you can enjoy beautiful stretches of golden beaches. The quaint village of Sandsend is only four miles away and is an ideal place for all the family with its award-winning, wide sweeping beaches, rock pools and dramatic cliffs. This part of the coastline is known locally as the Dinosaur Coast because of the many fossils found here.
Children will enjoy damming the little beck where it crosses the beach to form a freshwater lagoon which is great for paddling and boating. A lovely, scenic 6-mile walk along the Cleveland Way will bring you into the historic port of Whitby where you will find an abundance of activities for adults and children to enjoy. There is a large selection of pubs, quaint antique and gift shops, the famous fish and chip shops and 3 miles of golden sandy beach and amusements. You can take a trip on one of the fishing boats that will take you out and around the harbour where you can appreciate the views of St Mary’s Church and the stunning abbey that towers on the east side of the town.
Whitby has many events going on all year round which are extremely popular including folk wek, music weekends including sixties and soul weekends and also Goth Weekends mainly because of Whitby’s connection with Dracula. Due to the property being in such a rural location phone signal and the wifi can be sometimes intermittent, adding to the tranquillity of your stay.

A short walk down the hill is where you will find a quaint dog-friendly café and the beach is just beyond. A short drive away is the pretty seaside town of Filey and the harbour port of Scarborough. Both towns offer lovely walks along promenades and a plethora of seaside attractions, tea rooms, restaurants and shops. A visit to RSPB Bempton Cliffs is a must whilst staying at Tigh Na Mara, or why not travel a little further inland and enjoy the rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds. Whitby, the very popular historic seaside town lies 1.5 miles away, a 20-minute walk into the centre. Close by there are two play areas for children as well as communal landscaped grounds leading to the riverside, a haven for wildlife, swans, and ducks. For those walkers and cyclists amongst you, this property is located right by the famous Cinder Track; the old railway line that runs over 20 miles between Scarborough and Whitby.

Whilst in Whitby follow in the steps of Bram Stoker, the author of the infamous Dracula, by climbing the famous 199 steps to see the spectacular Whitby Abbey. The beach to the west of the town leads for 2 miles to the lovely resort of Sandsend. Runswick Bay and Staithes are further north, and to the south there is Robin Hood’s Bay and the large seaside resort of Scarborough with its long promenade running through both bays.
The North York Moors steam railway runs from Whitby down to Pickering, stopping at Goathland (Heartbeat Country). For children and families nearby there is Flamingo land, Alpamare Waterpark and Go Ape ziplining at Dalby Forest all within an hour drive. Beach 2 miles.
