Inland, the moors are scattered with villages, many with excellent inns. Goathland itself offers an excellent choice of inns and restaurants, in addition to local shops, post office and cafés. With the North York Moors National Park right on your doorstep there are many walks and cycle routes to explore, or just enjoy a drive through some of the most stunning scenery. There is so much to see nearby but you may fancy a trip further afield to the vibrant walled city of York, an hour away, with its ancient minster and historic buildings. Spend a day at the horse racing links and watch world class racehorses gallop down the track.

Visitors of all ages will love The Forbidden Corner which is just a few miles away, a folly-turned family attraction that has surprises waiting around every corner. The beautiful village of Brompton lies 8 miles to the west of Scarborough, a tranquil picturesque village home to the church where the poet William Wordsworth married.
