There are some wonderful rural pubs serving hearty home cooked meals in the surrounding villages, the perfect reward after a hike or cycle. If you wish to enjoy the great outdoors you are in the perfect location. The coastline from Saltburn-by-the-Sea to Filey, is a place of rugged beauty, with many isolated fishing villages such as Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay all just a short drive away. Out on the moors are the picture perfect villages of Hutton Le Hole, Pickering or Helmsley, with its castle and gardens all waiting to be explored. The property is situated just 12 miles from the town of Whitby, with its year round events and festivals such as the Goth Weekend and the Steampunk Weekend. Famous for its link to Dracula, the abbey and its award winning fish and chips, Whitby has something for everyone. For something different you can take a steam train journey into ‘Heartbeat’ country Goathland, or head out to sea from Whitby on a boat trip, where you could see seals and whales. The cottage has been sympathetically restored by local craftsmen, retaining many of its original features and additions throughout the centuries.     Beautifully furnished throughout, this exquisite hideaway is located out in North Yorkshire Moors National Park, you are surrounded by the vast expanse of rolling moorland, farmland and valleys of ancient woodland, laced with walking trails. The Nook dates back to 1767, and was once a modest barn which was falling into disrepair over the centuries. It has now been lovingly transformed into a unique holiday destination, with the added surprise in one of the neighbouring barns, an on-site bar! After a busy day of exploring pop along to the specially built mini pub, with an arcade machine, darts and other pub games, as well as a wood burner making it atmospheric and cosy, with the main focal point being a big statement solid stone bar. This bespoke little pub is shared with the other properties on-site, so you can mingle in an evening and share your recommendations for your favourite nearby places to visit. Bring your own drinks and have a night to remember. There is also a barbecue in the field, where you can enjoy meals al fresco before watching the night sky light up with stars as you warm yourself around the open flames of the firepit.
    When returning to your cottage you are welcomed by a fabulous living room, with a sofa beside the wood burner and a dining table for two. There is an adjoining kitchen, which is modern yet has a country twist, with a Belfast sink and sweeping granite worktops. There is a step up to the modern walk-in shower as well as the bedroom which has a double bed and a hanging rail for your belongings. The Nook is in a peaceful rural location, around 2 miles from the village centre. In the village of Glaisdale you have the village inn as well as a local butchers, with the River Esk meandering through the village. It is in an idyllic location with numerous public footpaths, including the Coast to Coast walking trail which connects the west to the east coast.
