South Cottage is one of three beautiful Grade II listed character cottages transformed from redundant barn buildings into delightful holiday accommodation. Accessed via a rough track and commanding spectacular panoramic views over Swaledale, South Cottage is detached and ideally placed for those wishing to escape from hustle and bustle into this beautiful area of Yorkshire.
Upon entering the cottage, guests are welcomed by the cosy and inviting atmosphere. The focal point of the living area is a traditional inglenook fireplace with a wood burner, perfect for curling up in front of on chilly evenings. The comfortable seating area is perfect for relaxing, reading or playing board games, and there’s a Smart TV for those who want to catch up on their favourite shows. As the floors are all traditional stone, to make your stay even cosier, don’t forget your slippers! The traditional oak kitchen with a breakfast area is well-equipped for self-catering, and there is a separate dining room with large table for enjoying meals with family and friends. Downstairs, there is a spacious bathroom with P-shaped bath with shower, and upstairs, there are three generously sized bedrooms, each with spectacular views over Swaledale. The bedrooms have comfortable beds and plenty of storage space, and there is a family bathroom with a large shower. Outside is an enclosed patio garden that offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. There is a picnic table for enjoying al fresco dining, and guests can soak up the tranquil atmosphere and enjoy the fresh air. Wi-Fi signal is intermittent due to the rural location.
Swaledale is a haven for those who love the outdoors with footpath walks and hikes accessible from the doorstep. The area is popular with artists, photographers and writers drawing inspiration from the dramatic scenery. South Cottage is around three miles from the popular town of Reeth, with a good range of amenities including pubs and restaurants serving local produce, tea rooms and bakeries, and for those wishing to explore further afield, the market towns of Richmond, Hawes and Leyburn are all just a short drive away.

In peaceful rural surroundings, Low Hall Barn faces an enclosed paddock where you can sit out in the sunshine. The private paddock is fully enclosed with garden furniture provided. It is accessed across a quiet track which is shared by 3 neighbouring properties. There is a small patio/garden area with direct access from the property.
The exterior has changed very little over the years and appears to be a modest barn, yet when you step inside the interior is inspiring, innovative and sure to delight. This renovation has been a unique project taking many years to complete, with carefully sourced antiques as well as modern furnishings collaborating to create something really special. Each room becomes a talking point with upcycled vintage pieces having a whole new lease of life. The entrance hallway has beautiful handcrafted stairs, with wooden panelling made from the barn’s original reclaimed floorboards. Step through into the bespoke kitchen; this spacious room has its own island and is exceptionally well equipped. The adjoining living room is open plan with the dining area, with a wood burner to add to the charm. Glass doors open out from the living area giving you fabulous views out onto your paddock of wild flowers. The ground floor is complete with a toilet just off the entrance hallway, which has also been decorated beautifully. Upstairs are three incredible bedrooms, all with their own character and stylish flare. The first zip and link kingsize bedroom is a fun burst of colour, with its own en-suite shower room, whereas the master bedroom, with superking bed, is more muted with its own en suite bathroom which is the most delicious emerald green and gold. The third bedroom also has a kingsize zip and link bed, which can be made up as twin beds on request, under a beamed ceiling. There is also a family bathroom on this floor with both a freestanding bath as well as a shower. Take time to take in all of the careful attention to detail, such as the original wooden shutters on the windows.
West Ayton is a pretty village in the North York Moors National Park, with a couple of pubs serving meals as well as the convenience of a shop and garage. There are many beautiful places to visit for a day out nearby including the picture perfect village of Thornton-le-Dale, with little cafés, a chocolatier and a bakery beside a little stream, as well as the ancient market town of Pickering where you can board the North York Moors steam train. There is a host of wonderful walking trails to discover, including many at Dalby Forest which is beautiful throughout all the seasons and has a tree top zip wire trail for the more adventurous.
In around a 15-minute drive you can be at the coast, walking along the long golden stretch of sand in Scarborough, with the historic seafaring town of Whitby nearby. Whitby boasts a fascinating history, with tales of Captain Cook, smugglers, Vikings and even Dracula, ideal for a day out to remember. You also have Robin Hood’s Bay, Filey and Bempton Cliffs with glorious coastal scenery to soak up. With golf, fishing and horse riding locally there is something in the area for everyone. Beach 6 miles.

Within the North York Moors National Park, in a sheltered wooded valley close to the magnificent ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, these spacious, comfortable and well equipped holiday cottages stand in a landscaped courtyard, close to the owners’ farmhouse. The Ryedale Folk Museum at popular Hutton-Le-Hole, and the ruins of Rosedale Abbey are both worth a visit. For a day out, the North York Moors Railway runs steam train journeys between Grosmont and Pickering. Whitby, is easily reached, with miles of sandy beaches and an ancient abbey overlooking its harbour. Scarborough, and the coastal villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Sandsend are all within 20 miles. Horse racing at Thirsk, Wetherby and York, 25 miles. Kingfisher View is in the perfect position to enjoy the best of both the coast and country. You are engulfed by the magnificent national park, with rolling moorland and ancient forests to explore. With the glorious Yorkshire coastline within easy reach, starting with the jewel in the crown - Whitby. Here on the riverbank you have beautiful views across the water. As you are surrounded by nature; watch out for leaping salmon, stealthy heron and even the occasional seal which makes its way up from the harbour. The ducks are incredibly friendly and often waddle up to the door hoping to be fed, which is a sight to behold.
A magnificent viaduct towers above the houses here on the riverbank. The path over the viaduct is now part of a popular walking and cycling trail connecting you to Whitby and the neighbouring coastal destinations of Robin Hoods Bay, Ravenscar and Scarborough – a beautiful route to explore. Whitby is a town steeped in history, learn more about Captain Cook at one of the many museums including one on a replica ship in the harbour, or take the famous 199 steps to St Mary’s Church and iconic abbey for a taste of Whitby’s heritage.
19 miles to the south, Scarborough remains a quintessential and much loved seaside resort, with its two sandy beaches, castle, lovely Peasholm Park, Sea Life Sanctuary, Open Air Theatre and Alpamare Water Park and Wellness Spa - all well worth a visit. There are many pretty fishing villages along the coast where fishermen can be seen working such as Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hood’s Bay, along Yorkshire’s wonderful heritage coast.
Children will love visiting the arcades, as well as spending days at the beach fossil hunting and exploring the rock pools. In the neighbouring village of Ruswarp there is a great indoor play area for little ones, with a café, opposite the rowing boat hire and miniature railway. Plus, a little further away you have Flamingo Land theme park and zoo which is ideal for a big day out they will love.

Fold open the Velux window and step outside onto a small hidden balcony; the sea view from up here is simply stunning. A perfect spot for an early morning coffee! To the front of the property is a pretty cottage garden with borders packed with summer flowers. To the rear is an enclosed, dog-friendly garden with neatly trimmed lawn and seating, perfect for an al fresco breakfast.

A short walk down the hill is where you will find a quaint dog-friendly café and the beach is just beyond. A short drive away is the pretty seaside town of Filey and the harbour port of Scarborough. Both towns offer lovely walks along promenades and a plethora of seaside attractions, tea rooms, restaurants and shops. A visit to RSPB Bempton Cliffs is a must whilst staying at Tigh Na Mara, or why not travel a little further inland and enjoy the rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds. Whitby, the very popular historic seaside town lies 1.5 miles away, a 20-minute walk into the centre. Close by there are two play areas for children as well as communal landscaped grounds leading to the riverside, a haven for wildlife, swans, and ducks. For those walkers and cyclists amongst you, this property is located right by the famous Cinder Track; the old railway line that runs over 20 miles between Scarborough and Whitby.
Ammonite Cottage is an ideal size for family, as well as for couples travelling together. Set over two floors, this is a well-presented property where you’re sure to have a truly memorable stay. On the ground floor you have a spacious open plan living area, with French double doors both at the front and the rear of the property. The rear ones lead to a small and sunny decked area with a picnic table, a beautiful spot with views over open countryside.
Stepping through the archway from the lounge is the well-equipped kitchen and dining area which has a large dining table perfect for up to six guests to eat and socialise. Up on the first floor is the master double bedroom with a balcony where you can enjoy views of the viaduct, where the Cinder Track passes on its way to Whitby. In Whitby there is a long golden beach, ideal for traditional family days out by the sea, complete with arcades, sandcastles, beach huts and good old-fashioned fish and chips. Whilst in Whitby follow in the steps of Bram Stoker, the author of the infamous Dracula, by climbing the famous 199 steps to see the spectacular Whitby Abbey. The beach to the west of the town leads for 2 miles to the lovely resort of Sandsend. Runswick Bay and Staithes are further north, and to the south there is Robin Hood’s Bay and the large seaside resort of Scarborough with its long promenade running through both bays.
The North York Moors steam railway runs from Whitby down to Pickering, stopping at Goathland (Heartbeat Country). For children and families nearby there is Flamingo land, Alpamare Waterpark and Go Ape ziplining at Dalby Forest all within an hour drive. Beach 2 miles.
