There are some fabulous walks to be enjoyed straight from the front door. If, however, you plan to do some more adventurous hiking, then Ingleton is just 3 miles away and the three peaks of Whernside, Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough, and the lakeland hills are all easily accessed.
There is so much to do in this area from cycling, caving, hiking and golfing! Just 10 miles away in the neighbouring town of Kirkby Lonsdale. This quirky market town is surrounded by historic buildings, many of them hundreds of years old, that line the town’s streets and squares include a range of cafés, pubs, and independent shops, which combine to provide a traditional shopping experience that’s hard to find on the modern British high street.

Located just 1 mile from Clapham, Newby Cotes is a charming village with a rich history as a Kendal-to-Skipton thoroughfare. The Old Sawmill Café, housed in a former sawmill, offers a unique historical setting. Nearby, the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail leads to the renowned Ingleborough Cave. Cyclists frequent the Croft Café, and local shops showcase crafts and knitting. The trail also unveils Trow Gill, Gaping Gill, limestone pavements, and Ingleborough’s summit. Ingleton Waterfall trail at Ingleton is also within driving distance and Kirkby Lonsdale, a quirky market town, is just over the Cumbria border.
