    Tucked away from the world in a tranquil setting with the most amazing views over the river and dale. This Grade II listed cottage oozes character and charm. Upside down in nature, taking in the fabulous views from the first floor living area window. The cottage is perfectly equipped, with quality furnishings and fittings offering home from home comfort. You’ll be tempted to sit at the window seat with a book to relax and unwind! The upper floor is open plan, light and airy and the living area has a gorgeous wood burner to keep you warm on chilly nights, a large TV with Freesat to give variety of entertainment and a DVD player to catch up on some of the classics! A well equipped gloss kitchen makes an excellent place to rustle up breakfast or supper while friends and family gather round the table – this is a great social space. Downstairs are two comfortable bedrooms, both front facing and taking advantage of the views.
    Arkengarthdale is a great destination, being just 4 miles from Reeth and within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Approached along a short farm track and surrounded by the most fabulous scenery, this is a perfect accommodation for couples wanting to enjoy that special, romantic break, with the 18th century inn just a short stroll away serving good local ales, wines and excellent food. Alternatively, visit the highest pub in England - the Tan Hill Inn, just 8 miles further along the road.
    Swaledale is increasingly popular with cyclists following the Grand Depart of the Tour de France in 2014 and the annual Tour De Yorkshire. Just a few miles down the road is a bike centre providing cycle hire for those who need it. The Swale Trail runs from Reeth to Keld and is ideal for families. This area is a walker’s paradise as the varied landscape provides miles of walks, both low-level, gentle strolls along the river and more challenging high-level walks. With high mountains and valleys lined with streams, there are endless footpaths around the most spectacular scenery.
    Nearby Reeth, approximately 4 miles away has two village stores, craft shops, pubs and tea rooms. Historic Richmond with its Georgian theatre, Norman Castle and beautiful riverside walks is just a short drive away. Here you will find a bustling market town, with cobbled alleyways lined with galleries, eclectic shops and tea rooms. In the opposite direction is Barnard Castle, with its market, antique shops and famous Bowes Museum. Take a drive into Wensleydale and visit the market towns of Hawes and Leyburn, with a host of attractions located in the surrounding area. The Forbidden Corner in Middleham is only 16 miles away and a great day out for families. Picturesque Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are along the way, with many other pretty picture postcard villages to discover as you pass through. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

It has an open plan living area with a welcoming wood burner to snuggle up in front of after a busy day out exploring the spectacular Yorkshire coast and countryside, and upon arrival you will be welcomed with a lovely welcome pack with tea, coffee and biscuits. There are lovely views from the property onto the garden and the bedroom window overlooks the paddock, where sheep graze.

    The picturesque village of Thornton le Dale is located on the edge of the North York Moors, a mere one mile from Pickering. From here you can take a ride on the famous steam train to Grosmont, Goathland (aka Aidensfield in the classic TV series Heartbeat) and the seaside town of Whitby where you can climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. Those looking for a quieter pace of life may prefer to walk the many footpaths and bridleways over the North York Moors.
