    Railway Cottage is just a short stroll from the centre of Thirsk, giving you instant access to the pretty cobbled market square with a great choice of independent shops, pubs, and restaurants. Thirsk is the one-time home of the novel writing vet, James Herriot, and is an excellent base to explore the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors National Parks with both having fantastic bike trails and scenic walks. The Heritage Coast, Whitby, Scarborough and Robin Hood’s Bay can be reached un under 1.5 hours by car should you wish to have a day at the beach
    It offers so many possibilities with the city of York and Harrogate all within easy driving distance or by train with Thirsk Train Station a stone through from the cottage.
