Otterburn sits on the edge of the National Park in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is approximately 20 minutes from Kielder Water, and only a few miles from Hadrian’s Wall, as well as being very close to the local wedding venues Le Petit Chateau and Otterburn Hall. The village, once the site of the famous 1388 victory of the Scots over the English, nestles close to the banks of the River Rede between the hills and the moors overlooking the North Tyne Valley. With pretty walks and cycle routes from the door, as well as local fishing, horse riding, golf and a friendly village shop/tea room; this is a superb location for a relaxing holiday any time of the year. The village was once the home of a busy weaving industry and houses Otterburn Mill, marking the village’s historic past and a great tourist stop off for afternoon tea. Across from the small public footpath that runs along the front of the cottages, an ideal area for relaxing after a days exploring. The location has easy access to the Northumberland coast with miles of unspoilt and uncrowded golden beaches and an outstanding coastline peppered with castles and friendly locals. The famous Alnwick Castle was used in the filming of Harry Potter and is only 26 miles away. In Alnwick, you can lunch in the famous Treehouse Restaurant, visit the enchanting water gardens or simply stroll the cobbled streets and soak up the history. Shop 400 yards, pub 200 yards.

Amble is close to the start of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty stretching along the beautiful coastline to Berwick-upon-Tweed, with miles of golden beaches and castles. Be sure to visit Holy Island during your stay. Alnwick Castle is just a few minutes’ drive away where you can explore this historical building, famed for its use in some ‘Harry Potter’ scenes.
    Travelling inland is straightforward from Amble and you can have a great day out in the Northumberland National Park, visiting Kielder Forest Park with its huge forest and reservoir.
