The waterparks around Kielder Water offer a hop on/off ferry, Bird of Prey Centre, cafés, pub, picnic areas and water sports of all types. Day trips from Kielder Kip Cottage make a nice change, and Alnwick Castle, 50 miles, is famed for its scenes in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey.
The very historic Hadrian’s Wall is a step back to the Roman times and plenty of museums and history await. The small town of Bellingham is 18 miles away, and has several shops, pubs and cafés. Kielder Winter Wonderland is a popular event every December for all ages. Kielder, EnglandOld Kielder Castle Cottage lies in the prettiest part of the village of Kielder, directly opposite the castle, which can be admired from the large enclosed garden. Kielder is set in the Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park, the largest expanse of dark sky in Europe, perfect for astronomers. The surrounding parks all have something to offer visitors. There is a hop on/off ferry which takes you all around the water to admire the stunning scenery with a visitor centre, bird of prey centre and bar with picnic tables along the front.
