The town has a quirky tearoom set in old carriages with a small visitor centre telling the history of the invasions from the Scots around the area.
The Northumberland Heritage Coastal route is easily reachable for a lovely day trip out where you can visit Alnwick Castle which was used in some ‘Harry Potter’ scenes. Northumberland is one of the friendliest counties in England and truly deserves the award in 2018 for the Best County to Visit in the British Tourism Awards. Take a trip into Newcastle and see the iconic Tyne Bridge or drive over to Hadrian’s Wall and visit some of the Roman Museums.
