Upon arrival, you are greeted by the large patio and garden to the front and back of the property, perfect if you’re bringing children as they can run around all day. The garden is enclosed so a great spot for your dog to wander freely too. Throughout, you will find historical features that are quintessential to English sophistication that makes Home Farm House a memorable place to stay. The living areas include three reception rooms, one with a handy sofa bed, and two dining rooms, one situated in the conservatory, with six bedrooms on the first floor, this is the perfect house for celebrating with family and friends. Outside is a games room with table tennis facilities for the kids to enjoy.
Ideally located, Home Farm House is only 15 minutes’ from the popular market town of Shrewsbury offering a wealth of independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. Add the weekly farmers’ market, a wide range of independent specialist shops, lovely coffee shops, the many traditional pubs and inns which offer good food and beers, the interesting mix of buildings and you have the ideal place to discover on your holiday. Throughout the year there are numerous food festivals and regattas. It’s a great place to visit.
For the more adventurous travel seekers there are various walks and outdoor activities nearby including circular trails that are on your doorstep in the village of Dorrington, along with a village shop, a pub and a couple of restaurants. Visit Bridgnorth with its renowned funicular railway or take a trip on the Severn Valley Railway to experience the delights of the bygone era of steam travel. If you like walking, there are plenty of places to visit, including the Long Mynd, Clee Hills or Stiperstones. Telford is only 20 miles away and the Ironbridge Gorge with Blists Hill Museum and numerous activities for sunny or wet days. Ludlow with its castle and reputation for good eateries and art shops is 30 minutes’ away.
There are opportunities to ride, play golf, fish or even experience the thrill of hot air ballooning and gliding all within easy reach. In a semi-isolated position, in the rural hamlet of Upton Cressett, Orchard Cottage is surrounded by the most amazing scenery, with its own private hot tub and patio area in an enclosed garden and robes provided for your convenience. This amazing property is ideal for families and pet friendly holidays. Just 4 miles is the centre of Bridgnorth, with its castle ruins, fantastic river and countryside views, two railways, one steam and one funicular railway, and a good selection of shops bars and restaurants. Shropshire has many quaint towns and villages to visit including Much Wenlock, Ironbridge, Ludlow and Shrewsbury, all are accessible within a 30-minute drive. Activity centres are dotted around the county offering anything from clay shooting, high ropes and canoeing to mountain biking and Segway and quad trekking. Nearby is also the historical National Trust Attingham Park, Wenlock Edge and Cardingmill Valley, as well as Stokesay and Ludlow castles. The Secret Hills Discovery Centre and Acton Scott Working Farm are great for children, and the glider centre on the Long Mynd and horse racing at Ludlow are also available nearby. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles. Local pub in Morville, 1.5 mile walk (cross country and hilly terrain, so get your walking boots on!)

The Onny Trail is on the doorstep leading to walks on Wart Hill, Hopesay Hill on the Shropshire Way, and the Jack Mytton Way which goes up over the long Mynd. It has an enviable position close to the road networks, yet has fields and woodland to the rear. The field across the road belongs to the owners and has the River Onny running along the bottom where you can relax and try your hand at some wild fishing. The cottage has its own private patio area with sole use of a six-seater hot tub.
Shropshire is a great area to visit with plenty of activities and places to visit within a short distance. Some of the attractions include Acton Scott Working Farm, Secret Hills Discovery Centre, Stokesay Castle, and the vibrant market town of Ludlow with its castle, racecourse, weekly markets, and numerous food fairs held throughout the year. The Glider Centre on the Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley (National Trust) is a must for adrenaline lovers. The beautiful market town of Ludlow, well known for its food festival and Historic Shrewsbury is set on the banks of the River Severn and offers a great selection of shops, bars, and restaurants. While in nearby Condover there is an activity centre where family activities include low ropes, high ropes, kayaking, and laser tag. The Edge Adventure Activity Centre at Much Wenlock offers quad bike trekking, clay shooting, mountain boarding, and much more.
For a more relaxed approach to your holiday there are some lovely towns and areas to visit such as Bridgnorth with the Severn Valley Railway, inland funicular railway, and the historic Ironbridge gorge and museums. From the property within an hour’s drive, there are Powys Castle, Berrington Hall, and Attingham Park all National Trust properties and just a little further you will find Chirk Castle, Erddig, and Croft Castle. This holiday cottage, newly converted in 2019, is situated just outside of the village of Baschurch which is set near to Shrewsbury and Ellesmere. Baschurch offers pubs, takeaways, churches, a large convenience store and cash point. The local bus, which operates between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere, collects and drops off on Springfield Barns main drive allowing guests to leave the car behind.

Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and is a wonder of medieval black and white buildings. The town offers fantastic dining, individual shops, craft markets, museums, art galleries and the stunning Dingle within the Quarry Park.

Bridgnorth has what is reputed to be the steepest cliff railway in Britain and superb cliff-top walks overlooking the River Severn below. From here, during summer, the Severn Valley Railway’s steam train chugs the scenic 16-mile route to Kidderminster. Attingham Park (National Trust), Benthall Hall (National Trust), Ironbridge Gorge and the old market town of Much Wenlock, with its medieval priory, are all within easy driving distance. Set next to the owner’s own property, The Roost is set in a peaceful and quiet part of the Shropshire countryside.

Visit the city of Telford with it’s fabulous shopping centre, parks and world-famous Iron Bridge and Gorge museums.

Set in the pretty village of Llangunllo, The Old Smithy is an attractive 4 bed cottage with a homely wood burning stove. A hot tub also awaits you, with views of the rolling hills of Radnorshire. The location is perfect for walkers as you can find lovely walks right from the front door, including Glyndwr’s Way. The games room is accessed from the roadside. There is private parking for 2 cars across the road from the house. There is a welcoming, traditional local pub within the village that serves a good selection of beer and ale. Other pubs, serving food are found in the surrounding villages, no more than 15 minutes away. Local activities include the well recognised Griffin Lloyd clay shooting ground and Phil Price Rally School. Llangunllo is 6 miles from the market town of Knighton ,best known for Offa’s Dyke and 9miles from Presteigne. There are many attractions including The Judges Lodgings, Spaceguard Centre, Small Breeds Farm, Elan Valley Reservoir, Red Kite Feeding Station and Powis Castle. The market towns of Hereford and Ludlow and Hay on Wye are all in between 45/60 minutes away and all offer a variety of attractions.
