Hillcrest House is a detached, spacious holiday property and is beautifully renovated. Set in the peaceful village of Brown Edge, a stone’s throw away from a pub, this fabulous property boasts an open plan living area and kitchen with a host of appliances and a large central table to entertain at. The large living area has a beautiful feature wood burner and is the perfect place to get together, laugh and talk long into the night.

The property offers 5 individually designed well-appointed bedrooms all with their own en-suite facilities, so no need to fight for the bathroom! The top floor has been designed to accommodate 5 guests, so ideal if you have kids in your group, as it is the perfect place for them to escape to whilst you relax downstairs. A fully functional, ground floor bedroom with en-suite shower room and kitchen area, is ideal for less mobile guests, or grandparents wanting space and independence from the rest of the party.

Brown Edge has a post office, general store, and a couple of pubs. A wider range of amenities can be found 5 miles away in Hanley. Ideally located for exploring the Staffordshire moorlands, Cheshire, and the Peak District National Park, it is a great area for walking, and there are lots of attractions within easy driving distance. These include Biddulph Grange Gardens, 4 miles, the Potteries at Stoke-on-Trent, 8 miles, Trentham Gardens, 11 miles, Lyme Park House and Gardens, 16 miles, and Alton Towers Theme Park 17 miles. Finally for any big kids, Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers can be reached in under an hour. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant 1¼ miles.

Converted in 2022, these former stables hold a spectacular rural location surrounded by open countryside. Set in around 12 acres of woodland, this is real country living at its best, but with the convenience of local facilities nearby. Both properties have wood burners taking pride of place for cosy winter months, and for the long summer days the gardens are perfect for simply soaking up the peace and quiet. You’ll find a selection of food serving pubs and a local convenience store less than a mile away with the villages of Endon and Stockton Brook easily accessible. Further afield the market town of Leek can be reached in a 15-minute drive and offers a lot including a wealth of high street shops and eateries.

The Caldon canal runs close by so is perfect for waterside walks and cycles with maybe a spot of lunch at one of the canal-side pubs on the way. There’s also Rudyard Lake for some water-based activities surrounded by some of the most dramatic scenery to be found in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Thrill-seekers mustn’t miss Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers which is just a 30-minute drive away, and the location is also just a few miles southwest of the magnificent Peak District National Park. The position is excellent for exploring Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire and is also just 40 minutes from the fascinating market town of Ashbourne with its abundance of eateries and renowned antique shops.

Gretna is located on the outskirts of Longnor, a village nestled within the Peak District hills. Although the bungalow itself is quite rural, you are just a few minutes’ drive into the centre of the village where there is a pub and shop, around 5 miles is the nearest town of Buxton which has many independent shops, cafeé, and a variety of restaurants plus the opera house, which has shows on weekly, and the Pavillion Gardens which are lovely to walk around. There are other towns close to Gretna such as Leek, Ashbourne, Bakewell and the Chatsworth Estate. If you are an avid walker, you will be spoilt for choice, step outside the property and immediately be surrounded by the rolling hills offering endless countryside walks, if you prefer to follow a trail and cycle route you are just a small number of miles from the High Peak Trail which is relatively flat and has pub and ice cream stops on route.
As you arrive at Gretna you will find ample parking down the driveway for all guests’ cars. There is a private back garden with comfortable furniture to sit on whilst spending the morning planning your exciting day ahead. There is a large living room with enough seating for all guests on the L-shaped sofa, which conveniently faces the Smart TV and wood burner; the views from this room are stunning and far reaching, especially on a clear day. The views can also be seen from the kitchen, which has all the appliances and equipment you should need to cook your favourite meals, and includes a dishwasher to ease clearing up; there is a dining table that can be extended to seat more guests. The property has three bedrooms, made up of a king, a double and a single with a pull-out bed option (for a child). There is a family bathroom with shower over the bath and an additional toilet. The property also offers a gym which is shared with other properties on the land, inside the gym is a designated study area should you need somewhere peaceful to do a few hours work.

The property is located one mile from the village of Whittington which has a supermarket, pharmacy, newsagent, Chinese take-away, hairdresser, two village pubs and the beautiful church of St Giles originally built in the 13th century. A wonderful array of amenities and a selection of charming walks can be enjoyed straight from the front door. A short drive away is the lovely market towns of Lichfield and Ashbourne. Lichfield retains its original character with a beautiful cathedral, Samuel Johnson’s home, a centre dedicated to Erasmus Darwin, St Mary’s Centre (where the Staffordshire Millennium Tapestries are on permanent display) and wonderful places to stop and enjoy some food. The market town of Ashbourne is worth visiting, with its original cobbled lanes, old market stalls and grand Georgian buildings which are home to a good selection of restaurants, interesting shops and traditional coaching inns. Why not visit nearby Burton-upon-Trent? Here you can enjoy a fascinating day discovering the art of brewing beer, whilst the National Memorial Arboretum is just a short drive away.
