Enjoying spectacular countryside views, this detached holiday cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high standard and set within the 7-acre grounds of Garden Farm (no longer working), in a quiet and peaceful location on the edge of Ilam Hall Country Park. The ground floor comprises of a living room, spacious kitchen and a twin bedroom with an en-suite, and the first floor has a double bedroom and a bathroom. Excellent walking can be enjoyed from the door as well as cycling. The beautiful Dovedale and Manifold valleys lie just a mile away. Tissington and High Peak Trails nearby. Ashbourne 5 miles. The School House is a truly wonderful detached, Grade II listed stone built cottage situated in a rural position in the hamlet of Bradnop, less than 1 mile from the picturesque Peak District National Park. Thoughtfully and extensively renovated throughout to offer spacious, comfortable accommodation and even boasts its very own private hot tub for guests use. Many of the original features have been carefully retained including beams, exposed stone walls and fireplace to name but a few. There is a well-kept enclosed garden at the front of the property and a paddock area to the rear.
The small and pretty rural hamlet of Bradnop is situated on the western edge of the Peak District National Park. Close by you will find the market town of Leek with its array of antique shops and quirky crafts. The thriving picturesque market town of Ashbourne and the spa town of Buxton are within driving distance. For families and the more adventurous, Alton Towers is only a 5 mile drive away.
Nearby you will find superb walks with Dovedale, the beautiful Manifold Valley, and the popular Manifold Cycle Track, all within easy reach. There are lots of pretty villages to explore one being Hartington where you will find tasty local cheeses in the village cheese shop, also close by there are several pubs serving fantastic home cooked food. Kings Barn is a lovely barn conversion which has been thoughtfully renovated in 2022 by the owner and offers guests space and comfort. Although it has retained some of its traditional features, it also has a modern and contemporary feel. On the ground floor is a living room with comfortable seating, Smart TV and patio doors which lead to the side of the property, a further reception room, again with comfortable seating and a Smart TV, a well-equipped kitchen/dining room and a utility room. Also on the ground floor are two of the bedrooms and the family bathroom. Upstairs are a further three bedrooms, accommodating up to 10 guests. Outside in the courtyard, you will find a garden room/office complete with Wi-Fi.
Being close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, the Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford, Weston Park, the historic town of Shrewsbury, the beautiful Shropshire Hills and many National Trust and English Heritage sites, there is plenty to do. For those looking for a day out shopping, Shrewsbury town is half an hour away. Cannock Chase, one of England’s finest natural landscapes famous for its scenery, wildlife and rich history, is only half an hour away. It offers walking, cycling and horse riding in a superb setting, and in August 2022 was the venue for the Commonwealth Games cross-country mountain bike racingShropshire has an array of outdoor activities on offer including kayaking, canoeing, cycling, walking, gliding, golf, fishing and horse racing. The area is never short of places to visit with a plethora of castles, abbeys, farms, museums, discovery centres, gardens, parks and historic houses.

Gretna is located on the outskirts of Longnor, a village nestled within the Peak District hills. Although the bungalow itself is quite rural, you are just a few minutes’ drive into the centre of the village where there is a pub and shop, around 5 miles is the nearest town of Buxton which has many independent shops, cafeé, and a variety of restaurants plus the opera house, which has shows on weekly, and the Pavillion Gardens which are lovely to walk around. There are other towns close to Gretna such as Leek, Ashbourne, Bakewell and the Chatsworth Estate. If you are an avid walker, you will be spoilt for choice, step outside the property and immediately be surrounded by the rolling hills offering endless countryside walks, if you prefer to follow a trail and cycle route you are just a small number of miles from the High Peak Trail which is relatively flat and has pub and ice cream stops on route.
As you arrive at Gretna you will find ample parking down the driveway for all guests’ cars. There is a private back garden with comfortable furniture to sit on whilst spending the morning planning your exciting day ahead. There is a large living room with enough seating for all guests on the L-shaped sofa, which conveniently faces the Smart TV and wood burner; the views from this room are stunning and far reaching, especially on a clear day. The views can also be seen from the kitchen, which has all the appliances and equipment you should need to cook your favourite meals, and includes a dishwasher to ease clearing up; there is a dining table that can be extended to seat more guests. The property has three bedrooms, made up of a king, a double and a single with a pull-out bed option (for a child). There is a family bathroom with shower over the bath and an additional toilet. The property also offers a gym which is shared with other properties on the land, inside the gym is a designated study area should you need somewhere peaceful to do a few hours work.

The property is located one mile from the village of Whittington which has a supermarket, pharmacy, newsagent, Chinese take-away, hairdresser, two village pubs and the beautiful church of St Giles originally built in the 13th century. Lichfield retains its original character with a beautiful cathedral, Samuel Johnson’s home, a centre dedicated to Erasmus Darwin, St Mary’s Centre (where the Staffordshire Millennium Tapestries are on permanent display) and wonderful places to stop and enjoy some food. The market town of Ashbourne is worth visiting, with its original cobbled lanes, old market stalls and grand Georgian buildings which are home to a good selection of restaurants, interesting shops and traditional coaching inns. Why not visit nearby Burton-upon-Trent? Here you can enjoy a fascinating day discovering the art of brewing beer, whilst the National Memorial Arboretum is just a short drive away.
