Inland you are on the doorstep of the southern gateway to the Norfolk Broads National Park and Oulton Broad. Lowestoft has two popular piers, one holds classic seaside entertainment and the other has an all year round restaurant with wonderful views of Lowestoft’s beautiful sandy beach, as you would expect from this seaside destination. Beccles town offers independent boutiques and chain shops, a great collection of eateries including fine dining and many cafés serving home made cakes and savouries. The weekly market is excellent for all things local should you wish to enjoy a night of cooking and dining in. The Broads National Park is very popular, best enjoyed on the waterways with kayaks, canoes and day boat motor launches for a more leisurely pace. Alternatively sit back and enjoy a guided boat tour, where you can just soak up the incredible national park. Don’t forget to enjoy a swim at the local Lido open air heated swimming pool, popular with many local swimmers. The Nest is a beautiful, self-contained one-bedroom cottage situated next to the main farmhouse. It can sleep up to three adults or two adults with two children. It’s a bright and airy room, but once you’ve drawn the curtains and dimmed the lights it’s the ideal place to cosy up with a good book. Thetford Forest is a short drive away and encompasses some 47,000 acres of forestry. Here you’ll find great walks, cycle routes and nature trails to explore. It is also home to High Lodge and Go Ape. Take the time to visit the picturesque town of Bury St Edmunds with its famous abbey and great places to eat, drink and shop. The town also hosts a popular Christmas market in early December. National Trust properties nearby include Ickworth Park, Oxburgh Hall and Anglesey Abbey and Gardens. Newmarket is perfect for an exciting day at the races.
