Stowmarket, 10 miles, is home to the Museum of East Anglian Life, has a wide range of shops and restaurants and direct train links to London Liverpool Street Station. Bury St Edmunds with its cathedral, abbey grounds and Georgian theatre, the market town of Diss and the county towns of Ipswich, Norwich and Colchester are all within easy reach. Slightly further afield are the unspoilt delights of the Suffolk Heritage Coast, including Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Walberswick, Southwold and the ancient burial ground at Sutton Hoo (National Trust). Whilst in the other direction visitors can enjoy the riverside market town of Woodbridge with a swimming pool and independent cinema, the ancient burial ground at Sutton Hoo (NT) and the Victorian seaside resort of Felixstowe. There is the Curve watersports centre offering paddle boarding, wakeboarding, kayaking and an aqua park and if you are a novice, you can book lessons. If you are looking for something to keep the children amused then Clacton and Walton are only 15 minutes away, here you will find amusements, arcades, shops and for a bit of retail therapy the Clacton Shopping Village. A visit to Colchester is a must, here you will find the castle and museum, Colchester Zoo, First Site, Mercury theatre and an array of shops and restaurants.
If you fancy a day out in London, shopping or taking in a show then jump on a train and you will be there in less than an hour. If you fancy a bit of pampering, then there is a spa near Thorpe-le-Soken and for the golfers amongst you then you have the pick of golf courses.
