Rendham’s traditional village pub, serving local beers and good food, is just steps from the self-catering cottage and the historic village church is across the road. This semi-detached cottage with patio garden is well laid out with the dining room at the heart and the kitchen leading off of it to one side and the living room to the other with a hatch between the two. There are two bedrooms, one with a super king zip and link bed with a separate shower room and the other bedroom with a kingsized bed and an en-suite bathroom.
Ideal for couples and small families wanting to explore the Suffolk Coastal “Area of Natural Beauty”, Rendham is within easy reach of the picturesque seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Orford, and the market town of Framlingham. The Colne Estuary offers further fishing and boating opportunities. Check out Brightlingsea Harbour. There is a great watersports park at St Osyth, a 2-mile drive away. This area is well regarded as Essex’s ‘best kept secret’, with the popular coastal towns of Brightlingsea, Wivenhoe, Mersea, Clacton, Frinton and Walton-on-the-Naze, all within half an hour’s drive. There is a foot ferry (summer months) to Mersea Island to Brightlingsea to enjoy the promenade, lido and fish and chips. The town of Colchester is close by, famous for its cobbled streets, castle and world renowned zoo, with a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. Further afield are Ipswich, Chelmsford and Felixstowe. Many picturesque villages and the Constable Country are close by - Dedham, Flatford Mill and Manningtree within ½ hour and, Nayland, Lavenham and Long Melford to name but a few. Other local pastimes include golf.

Just 400 yards from the cottage onto Marsh Lane is a footpath where you can walk alongside the river. The village of Gillingham sits on the Norfolk and Suffolk border, located in the Broads National Park where the River Waveney runs through. Beccles town offers independent boutiques and chain shops, a great collection of eateries including fine dining and many cafés serving home made cakes and savouries. The weekly market is excellent for all things local should you wish to enjoy a night of cooking and dining in. The Broads National Park is very popular, best enjoyed on the waterways with kayaks, canoes and day boat motor launches for a more leisurely pace. Alternatively sit back and enjoy a guided boat tour, where you can just soak up the incredible national park. Don’t forget to enjoy a swim at the local Lido open air heated swimming pool, popular with many local swimmers. Norwich (18 miles) a bustling cathedral city with culture, heritage, excellent shopping and entertainment for all. Watch the weekly speed boat racing (in season) on Oulton Broad, 9 miles. Suffolk Heritage Coastline, famous Southwold for the pier, lighthouse, beach and fresh seafood eateries, 15 miles, and Walberswick RSPB reserve, 14 miles. Golf course within 1½ miles. Families should make time for a trip to Pleasurewood Hills, the only theme park in East Anglia, and those looking for a quieter time will find the Norfolk Broads National Park a great choice, the southern gateway of which lies in Oulton Broad, just a short drive away. Shoppers should head to the medieval city of Norwich, which was voted one of the top ten shopping locations in the UK. Here you will also find a splendid Norman castle and a host of museums and galleries, all of which make this city a great day out, reached either by car or the nearby railway line.
Add in lots of great walks, cycle routes and wildlife watching opportunities and you will see why this area remains so popular. After a day out exploring and having worked up a great appetite, you will be delighted to find that there are not only lots of great places to eat close to Kirkley Cliff, but lots of delivery options for when you are too tired to cook or venture out. The Nest is a beautiful, self-contained one-bedroom cottage situated next to the main farmhouse. It can sleep up to three adults or two adults with two children. It’s the perfect location for those wishing to explore the local area and is ideal for those interested in walking and wildlife. The living room is a former conservatory with a cosy roof and has underfloor heating to ensure comfort all year round. The living room has a double sofa bed, TV and dining table. You’ll also find a selection of games and toys to keep you entertained, and books and maps to help you whilst exploring the area. The small but perfectly formed kitchen has everything you need, with a full oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge. You’ll find some of the basics such as cooking oil, salt, pepper etc already in the cupboards. The bedroom features a super kingsize bed, reading lights, built-in wardrobes with a full-length mirror and French doors opening up onto the private garden. It’s a bright and airy room, but once you’ve drawn the curtains and dimmed the lights it’s the ideal place to cosy up with a good book. Just off the bedroom is a large shower room, with a walk-in shower, twin vanity units and toilet. The garden has a seating area, with gas BBQ and a chimnea with views out across the farm fields allowing you to listen to the birdsong.
We’ve made sure you don’t need to pack too heavily, with games, toys for the kids, DVDs, books, picnic blanket, flask, Tupperware, children’s cups, plates and cutlery all provided. We can even lend camping chairs, beach shelters and buckets and spades if needed. Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten your four-legged friend, there’s bowls, blankets, poo bags and a little treat ready for their arrival too.
Located in the heart of Suffolk Coast’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Nest is the perfect retreat for those wishing to explore the area. This is an old fisherman’s cottage with very steep stairs to the first floor leading to the master bedroom and a very small second bedroom. In the summer Aldeburgh is a hive of activity and a much sought after location. Its high street is filled with restaurants, pubs and shops. Along the promenade, fresh fish is sold from the beach huts that line the sandy stretch of beach - the iconic scallop shell sculpture standing proud in the centre, a tribute to Benjamin Britten, the composer famously affiliated with this beautiful part of the world. Surrounding Aldeburgh there is plenty to see and do and a short drive inland will bring you to Snape Maltings, the home of Aldeburgh Music. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there is a year round music programme. This unique location brings visitors outstanding concerts, events, cafés, galleries, river trips and much more. On road parking is available a short walk from the property. Alternatively, there is a church car park for short stays, overnight is not available unless agreed with the church in advance. Situated on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, the cottage is well placed for touring Suffolk including the picturesque towns of Woodbridge, Aldeburgh, Southwold, Dunwich, Walberswick, Orford and Harwich. Only half an hours drive from Snape, famous for its all year round concerts. Further inland are Framlingham, a quaint old town with a cobbled market square, tea shops, good eating houses and a castle. For the children, a day out and a picnic at Easton Farm Park, is a must. Set in a lovely original farm setting with antique machinery, farm animals, arts and crafts, childrens play area, a restaurant and a picnic area set alongside a river. Slightly further afield are the famous small towns of Long Melford, a haven for antique hunters, and famous for Kentwell and Long Melford Halls. The medieval old wood town of Lavenham is also worth a visit as is Constable Country and the Dedham Vale.
