The hut is named after ‘Flossy’ the dog that was given to Anne Brontë by the family for whom she served as governess, and is ideally situated, surrounded by fields and countryside views enjoying direct access onto the ‘Pennine Way’ and many famous walks including The Brontë Way, Millennium Way, The Railway Children Trail, Top Withens’ and Brontë Falls.
Inside the hut, you are greeted by an open-plan design oozing luxury adorned with antique treasures incorporating the living space with a cosy log-burner, a comfy kingsize bed with storage and a fully fitted kitchen and dining area. An oak door leads to a family bathroom benefitting from a shower and wall-mounted heated towel rail. While away the evening enjoying freshly cooked pizza on the wood-fired pizza oven, toasting marshmallows on the Kadai firepit or soaking in the beautiful ‘Hikki’ hot tub while stargazing at the night sky with only the comforting sound of sheep or owls calling to break the silence. When sleep calls, sink into the luxurious kingsize bed with Egyptian cotton bed linen and rest your head and recharge ready to explore all that this outstanding area has to offer the next day. Be sure to visit the nearby village of Haworth, home of the famous Brontë sisters and the inspiration for many of their famous novels; Haworth is an undisputed literary mecca, attracting visitors from all around the world. With its historic cobbled Main Street, iconic Brontë Parsonage and rolling moors, the picturesque proportions of this Airedale village exude a vintage charm that makes you feel you’ve stepped into another era. There are also a wide variety of quaint eateries and pubs for refuelling before leaving the village and exploring the lonely moors beyond where the Brontë sisters found their inspiration. Further afield, such gems as Malham Cove, Ingleton Waterfalls, or the bustling market town of Skipton await and are sure not to disappoint. This beautiful stone-built cottage offers a comfortable stay in the charming World Heritage Site of Saltaire, which is full of history, character and stunning architecture. The village is named after Sir Titus Salt who built a textile mill, known as Salts Mill and this village on the River Aire back in the 1800s. There are many reasons why you should visit Saltaire from the spectacular architecture as you wander around the village, to the independent shops and restaurants scattered around the village. There is world class art on display at Salts Mill with one of the largest collections of David Hockney’s, and all surrounded by countryside and moors.
Bronte country is also nearby, offering lots of wonderful walking routes across the moors and, for those keen on cycling, why not try a section of the Tour de France route that runs through Keighley and Haworth? For a more relaxing way to explore the area, hop on the Worth Valley Steam Train from Keighley Station, which takes you on a 5-mile journey through the Haworth moors and on to Oxenhope, once home to the Bronte sisters. The village of Haworth, 8 miles, is well worth a visit with its pretty cobbled streets lined with bunting and old-fashioned windows giving you a glimpse of the wares within. There is an array of antique shops, independent bookstores, pavement cafés and restaurants, plus the Bronte Parsonage Museum.
The market town of Skipton, also known as ‘The Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’, 15 miles, is another great day out and can be easily accessed by the train station located at the end of the road, with its tempting selection of bars and restaurants, a medieval castle and bustling street markets. You can also take a stroll along the Leeds & Liverpool canal that runs through, or simply watch the barges chug through from a bar overlooking the water. The only issue you will have is trying to fit everything in so why not book a few extra days? Pub 1 mile.

Hop aboard the steam railway between Haworth and Keighley, a wonderfully nostalgic experience- the location was even used in the hugely popular film ’The Railway Children’. Nestled next to a working dairy farm and livery in the small village of South Hiendley, once you step out of the door, you’re greeted with beautiful views of rural west Yorkshire. Surrounded by attractive open countryside South Hiendley is home to a good local pub, and in the nearby town of Hemsworth 10 minutes away you’ll find further ample amenities.
For those wanting to blow the cobwebs away, Hemsworth is also home to Hemsworth Water Park, where you’ll find two well stocked fishing lakes, one where you can take pedalo rides, and a man-made sandy beach. Carlton Marsh Nature Reserve is also just 5 minutes away and Fitzwilliam Country Park is 15 minutes away. There’s also Wentworth Castle, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Cannon Hall, all can be reached in just 20 minutes meaning you really are spoilt for choice. Finally, slightly further afield a 30 minute drive will take you to the edge of the Peak District National Park and everything it has to offer, the shopping centres of both Meadowhall and White Rose, or the bright lights of the city of Sheffield in 40 minutes. Dating back to the 17th Century, Hob Cote is a superb semi-detached stone built cottage in a peaceful and picturesque location just 1-mile from artsy Hebden Bridge. Completely renovated throughout in 2021, the cottage and surrounding grounds are simply stunning and come complete with private hot tub. Inside you’ll find beamed ceilings, an impressive stone fireplace boasting a wood burner and stylish wooden panelling to the walls. The three bedrooms are beautifully decorated and super comfortable, which with the peaceful surroundings guarantee a great night’s sleep.
Outside the grounds are delightful and offer stunning far reaching views. To the front you’ll find a south facing patio complete with a Lazy Susan garden set, perfect for sociable meals. To the rear however is the real pièce de resistance. As you step outside the back door you’re greeted by a carefully thought out barbecue and hot tub area offering both privacy and shelter. Beyond this is a further multi layered garden which quite uniquely has a hut at the top complete with wood burner, where you can sit and enjoy the views of the wooded valley below, no matter what the weather.
The location in Midgehole is semi-rural and on the edge of the National Trust owned beauty spot of Hardcastle Crags. Here you can stroll amongst woodland, waterfalls and streams and visit the café at Gibson Mill which offers a range of snacks. Countless other public footpaths are available in the area including the picturesque river path down into Hebden Bridge, which was the UK’s first ‘walkers are welcome’ accredited town. In Hebden Bridge you’ll find a bustling collection of independent shops, bars and cafés as well as a 1920’s Art Deco cinema and a live music venue. Hebden Bridge train station is in the centre of the town and offers a direct service to both Manchester, 30 minutes, and Leeds, 60 minutes, and both the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks can be reached in around an hours drive.
Due to the age of the property it should be noted that head height is restricted through some doorways; and the stairs are not suitable for guests with restricted mobility, or young children. The stairs are steep, open sided and the treads are not consistent in size.

Situated in the very centre of the Calderdale market town of Todmorden is this beautifully presented property. Accessed via a short narrow lane a stone’s throw from Todmorden train station. As soon as you step through the gate you won’t be disappointed. You enter the property via the enclosed courtyard which catches the sun well into the evening, and into a wonderful sunroom. You’ll immediately find the property is jam packed full of character with each and every room stylishly decorated with a blend of beautifully coordinated colours and furnishings. The open plan living and dining space overlooks Todmorden’s’ open market on the main high street, and in the bathroom pride of place is a beautiful slipper bath. The access and steep narrow stairs mean the property isn’t suited to those with reduced mobility, however its central location and vicinity to the train station means it’s perfect for those wanting to give their cars a rest.
Within Todmorden town centre is a fine selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs and independent shops, together with the afore mentioned market for your shopping pleasure! Loved by outdoor enthusiasts you can spend the day walking along the Rochdale Canal or taking a hike along the Pennine Way to the Stoodley Pike Monument. Just under 5 miles (or a 7-minute train journey) is the popular destination of quirky Hebden Bridge which is also home to National Trusts Hardcastle Craggs.
From Hebden Bridge a scenic drive over the moors takes you to Haworth where the splendid Parsonage Museum commemorates the famous Bronte family who lived there. With the Peak District National Park to the south, the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the north and direct train links to both Leeds and Manchester you can be assured that there’s something to keep you busy and entertained throughout your whole trip. Just a short walk from the centre of bustling Holmfirth, this spectacular property boasts stunning far reaching views over the valley which you can enjoy whilst soaking in the luxury of your very own hot tub. A spacious and detached cottage, set out over one level, it is surrounded by beautiful wild gardens which extend into woodland thereby offering privacy and seclusion. Set in the Holme Valley on the edge of the Peak District National Park the surrounding magnificent countryside is most familiar as the back drop to the great British sitcom ’Last of the Summer Wine’. It is perfect for walking and cycling, with keen cyclists able to recreate routes used in the Tour de Yorkshire. A 10-minute walk down hill will take you to vibrant Holmfirth, home to shops, bars, cafés and restaurants in abundance, however a word to the wise, the roads back including the driveway to the cottage are steep and not for the faint hearted. Digley Reservoir and Holmfirth Vineyard are both around a 10-minute drive from the property and further afield you’ll find attractions for all interests within easy reach. These include the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, The Hepworth Gallery, Nostell Priory, Salts Mill, Bronte Parsonage and Harewood House, all within an hour’s drive, as are the cities of York, Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield.
