Nearby is Gatcombe Park, the home of the Princess Royal. There are some lovely walks around the village and surrounding beautiful countryside. Tetbury is just 3 miles away, a thriving market town with elegant buildings and 17th-century market hall. As well as offering a unique retail experience with many craft shops, it is also a major centre for antiques. Malmesbury, 8 miles, is the oldest borough in England with its Norman Abbey and the beautiful Abbey House Gardens. The Roman city of Cirencester is 12 miles away, and there are many Roman remains in the surrounding area, including several Roman villas near the villages of Chedworth and Withington. The famous Cheltenham racecourse is 20 miles away and the magnificent city of Bath, famous for its hot springs, is 26 miles.

Wotton-under-Edge sits right on the famous Cotswolds Way. This friendly village has a plethora of traditional cottages, with a village high street that includes independent shops including crafts and country boutiques, as well as a cinema, allow yourself some extra time when meandering as the shopkeepers love to stop and chat. You will also find all the essentials too, such as green grocers for picking up your organic produce, a butchers for some fine local produce for cooking up a hearty meal for all. Why not take a trip to the family run Winner Hill Vineyard, to pick up a sparkling white to accompany your dinner. It is said by many that it’s just as good as some of the best French bottles. You can even make an afternoon of it and partake in some tasting for a fun day out. A little further beyond, you will find Tetbury is 10 miles away, and Bath and Bristol are both 20 miles. Badminton is 5 miles and Berkeley Castle, Wildfowl Trust at Slimbridge and Westonbirt Arboretum all within easy distance. Golf can also be found nearby. Beach 21 miles. Bramley Barn is in a great location, situated in the village of Wick, a perfect holiday base for those who wish to explore the many attractions Wiltshire has to offer, or stay in and enjoy the house and its features. The barn is great for entertaining with a large dining room and fully equipped kitchen with island. There is plenty of parking on site and you’re only a 15-minute drive into the centre of Bath.

Experience the Georgian city of Bath, only 7 miles away by car. With its famous architecture, the Jane Austen Centre, and thermal spa (Thermae), the city offers something for everybody. The Roman Baths, The Royal Crescent, the famous Pulteney Bridge, and the Christmas markets are among the city’s many must see attractions. Nearby National Trust properties can be found within a short drive, as well as other stately homes. Head to Longleat Safari Park or visit Avebury and Stonehenge, all under an hour away.

This fabulous barn conversion which has been renovated over 2019/2020 is an ideal place for friends or larger families. Set in Bream, the property is a great base for exploring the Forest of Dean.

There are places of historic interest too such as Tintern Abbey and Chepstow Castle, and the market towns of Monmouth, Coleford and Ross on Wye. Claysun House has an abundance of space inside and out, perfect for all the family, young and old. This stunning four bedroom, four bathroom detached home is nestled within the Forest of Dean. From kayaking and river boat cruises at Symonds Yat, rock climbing, treetop adventures at GoApe, to underworld caving at Clearwell.

You are also within easy reach of the Malvern Hills, Three Counties Showground and the Roman City of Gloucester, with its wonderful cathedral where Harry Potter was filmed and a designer dockside shopping outlet. Within a 30-minute drive there are Michelin starred restaurants, numerous bars, stylish shops and salons aplenty dotted along the regency promenades of Cheltenham Spa. Just a 30-minute country drive away is Stroud, this bustling town has a bohemian vibe with independent shops, eateries and markets. The locally renowned Salt Bakery bread and croissants, and wonderful Eleon olive oil are a must for your basket. With all your yummy produce, why not pack up a picnic and head to Coaley Peak with its fabulous viewpoint looking out across the Severn Vale and out to Wales. Box Tree Cottage has been renovated to a high standard in 2021. Located in Blakeney in The Forest of Dean, it is an ideal location for exploring the beautiful area. This is a fantastic area for those who want to escape to the countryside. You won’t get bored exploring local forests, whether cycling through the many trails or admiring the views on foot. You might like to jump on the train and head 45-minutes away to Cardiff for shopping and dining out. For a great day out, be sure to visit Gloucester Cathedral, a must see for Harry Potter fans! Or for a change of pace enjoy some shopping in Cheltenham or Bristol.
Other outdoor activities include canoeing at Symonds Yat, walking through Clearwell Caves hidden under the forest floor and Go Ape at Beechenhurst. There is plenty for children to explore, such as a magical day at Puzzlewood, take a trip on the steam railways or visit the Butterfly Trail in nearby Ross-on-Wye.
