This lovely, detached farmhouse sits in rolling countryside within the beautiful Snowdonia National Park just outside the little hamlet of Rhyduchaf and is two miles from the historic market town of Bala. The farmhouse offers four good sized bedrooms and there is plenty of space to relax. There is a pleasant yard where guests can relax with a glass of wine or it makes a great place to dine al fresco.
Bala offers a choice of places to eat out with plenty of cafés and eateries for you to choose from. You can walk straight from the door or hop in the car to explore the area. The National White Water Centre is close by, where you can experience the thrill of rafting or canyoning, whilst more sedate activities may be found on the shores of Bala Lake which is close by. Take a trip on a steam train on the narrow gauge railway along the lake shore between Bala and Llanuwchllyn, have a day at the beach over on the coast at Barmouth, or try some Welsh foodie delights at the award-winning Rhug Estate Organic Farm Shop at Corwen. Further afield in Blaenau Ffestiniog is the incredible Bounce Below where the whole family can try bouncing on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern, and Zip World, the largest zip wire zone in the world where you can fly high over the quarries whilst enjoying the spectacular view as you try not to scream! Beach 28 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Jack’s House in the coastal town of Tywyn is perfect for any time of year, with a patio with seating and a barbecue for the warmer evenings. The kitchen is equipped with all modern conveniences including a coffee machine and an American-style fridge/freezer, and with seven bedrooms in total, three with en-suite facilities, and a further bathroom and a shower room, all with their own walk-in shower.
Local pubs, restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance of the house along with The Magic Lantern Cinema which is well worth a visit. Why not take the Wales Coast Path north, over the Dysynni river and towards the ruins of the old army camp in Tonfannau. A short drive east along the winding Bro Dysynni Valley will take you to the imposing and majestic Craig yr Aderyn (Bird Rock) and the silence and tranquility of Castell y Bere castle. Or you can take the Talyllyn Railway steam train from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn, and explore the many paths and ridges of this quiet, spectacular corner of Wales.If you don’t want to travel by car or public transport, it’s possible to walk to nearby Aberdyfi along the sandy beach. You will find a bustling, chocolate-box pretty harbour village. Also within easy walking distance is Ynysmaengwyn park and woodland, the site of a ruined mansion. Jack’s House is also only 30 miles from Snowdonia National Park.

Here you’re really in the heart of all North Wales has to offer, with lakes, coastal paths, Snowdonia and popular tourist towns all within easy reach. Dinas Dinlle beach is in walking distance from the lodge, with wonderful views across the bay to the Llyn Peninsula and Anglesey. Caernarfon Castle, an imposing UNESCO World Heritage site, is under 8 miles and where Prince Charles took his investiture. Venture just a little further and you have Pwllheli, Criccieth and Porthmadog, home to the Welsh Highland Railway. There’s something for all ages in this diverse region and it would certainly be a break to remember. Beach ½ mile.

Golfers are also well catered for with an 18-hole championship golf course located at the western end of the village, which welcomes visiting players. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the wonderful opportunities for walking and bird watching available in the surrounding area. A myriad of visitor attractions are within easy reach including the Vale of Rheidol Railway, Talyllyn Railway, the Corris Craft Centre and King Arthur’s Labyrinth. Beach 100 yards. Caernarfon, with its magnificent castle and a fine selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, is just 15 minutes drive away, and is also the start of the Welsh Highland Railway for scenic journeys into the heart of Snowdonia. The popular beaches of Dinas Dinlle and Llanfairfechan are only 20 minutes’ drive away. Tyn Y Maen is a perfect location for relaxing winter escapes and summer beach holidays.

Bustling Barmouth is also only a short distance, take a walk along the promenade and indulge in some fish and chips. An iconic feature of the town is Barmouth Bridge, over 150-year-old railway viaduct across the Mawddach Estuary. It is half a mile in length with a wooden promenade suitable for pedestrians or cyclists which now forms part of the Wales Coast Path and the Lon Las Cymru Cycle Network. Nantcol waterfalls are just 5 miles away and offer a great day out, a perfect place for a family picnic whilst playing in the stream. All amenities are close by, with a pub and shop in nearby Bontnewydd. Only a short 5-mile drive takes you down to the beautiful beach at Dinas Dinlle, which is well worth a visit, with wonderful views across the bay to Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula. The area is a designated Site of Special Scientific interest due to a number of rare birds that live in the area; a must for any bird watchers. For the more adventurous, you’re only a short drive from many walking routes that will take you up Mount Snowdon, for the less adventurous there’s always the easier route up by train on the famous railway in Llanberis. And no visit to this area would be complete without taking in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Caernarfon Castle. You’re also only a short drive to Zip World, the longest zip wire in the world! What a magnificent area this really is!
