Newtown is only a few miles away, with tea rooms, bistros and lovely restaurants should you fancy a bite to eat. Kites Nest has lovely views across the countryside, with a woodland sat behind it. Here you can sit on the terrace or in your private hot tub with the sounds of nature all around you.

Sitting on the valley slope, this handcrafted wooden lodge perfectly soaks up the sun as it sweeps through the valley and enjoys simply stunning views of the tranquil countryside surrounds. The lodge sits at the top of a large grazing field. At any time of the day your wish for a countryside experience can be fed with the sight of farm animals in the field. Children staying here will be in heaven! What’s more, the lovely owner is happy to show you around his farm. Lambing, feeding lambs or calves can be arranged on request.

Stay in and listen to the sounds of red kites flying overhead from their nesting sites in the woods behind, while at night hear the hypnotic hoot of owls hunting in the darkness. The natural murmurings of this secluded location offer a real sense of wild serenity. Explore these woodlands by day with a path direct from the lodge. The lodge is effortlessly chic, while the sweeping glass creates a gorgeous panorama of the valley below. Full central heating and a log burner would make this a perfect winter break. Its central location in Mid Wales makes it well placed to visit much of Wales’ itself with the beaches of Aberdyfi, Snowdonia National Park, The Shropshire Hills, and even The Brecon Beacons all within an hours’ drive. Romantic or birthday packages are available if requested via the owner.

Beach House, situated on Hampshire’s Hayling Island has two double bedrooms on the first floor, one with spectacular views and sounds of the ocean to enjoy. There is a third bedroom on the ground floor with a single bed. Making the most of the views, the owners have created a fantastic living space with bi-folding doors straight out of the living into the beach facing garden and a dining room with further ocean views- perfect spot for an evening meal.

Hayling Island is well known for its sailing activities, it is sheltered by the Isle of Wight, making it ideal for water sport activities. It is renowned for its windsurfing, kayaking, power boating, jet ski-ing, kitesurfing and wake boarding. Local paddle boating and windsurfing lessons are available close by. Every year there is a national windsurfing event, and a hive of sailing and nautical activity can be seen along the coastline. For those that want to join in, you will find two paddle boards and two long boards in the garage that can be used.

For those who enjoy walking and cycling why not visit the Hayling Billy Trail – an historical multi-use trail spanning the full west coast of the island and used to be the original route of the “Hayling Billy” train line. Two bikes are also available to use.

Many activities can be enjoyed locally for all ages, including a seaside railway and a small amusement park for the children. For the sports enthusiast, Seacourt is also worth a visit, with five racket sports including real tennis. Also, nearby activities including golf, horse riding, boat trips and scenic walks along the water’s edge or scenic walks along the South Downs National Park which are within easy reach. Chichester with its beautiful cathedral, festival theatre, pedestrianised shopping, leisure centre, Roman Villa and Goodwood or Fontwell races, it’s definitely worthy of a visit.

Visit Portsmouth with waterside dining, ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, designer outlets, Natural Museum, leisure facilities, Spinnaker Tower, HMS Victory, or the maritime history at Southampton. Winchester with its cathedral, abbey and The New Forest are within easy driving distance. Plenty of National Trust homes and gardens can also be discovered nearby.

Sunbury is perfectly located for exploring what the South Coast has to offer. Just a 10-minute drive from the market town Petersfield and 30 minutes from the Goodwood Estate, known for its racing, golfing and horse racing and home to the famous Festival of Speed and Revival. Within easy reach are beaches at Hayling Island, Southsea and West Wittering’s and just a 10-minute drive from the nautical city of Portsmouth with Spinnaker Tower, designer outlet shopping and waterside dining at Gunwharf Quays. Day trips to the Isle of Wight and HMS Victory and the Mary Rose can also be enjoyed. National Trust homes such as Goodwood House, Petworth House and Uppark House, Weald and Downland Living Museum and West Dean Gardens are all also worth a visit.

Joyful Cottage is a charming coastal cottage that offers the perfect holiday home for couples or families looking to explore this stunning part of Hampshire, from wonderful beaches to the breath-taking natural beauty of the New Forest all just a short distance away. This pretty two-bedroom cottage is nestled within a vibrant, bustling seaside village Milford on Sea, one of the last remaining seaside villages, is popular year-round, with a good selection of pubs, restaurants and local shops. The cottage is only 10 minutes’ walk from the beach and 5 minutes from excellent birdwatching areas within a popular conservation area, including the marshes and Sturt Pond, where there is a hide. Walk along Hurst Spit to Hurst Castle, about 1½ miles away, where Charles I was imprisoned; there is also a ferry from nearby Keyhaven to the castle.
It is a scenic walk over the cliff tops to Barton-on-Sea, and you can stop off at the café for refreshments on route! There are Victorian Pleasure Gardens throughout the village which follow the river, and keen walkers can take the coastal path from Keyhaven Nature Reserve to Lymington. Although it is a long walk, it takes in some incredible views. Further afield you can park your car at Hengistbury Head and walk all the way to Boscombe, or alternatively from Highcliffe Castle to Mudeford, then take the short ferry to Hengistbury.
The beaches in the locality are very clean, and many people swim from the Milford Beaches. There is a paddle boarding shop in the village, and lessons can be taken in Mudeford. The water in Christchurch Harbour is very shallow, and great for those learning to paddle board. Lymington, with its harbour, restaurants, inns, nautical boutiques and ferry link to the Isle of Wight, is only about 5 miles. The New Forest is known for it extensive scenic walks, cycling and riding routes, whilst other places to visit include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Paultons Park, Bucklers Hard, Marwell Zoo, New Forest Owl and Otter Park and Christchurch Priory. Many larger beaches with various attractions are within easy reach, including Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth. Situated in small, charming village of Alverstoke in the borough of Gosport. Windbrake House is just a 10-minute walk from the village where there is a convenience shop, a post office, a Chinese restaurant and take-away, fish and chip shop, hairdressers and gift shop. There is a south facing garden to the front of the property, and the owner thoughtfully provides complimentary toiletries. There is an excellent bistro on the front at Stokes Bay which serves home cooked food at reasonable prices with big portions!

There is always something to see at Stokes Bay. The Solent, between the Isle of Wight and Stokes Bay, is used by all manner of boats, ships and water sports including Cowes Week, naval reviews, cruise liners, America’s Cup, P1 Powerboat racing, Fast Net departure and American aircraft carriers, to name a few!

Stoke’s Bay also has two cafés as well as a wine bar and a free splash park for children. There is also a leisure centre and ice-rink a short drive away. It takes 7 minutes to drive to Gosport harbour front where there is a long-stay car park (at cost) and with a return passenger ferry ticket across Portsmouth Harbour you can soon spend a quality day at either the naval dockyard or at Gunwharf Quays, a retail outlet with many designer stores, restaurants, bowling alley and multi-screen cinema and Portsmouth Spinnaker Tower, both located close to the ferry terminal.
From Portsmouth Harbour there are fabulous views to be enjoyed on a promenade to Southsea and Old Portsmouth where you can enjoy excellent pubs beside the fish market whilst watching the fishing boats or catch the hovercraft to the Isle of Wight. From the Portsmouth side you can also take the car or go as a passenger to the Isle of Wight with Wightlink Ferries or take a harbour tour as part of the dockyard visit or from Gunwharf Quays.

This fantastic cottage is in the peaceful village of Woodgreen, and you are very likely to see horses, donkeys and cattle (and during Panage, wild pigs) wandering past your front gate. Woodgreen is a charming village situated on the north west edge of the New Forest National Park. Woodgreen Common is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and there are many walks and cycle rides that can be undertaken directly from the cottage. Woodgreen also boasts a wonderful village pub, serving traditional British cuisine, which is an easy, level walk from the cottage (make sure you have a torch for the way home), and there is also a delightful community-run village store and post office.
The neighbouring market town of Fordingbridge has a pub on the river and a great grocer shop for local produce; there is also an organic farm shop close by with its own café. Fordingbridge is known for its medieval bridge with five arches, and has many local shops, boutiques, eateries and a church. Nearby there is a waterpark, which offers wakeboarding, sailing, fishing and other water sports, and there is horse riding and golf in the area too.
Thirty minutes or so to the south, you will find beautiful sandy beaches at Southbourne, Bournemouth and Sandbanks. Other places to visit include Moors Valley, Christchurch Harbour and Dorset Heavy Horse Farm. The historic cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury are within a short drive away and are well worth a visit. Family days out include Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Monkey World and Adventure Wonderland. Bedw Lodge (UK32021) and Glyn Haul (UK32022) have been built and furnished in 2020 to a high standard and they have beautiful views with decking and a garden for your four legged friends. Both properties have an outside marble bath tub perfect for gazing at the stars in the evening with a glass of wine. There is plenty to see and do in the area and it is an ideal location for exploring the borderlands of England and Wales, which is an area of pretty countryside and charming market towns. Llanidloes is a typical market town where local goods and produce are readily available, and the town itself boasts plenty of good quality restaurants and bars. Superb walking and cycling is available locally. The lodges are located 150 yards from cycle route 81 so it’s an ideal base for those exploring on two wheels. Llanidloes has over 30 separate way marked walking routes starting from the town centre. The spectacular scenery at Llyn Clywedog, a man-made reservoir just above the town along with Hafren Forest where you will find the source of the River Severn, also affords wonderful walking opportunities. The magnificent Elan Valley reservoirs are just 35 minutes away. And if mountains are your thing, Cadair Idris can be reached in under 1hour, Snowdonia in under 2 hours, and the Brecon Beacons in approximately 1hour 20minutes.
