The Garth is a tastefully converted Grade II listed barn situated on Blakebeck Farm just 2 miles from the unspoilt Lakeland village of Mungrisdale. The properties are located just 600 yards from the lake and are accessed along a quiet country lane. Loweswater is one of the smallest lakes in the Lake District with the village of Loweswater being set on the banks of the lake itself. Nestled in a wooded valley in The Vale of Lorton, it is the first link in a chain of lakes including Crummock Water and Buttermere. If you like to explore and enjoy walking, hiking, climbing or cycling, you have a vast expanse of natural Lakeland scenery to explore, including many of the 214 Wainwright peaks within easy reach. Some of the lower fells include Low Fell, Blake Fell and Gravel Fell to the west, with Mellbreak to the south and to the east. There are some more challenging routes around Grasmoor at 2,795ft. The area boasts beautiful flora and fauna as well as an abundance of wildlife including buzzards, kestrels, ospreys and red squirrels. A trip to Loweswater wouldn’t be the same without a trip to the local hostelry, 2 miles, famous for its great food and award winning beer, ’Loweswater Gold’.

The surrounding area has many attractions and places to visit. The popular town of Cockermouth is just 7 miles away. It’s also the birthplace of William Wordsworth and home the famous Jennings Brewery, nestled beneath the castle walls.
