Hazel Grove House offers an ideal location from which to explore a choice of popular destinations within a 30-minute drive, including The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. The popular market towns of Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale are both well worth a visit, offering a selection of cafés, bars and restaurants for all tastes and occasions, along with a good mix of independent traders and popular stores. For those drawn to the coast, the Kent Estuary and Morecambe Bay are within easy reach, and walkers and cyclists will enjoy the routes available for all abilities. Inland, Farleton Knott is a popular local attraction and visible from the gardens, and from here and neighbouring Hutton Roof Crags, the Lake District Fells across Morecambe Bay can be seen, as well as the Howgill Fells and Middleton Fells in the Yorkshire Dales, together with the moors of Bowland Forest. Located in the small, pretty village of Barley, Fairfield offers spacious and comfortable accommodation, ideal for families wanting to explore all that this beautiful part of the country has to offer. Enjoying an elevated position within the village, the property has lots of space inside and out with a fantastic conservatory overlooking the enclosed garden, which slopes down towards the stream. Barley, which has won the title of Lancashire’s best kept village several times, is within 150 yards of the property so the local pub, café and restaurant are all within a very short walk. The village also has a picnic area which is one of the prettiest in the North West being situated at the foot of Pendle Hill. The area is very popular with walkers who want to climb the hill, follow the Pendle Way or take the Witches Trail.

Barley is located within the Forest of Bowland (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and is surrounded by beautiful Lancashire countryside. The Ribble Valley with its stunning scenery, pretty villages and country inns is right on the doorstep. The market town of Clitheroe with its Norman castle and variety of shops, bars and restaurants is just 8 miles away.

This beautiful cottage, dating back to the early 1800s, is packed full of character and old-world charm, along with some wonderful original features.
Located in the pretty village of Calder Vale on the edge of the Forest of Bowland and with the River Calder running right through it, this pretty cottage is set in a beautiful location. With the river right in front and a lovely lake and bluebell wood to the side, it is ideal for those looking to enjoy its surrounding nature and tranquil environment. Throughout May, the ladies in the village provide teas for thirsty travellers who come from far and wide to see the famous bluebells, and here you can also expect to observe plenty of wildlife including ducks and a variety of birds from robins to swifts as you meander along the path through the wood.

Outside, to the rear of the property, there are a few steps which lead onto a small patio area. Nearby is the historic market town of Garstang, 4½ miles, known for its tasty home-grown produce and individual shops, as well for being the first fairtrade village in the world. Here you can buy some traditional Lancashire home made treats! There are plenty of shops and pubs nearby. You can explore the town and watch the passing canal boats cruise along the peaceful Lancaster Canal, or if you fancy just a short walk (2 miles), you can walk from the village across the fields to Cobble Hey Farm and Gardens where there is a lovely café, gardens and a real working farm to see.
Why not visit the historic city of Lancaster, which has much to see and do? You can explore Lancaster Castle, one of the most captivating landmarks in the city along with its Georgian architecture. Walkers and cyclists are particularly well catered for, with many walks available right from the doorstep. Other activities within a few miles include horse riding and golf. Pendle also has its own dry ski slopes. Sabden village, less than a mile away, has two general stores/off licences/post office, Sandwitches Café at Union Mill, a beauty salon and two pubs.
