There are wonderful walks and cycling straight from the door and out into the National Park and there is bike storage available on-site. Enjoy the many delights of the area including hidden coves and beaches, exhilarating cliff top walks and coastal villages such as Robin Hood’s Bay, and Ravenscar where you can walk down to the foot of the cliffs to view the seal colony. Wonderful Whitby is further north with its busy cobbled streets and independent shops offering everything from Gothic clothing to jet stone jewellery. There is an abundance of traditional pubs with live music that accept pets, coffee shops and tea rooms, and an increasingly popular food scene with gastro pubs and bistros complementing award winning fish and chip shops. There are plenty of dog friendly beach areas to explore where you can enjoy rock pooling and fossil hunting. Keep an eye on the events calendar as there is always something happening in Whitby from the famous Goth weekends, a regatta, music festivals and a folk week being highlights of a year round calendar. Just south of Staintondale you will find the traditional seaside resort of Scarborough with its busy amusement arcades, a waterpark and sandy beaches. The open air theatre hosts live international acts throughout the summer, and no trip to Scarborough is complete without a stroll around Peasholm Park and the world-famous Peasholm Park Naval Warfare which takes place throughout the summer.

Middleham should also be high on the agenda – this famous horse racing town was once home to Richard III and Middleham Castle is steeped in history. Spend a day at the horse racing links and watch world class racehorses gallop down the track.

Skipton is a small town with a big heart. Within a short stroll of Windy Dales Cottage you will arrive at the heart of the town with its wonderful canal path and pretty long boats, the market square and an eclectic range of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. The beautiful village of Brompton lies 8 miles to the west of Scarborough, a tranquil picturesque village home to the church where the poet William Wordsworth married. A picture postcard village with a small stream running down to a picnic area. Here you can feed the ducks and watch the swans and other wildlife.
The farmer’s hens roam freely around the village which gives that feeling of really being in the countryside and amongst the farming community. The house is in a quiet area next to the church and benefits from a large enclosed garden with woodland areas and lots of space for the children to run and play. There’s a Wendy house and a summer house that serve as a getaway for the kids, with game consoles and a TV. The main house has a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area with wonderful large windows that overlook the garden. The property benefits from having 3 bathrooms.
On the first floor there is a mezzanine area that leads to two further bedrooms that are linked by an open plan passage way with a bathroom, perfect for a family to have their own floor and have the children close by.
The seaside resort of Scarborough is just 8 miles away and is a traditional resort with two large beaches and plenty for all age groups to do.
Lawnswood is just two miles from the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, where there are fantastic walks and trails that lead up to the Dalby Forest. The forest is famous for its bike trails and in the past has been home to the World Championship Mountain Bike event. The visitor centre within the forest is popular all year round with its great café and the events that are organised for the children throughout the year. It’s also home to ‘Go Ape’ a high ropes adventure course with zip wires and swings.
Lawnswood is a perfect base to visit the Yorkshire Wolds, the North York Moors and the East Coast. Beach 9 miles. Shop 300 yards, pub 2 miles, restaurant 1 mile.

There is comfy seating around the wood burner where you can sit and relax whilst enjoying watching the cook in the family make you delicious meals. There are double doors that lead into the sun room which has a large table ideal for enjoying light meals. The formal dining room has a large feature table and enough seating for everyone to gather together. In the central hall you will find a downstairs toilet and cloakroom as well as the entrance to the living room which has three huge comfy settees surrounding the wood burner. The large flatscreen TV is wall mounted above the fireplace to ensure everyone can enjoy evening entertainment or take part in some friendly competition at table tennis, darts or table football which you will find in the garage.
Along the corridor from the kitchen and down a couple of steps, there are two bedrooms offering ground floor accommodation with zip and link super kingsize beds and en-suite bathrooms. Both rooms have lovely garden views and are ideal should you struggle with stairs. Upstairs there are two further bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities. Todd’s Pasture is only 8 miles from Helmsley which is arguably one of Yorkshire’s finest market towns. This wonderful village is where the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills meet offering some of the finest views and countryside. Helmsley is also a walker’s paradise where the Ebor Way meets the Cleveland Way, and also the Inn Way. With a reputation for great Yorkshire hospitality, the market square is a meeting point for walkers, cyclists and locals alike. Helmsley knows how to keep its visitors happy, with many shops, cafés, eateries including Michelin starred restaurants, an open-air swimming pool, walled garden, castle, bird of prey centre, microbrewery, two abbey ruins and the stately home of Duncombe Park.
