As you walk through the front door, you will enter the tastefully presented, open plan living/kitchen/dining area. The hotspot of Grassington is just 10 miles away, with its summer arts festival and Dickensian celebrations, not to mention a plethora of shops, pubs and tea rooms. Hawes, famous for its Wensleydale cheese, is just 12 miles away. Beech Cottage is perfectly situated in the peaceful hamlet of Carlton-in-Coverdale, and is a super destination for guests wanting to explore the magnificent countryside of the local area. Beech Cottage is located inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park and in the valley of Wensleydale. The cottage is a great spot for guests who enjoy walking, cycling, rambling, hill running or just exploring the incredible unspoilt scenery throughout this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are many established public footpaths to enjoy which lead directly through Carlton-in-Coverdale and carry on through many local villages including West Scrafton, Horseshoe and Gammersgill to name only a few. The village Pub, ‘The Forester’s Arms’, has an excellent reputation, and there are also numerous pubs that provide a handy stop off during a day’s walk. A little further afield, but still only four miles away, guests will be able to visit the historic village of Middleham. Once the home of Richard III, Middleham is steeped in history and has some great attractions to visit. Nestled between two rivers, the magnificent castle of Middleham has the largest castle keep in the north of England and a Royal heritage that once earned it the title of the Windsor of the North. Horse racing fans really must take a trip too as the village is famous for its rich horse racing history and is home to many of the top stables in the country. The market town of Leyburn is also just five miles away and offers guests the chance to browse around the weekly farmers market offering local produce and arts and crafts. There are plenty also plenty of tea shops, restaurants and cafes, so make sure you plan a whole day in Leyburn. Perfect for families of all ages guests will surely want to visit the Chocolate Museum in Leyburn and also the fun attraction of The Forbidden Corner which is only a short drive away. A little further afield, but still within an easy hours drive, guests will be able to take a day trip to York, Ripon, Harrogate, Richmond or the cathedral city of Durham.

Beech Cottage is warm and welcoming and offers comfortable accommodation throughout. The lounge is small and cosy and has an open fire and original features. There is a separate dining room and kitchen with good quality fixtures and fittings. On the first floor guests will find a single bedroom, double bedroom and twin bedroom which all offer great views and are very well presented throughout. The family bathroom is on the first floor and offers a shower over bath and heated towel rail. The WC is separate to the bathroom. There are gardens to the front and rear of the property and guests can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the location whilst listening to the nearby stream that runs to the rear and side of the cottage.

Situated in one of the most picturesque villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with majestic views of Malham Cove from the rear, this cosy, Grade II listed, semi-detached cottage has been lovingly restored to a very good standard. Exposed beams, stone walls and a woodburner add to its character and make this an ideal place for getaway holidays throughout the year. Walks can be enjoyed across the fields and fells of Malhamdale, with access to the Pennine Way close by, and amid the spectacular scenery of the National Park all around. Malham is a traditional Dales village with a stream running through the centre, offering the choice of two pubs, teashops and the National Park Centre. Shop 2.5 miles, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

This traditional semi-detached, stone built cottage is Ideally situated in the heart of Gunnerside, close to Gunnerside Gill, which flows through the middle of the village, and which you can follow up to the ruined lead mines and onto the fells.
A scenic drive through Upper Swaledale takes you over the stunning Buttertubs Pass to the market town of Hawes with a plethora of shops, pubs and tea rooms, and on through Wensleydale, better known as the home of Wensleydale cheese from the Wallace and Gromit animations.
A little further afield is Aysgarth with its stunning riverside walks and amazing waterfalls. Leyburn is also a popular market town, again with shops and tea rooms. Also close to Leyburn is Middleham with its Norman castle dating back to the 12th century, and connections to King Richard lll. Middleham is also well known for ‘The Gallops’ where racehorses are trained.
The slightly larger market town of Richmond is within easy reach by car or bus and is well worth a vist. Here you will find yet another Norman castle, and a large cobbled market square surrounded by a shops, pubs and tea rooms, and there is even a Georgian theatre.
Also worth a visit is the Forbidden Corner, an amazing Folly which makes an exciting day out for all the family, with secret passages, surprises at every turn, weird and wonderful gardens and a café for well deserved refreshments after all the excitement! After your adventures, drive back to Gunnerside through the villages of Lower Swaledale. Shop 6 miles.
