The ground floor is accessed via the kitchen door and is comprised of a downstairs bedroom (double or twin), kitchen, dining room, sitting room, shower room and toilet. On the first floor you’ll find two bedrooms (double or twin) and two bathrooms, each with a shower and bath. Outside the property are its original outbuildings and a pleasant garden area overlooking peaceful woodlands. As part of your stay, you’ll have free, exclusive access to England’s largest rewilding estate. So you can spend time together in nature, wandering ancient woodlands, cycling moorland trails, or enjoying picnics by the riverside. It’s a country getaway like no other.
For a relaxing day out venture further into the Yorkshire Dales to the picturesque villages of Grassington, 12 miles, and Kettlewell, 5 miles further, calling at Kilnsey Trout Farm on the way and a stop off to watch the climbers hang off Kilnsey Crag. Many walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found here and all around the area. Country pubs serving local produce are within easy reach should you wish to dine out during your stay, with the closest just 500 yards away and easily reached via a stroll through the estate grounds. Top Lodge provides a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but will come alive when filled with your family and friends, yet is within very easy reach of the main town of Skipton and surrounding attractions, what more could you want. Lovingly renovated throughout by the owners, White Abbey is a beautiful stone-built property situated on the outskirts of Skipton with views across the fields and moors beyond. This property oozes charm and character where guests can fully immerse themselves in country living, with features like the aga in the kitchen, wooden beams, exposed brickwork throughout, spiral staircase and incredible open fireplace in the living room where you can snuggle up on those colder evenings. White Abbey offers both friends and families a luxury holiday retreat whilst being ideally located to explore all that the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. The property boasts four good-sized bedrooms, the master bedroom is located on the first floor along with two other bedrooms, one double and one with bunk beds ideal for children. The lovely family bathroom again on the first floor is equipped with a shower over the bath and a Heated towel rail.
Down the fantastic spiral staircase to the ground floor, you have a very comfortable living area with a gorgeous open fire and Smart TV. White Abbey has a gorgeous kitchen which is fully equipped for all your culinary needs along with an Aga and breakfast bar. Up 5 steps from the hallway White Abbey has a large dining area which is fantastic for socialising and entertaining, perfect if you are away celebrating. From the dining area up a couple of steps you also have a double bedroom and separate toilet. Doors leading from the dining room you are greeted by the new addition to White Abbey, a delightful conservatory which is ideal to have your morning coffee in. To the rear White Abbey has a gorgeous elevated private patio area which has some breath-taking views over the magnificent countryside which surrounds the property, ideal to sit out and have a drink alfresco.
Close by is the market town of Skipton also known as ’The Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’ which has so much to offer visitors, from a great selection of independent shops and restaurants to the ancient castle which is open daily. The market sits on the cobbled area either side of the main thoroughfare. With its wonderful canal path and pretty, long boats, you can book a day’s boat ride and enjoy the stunning Yorkshire Dales countryside from the water. Haworth is also close by and is known its association with the Brontë sisters and the preserved heritage Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Whether you want to walk or cycle the Yorkshire Dales, it is full of bike trails and fantastic, scenic walks. Other towns and villages close by are Ilkley, Otley, Harrogate and a little further afield Leeds and York, all easily accessed by car..

Within the hour you can be in the city of York with its abundance of renowned attractions, including the iconic Minster, Castle Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre. These semi-detached farmhouses The Barnhouse (ref W42980) and The Farmhouse (ref W42979) have been carefully co-ordinated throughout and are set within the grounds of the Caravan Club site in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. As such, they enjoy breath-taking views of the surrounding open countryside.
Walk direct from the door over the nearby moors or take a 5-minute stroll into the nearby traditional market town of Hawes. Here you will find a good mix of shops with something for everyone including antiques, traditional country clothing, fashion and gift shops interspersed with tea shops, restaurants and pubs. Alternatively visit the Wensleydale Creamery, famous for its cheese endorsed by Wallace and Gromit or visit the Dales Centre Museum. Carr House farmhouse is set on a working farm, but only minutes away from the attractions of Scarborough and only 1½ miles from the well known surfing beach at Cayton Bay, which also welcomes dog walkers throughout the year. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the large landscaped gardens with a summerhouse, apple trees and barbecue, with a perimeter fence making it ideal for both children and pets. This detached farmhouse is ideal for touring the North Yorkshire coast, from Whitby in the north to Bridlington in the south. A short journey inland takes you to the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ Country and Pickering for the steam railway, whilst York for its historic attractions is less than an hour away.

For activities nearby there is Dalby Forest for cycling and tree climbing, Wykeham Lakes for fishing, or the many beaches which offer the chance to just relax, sail, surf, sunbathe, paddle, and build sandcastles. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort with lots of family attractions, such as the waterpark, Sealife Centre and crazy golf, as well as a funfair, ice-cream parlours, amusements, and donkey rides. A real feature of the property is the stunning sunroom with floor-to-ceiling windows with views as far as the eye can see. Holmeside Barn has four good sized bedrooms across both the first and ground floors with various layouts to suit the whole groups sleeping arrangements, and the ground floor bedrooms have access to the garden. To the rear of the property there is a large lawned garden, complete with hidden ditch, so the view is uninterrupted, leading to a large lower lawn complete with a children’s play area. Holmeside Barn is surrounded by wildlife and livestock, so we ask that only well behaved dogs are brought. The garden area is not enclosed!
