This stunning stone-built house is the ideal choice for families and friends looking for somewhere special for their stay by the coast. Stepping inside into a spacious hallway, there is a picture of Captain Cook – who began his voyages from the harbour here. You then enter a contemporary living area where there is a well-equipped, navy-blue, nautical shaker-style kitchen and dining area for 8-10 people. You can sit at the Captain’s table and enjoy your full English Breakfast or your teatime fish and chips, or maybe cook a fine dining dinner for you and your guests. The lounge at the bottom of the hallway features a fabulous, whitewashed wood fireplace with cast iron electric fire. Decorated in seaside tones of aqua navy and white, with solid white oak painted furniture, this is a cosy space with leather sofas where you have a view over the private enclosed garden - from here you can see the top of Sneaton Castle which is only a 3-minute walk away. Sneaton Castle has a wonderful restaurant and bar, where you can enjoy meals in beautiful surroundings either inside the castle itself or out in the grounds. You have a flagged patio sitting out area in the garden, where you can enjoy the afternoon sun, here you can relax after a long day out at the beach or sightseeing. The adjoining garage can be used for bike or surfboard storage and doubles as a games room.
After a busy day exploring you can retire upstairs to the bedrooms, each one beautifully presented. The master bedroom has a solid oak super king bed, Smart TV and an en-suite bathroom, and there is a further kingsize room, both of these rooms have ceiling fans to keep you cool on hot summer evenings. The third bedroom has a double bed, and the fourth bedroom has bunk beds with an additional trundle bed which can be pulled out (sleeps 3).

You are perfectly positioned to enjoy the delights Whitby has to offer, only a short walk away from the Westcliff, with the golden (dog-friendly) beach below stretching all the way to neighbouring Sandsend. You can also walk into the town centre with an abundance of cafes, bars, and independent shops, which is just a mile away, or hop onto the convenient bus. Whitby is steeped in history, with the Whitby Abbey on the headland, a cobbled historic old town, and the pretty harbour. Take a trip on the heritage steam train, soak up the history in one of the museums or enjoy the sea air and stunning vistas on a boat trip. Further along the coast you have delightful bays and coastal villages to discover before returning to your idyllic holiday home.

Captain’s House is a modern town house in a fantastic location, situated just a short walk away from the bustling heart of Whitby on the Yorkshire Heritage Coast. It has four bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, and an open plan kitchen/dining area, which has views of the river and steam railway, and makes for a great social hub! There is also a separate living room with leather corner sofa with reclining seats - perfect to relax in after an exciting day out. Outside is a good-sized garden, a suntrap in good weather, and which has views of the river and railway and you can see the steam train leave Whitby Station. This location is a haven for walkers and cyclists, and many walks can be accessed from the doorstep, including a riverside walk along the Esk or along the disused railway line between Whitby and Scarborough, known as the Cinder Track, and which calls at picturesque Robin Hood’s Bay. There is even an enclosed playground for the kids in front of the house.

Famous for its links to Bram Stoker’s ’Dracula’ novel, Whitby has a Gothic flavour with its abbey atop the famous 199 steps offering exhilarating views every way you turn from this natural vantage point, across the harbour and town, and into the countryside beyond. The ruins of the abbey stand proudly on top of the East Cliff headland above the busy seaside town of Whitby. The old town has cobbled streets and independent shops galore, as well as a fantastic foodie scene with everything from award-winning fish and chips to gastro pubs, bistros and traditional pub fayre. There are plenty of tea rooms and coffee shops mixed amongst the ice cream parlours and pubs with live music all year round. Venture further afield and visit the North York Moors National Park for some stunning scenery. The traditional seaside town of Scarborough is 20 miles to the south and has plenty to offer, with its expanse of beaches, a waterpark and an open-air theatre which has regular international bands and acts performing throughout the summer. Leading from the hall is the main drawing room, which is very large and perfect for family gatherings. It has three large comfortable sofas, a TV with Freesat, a DVD player and a bay window with a window seat, giving uninterrupted views up the River Esk and over the weir. French doors lead from the drawing room to the garden. On the lower ground floor, the well-equipped kitchen can be accessed from either the entrance hallway or via the garden.
